Rented Casa 1940 but hung out with Luis and his brother on and off during my stay in Havana. Everything is in walking distance from Casa 1932. My wife and I along with our two year old managed to even double dip on some of the sites in our two half days and one night in Havana. Luis and his family are amazing. The 1932 is an art piece on it own. They were very courteous and full of useful information.
He provided us with a taxi service in an amazing 1958 Mercedes Benz to Varadero for a great price.
If you're lucky enough to get a room here or at the 1940, you'll be in good hands.

Can't wait to visit again.

The people were very nice and helpful.
The location is very nice, it's 5minutes from the "Malecon", and a fairly walking distance to the central park.
The meals were also very nice, in particular the breakfast. I even asked for a typical meal for dinner and I tried "Ropa vieja" which I like very much.
Safe, clean, well located great service.
I recommend this house to anyone.

I stayed here in September, 2012 and loved it. The owner, Luis, is very friendly and has lots of good advice for first-timers. The room was very comfortable, with a small fridge that always had a pitcher of water in it. There's a little key safe in the room you can use for your passport and small electronics. I especially enjoyed visits with the house cat, Tito, who even sat in my lap a few times:)
Overall this is a lovely casa and I would definitely recommend it.

We tried to book at Casa 1932 but it was booked out but that was not a problem, Luis organised a room for us at just around the corner Casa 1940.

Luis was very helpful and we meet him at Casa 1932, his brother walked us around in Casa 1940 and made sure that we were settled in with everything that we needed.

A trip back to the 30ths
My wife and I were staying at Casa 1932 for almost a week, Dec. 27, 2012 – Jan1, 2013. We came back for one more night on January 9 before our home journey.

This Casa is very centrally located just a short walking distance from the old city were most of the activities are taking place.

Luis, the owner, is very warm, friendly, and with helpful information and tips on what to do in Havana which he shared with us during our stay. Actually, all family members and staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a casa you feel very welcome to.

Our room was comfortable and clean and located on the ground floor facing a nice courtyard that brings you back to the 30ths. The room was also equipped with a fridge.

The first night we were served a wonderful lobster cooked to perfection! (The fish we had the second evening was also perfect). The sumptuous breakfast is also a highlight with fresh fruits, fruit juice, toast, pancakes and choice of eggs and, of course, coffee or tea. It kept us going long into the afternoon.

On the departure day, we had the chance to be driven to the airport in an old Mercedes from the 50ths belonging to the family. It couldn’t have been a better Havana exit than to leave the city with a car pre revolution. Luis’ driver was also very trustworthy and friendly.

It was a very pleasant time to stay at Casa 1932 and with Luis. It's like stepping into a living museum, as the family home was founded 1932 and all furniture and decorations are from the 30ths. Luis being both a pharmacist and internal decorator puts a lot of effort and proud into showing his family home like it has been in the past. For sure next time when we visit Havana we will happily come back to Luis.

Make yourself a favour, start your Cuba trip at Casa 1932. We stayed here for two nights when we arrived in Cuba on Christmas day. We had the same great experience as many other reviewers; Luis is tremendously helpful and efficient in assisting you to have a pleasant and comfortable time in Cuba. It started already over email providing advice on currency and cost for taxi from airport among other things. He also assisted us in making a reservation in a Casa that we due to their internet problems, did not manage to get in touch with. Further, when another Casa emailed us and cancelled our reservation in old Havana he promised to find a good alternative for us (his Casa was full). He kept his promise and we got a very good Casa at Malecon with an astonishing view over the sea (thanks Alain and family). Upon our arrival in Cuba and Casa 1932 Luis turned out to be a perfect “travel agent” sorting out a number of other needs and wishes we had. In minutes over his phone, we got information on timetables and prices and tickets were subsequently arranged and our further on Casas where reconfirmed. Do not hesitate to stay at Casas he offers to arrange for you. He is very sincere in his wishes to make your Cuba visit as great as possible and he keeps himself firmly updated with reviews from Tripadvisor! He also owns a car, a Mercedes 1958 (engine younger) that can be hired with a driver who speaks excellent English (as Luis does himself). We used this service to make a full day tour to Las Terrazas and Vinales and had a long and wonderful day. Victor, the driver, was very pleasant and friendly on top of being an excellent and very safe driver.

On top of this, of course, as others already have written plenty about; the Casa is like a tasteful museum with comfortable rooms. The breakfasts and the dinner we had were indeed delicious! While one of ours worries was that the Casa should be too far from old Havana we did not thinks so once there and in fact we enjoyed quiet nights which we probably would not have had in old part of town. Thanks Luis! from Lotta and family

There's not much to say that's not already been said, but I'll throw in my two pieces anyway:

- The hosts, Luis and his brother Javier, are very polite and exceptionally helpful. That they manage to do this without overstepping the host-guest boundary is a credit to them. Luis is also a stickler for doing the right thing by the law, which we appreciated.
- The breakfast is very generous and the best we've had in Cuba.
- The rooms themselves are good and clean, with working aircon and hot water. The house overall is splendid, a veritable museum!
- The location is great for being one block away from the Malecon; Habana Viaje is only a thrilling, 2 or 3 CUC "coco taxi" ride or an interesting 15 min walk away.

IF you can get accommodation here, don't miss it.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Casa 1932 is the most recommended and referred accommodation in all of Cuba. The house has been painstakingly restored back to the 1930`s era charm and character, and the decor is like stepping back in time. The house is affordable, comfortable, secure, and well located. The location is only 50 meters (150 feet) from the Havana seawall "Malecon Habanero". From this house it is only a short walk to all of Havana's most popular attractions; Malecon, the Prada, The Capitolio building, China town, shopping, restaurants, and nightclubs.Your host, Luis Miguel, speaks fluent English and loves to share Cuban culture with his guests. He is avid collector of antiques, a history buff, and a lover of architecture, design, and decor. This house stands above its competitors by offering authentic Cuban meals prepared by a personal chef, a full time driver on staff, a concierge, and full time cleaning staff. The property is meticulously maintained and operated, and was one of the first private Casa Particular properties in Havana, now with years of experience and satisfied customers. Casa 1932 is consistently top ranked by travel professionals and is currently recommended as #1 by most professional travel guides. As a result of our popularity, we regret that we are near 100% occupancy. Please contact us, should we be fully booked, we are happy to recommend other nearby options which we believe offer similar level of service. *As of 2015 we have been voted the #1 Casa for American Visitors who wish to see Authentic Cuba, experience history, and feel truly welcome. ... more   less
