I just returned from my fourth stay at Happy Holiday Homes (HHH) and am more convinced than ever that this is one of the best deals on the island. I was there from July 7-14, 2007. My dive buddy and I are not interested in oceanfront accommodations, a pool, on-site restaurant, etc., so HHH works out perfect for us. The bungalows are extremely well laid out and a lot of thought has been put into a diver's needs. The parking is no more than 10 steps from the individual gear wash area at each bungalow. There is also a lockable dive gear closet off of the front patio. The bungalows are extremely clean and well maintained and the kitchen facilities are great for those evenings when you want to eat in. The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you feel at home. We also enjoyed the garden area in front of each bungalow that provides your own little island of seclusion and allows you to experience the local birds close up. The owners can also provide discounts for dive and car rental packages.

I have stayed at other accommodations on Bonaire when traveling with the local dive club and have paid more than double the price for lodging and can honestly say that I prefer staying at HHH.

We returned to Happy Holiday Homes June 29—July 11, 2007 after five years for our second stay because of the great value, spaciousness and cleanliness of the apartment, the convenience of having our own kitchen and an area for hosing off and hanging up our snorkel equipment and clothes, the quiet area, and the friendly hosts. Again we asked Louise to arrange for the rental of a Toyota Hilux truck which worked out great for driving on the unpaved roads in the national park and rougher side of the island. This time we went to Curacao for three nights in the middle of our trip and were so happy to return to "our home" and the simpler life on Bonaire! We enjoyed sitting on "our" patio and watching the hummingbirds in "our" garden. We hope we can return to Happy Holiday Homes and the fantastic snorkeling of Bonaire within a few years. We've only been home about 40 hours and already greatly miss Bonaire and "our happy home"!!

THe Happy Holiday Homes [--] in Bonaire's southern section is a very comfortable, homey place to stay. Full kitchen, generous and comfortably furnished rooms, comfortable bed w/ good reading lamps, AC in BR (very quiet, too!), and facilities to wash and store dive gear--what more could you ask for? Louise the owner is a great help on questions large and small (from how to read the recipe in Dutch on a box of rice to help locating a pharmacy open on Good Friday). The place is near great diving spots (but a 10-min drive to town, so if you prefer eating out a lot, keep that in mind). quiet and well-appointed. All in all, a great place for a dive vacation!

Large apartment style lodging, with either 1 thru 3 bedroom units with full kitchen and utensils. Very clean. Left doors open during daylight hours when diving. Safe> Each apartment has a private patio with tropical plants that attract the local birds. Feed them oranges each day-had up to 12 at a time.

Location- approx 5 minutes from airport and the same to hilma hooker dive site. Single level with parking at your front gate.

As for Scuba, each is equipped with 2 rinse tanks and outdoor hanging hook for gear to dry-also locking area for gear storage at night-we left our equipment out at night.
