For our purposes, Black Durgon was perfect, and we can't wait to return!

Fishseeker's review was accurate, but like so many of the reviews on the internet have said, if you're looking for luxury, this might not be the place for you. However, if you don't mind sacrificing in comfort for an unbeatable price, a FANTASTIC location, and REALLY NICE people, then you really can't beat the Black Durgon Inn.

The Small Wall and the Black Durgon house reef are spectacular. We dove both sites several times during the day and night. We went to some great dive sites around the island, but we always returned to the two house reefs.

We loved the outdoor kitchen at the Black Durgon. We kept food in the fridge (groceries and leftovers) and ate a few dinners on the dock, watching the sunset, with no one else around. It's a great way to save a little extra money.

Al is great. We can't wait to go back!

We had 4 of the 10 rooms Dec.15-22. We loved the location and convenience of walking out the dock and diving or snorkeling. Small wall and the house reef were wonderful and the underwater life was abundant and diverse. We also enjoyed the common area, where we visited and played cards each day.
The inn itself was basic and clean when we arrived. However, 2 of the rooms had no hot water until the last day. We had to ask for clean towels the first 2 days. After that, clean towels would be placed on our bed each day. We did not get wash cloths or hand towels. Also, our trash can was emptied only once and the room was never swept nor were the sheets changed. I did not expect this to be done daily, but at least once during our week would have been nice.
We chose the Black Durgon because of reviews we read here and were disappointed. We understand that Rona is no longer running the inn and Doris, the cook and maid, was on vacation, but still.......
We love Bonaire and will return, but not to the Black Durgon, unless we read that improvements have been made.

Great stay, met all of our needs. Al even loaned us a suitcase to take all our tourist geegaws home. Guess that means we need to go back to return the suitcase. Breakfast was good, facilities very adequate for the price. A very nice stay.

The Black Durgon is a good place to stay. If you're looking for a swanky place, this isn't the place. However, if you're looking for friendly staff, clean (but basic) rooms, convenient diving, and as laid back an atmosphere as you'd want, this is the place. The rooms are very basic, but very convenient to the diving. They are kept spotlessly clean after every breakfast.

The outdoor breakfast area is great, and they serve a great breakfast, right on the water. The onsite gear storage is convenient, and the instructor, Rick, can guide night dives at Town Pier (a MUST!!!!), and give you great diving info on other sights.

This is not a top-of-the line "resort", but fits in great with the laid-back style of the island. I'll go back, for sure. Al will take good care of you, too, and spin a few diving stories.

Bonaire is known for its shore diving, and one of the best sites is right off the end of the pier. Six of our thirteen dives were done here. How convenient is that???

If you like "swanky" diving, don't stay here. However, if you want to get to know a good group of fellow divers, and a great proprietor, in a laid back setting, I'd recommend you stay here.

Anyone looking for a great place to stay on Bonaire, look no further. The Black Durgon Inn is a great find! My husband and I just returned from there and cannot say enough good things. The place is extremely relaxing, and you are treated more like a friend than a tourist. Their house reef is right there in the backyard, so if you don't feel like going elsewhere to dive, you don't have to leave the property. When we were there, we got to see two seahorses that have made their home in about 60' of water. Incredible. The daily breakfasts at Black Durgon are awesome, and to be able to use the outdoor kitchen for lunches and dinners is a plus--sunsets are just an added bonus! Because the place is small (only 10 rooms), you don't feel like you're overcrowded. I can honestly say that future trips to Bonaire will include a reservation at this quaint waterfront inn.
