“Nice Get-away”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the hotel celebrating our 3rd anniversary. We had a suite which was lovely, I instantly fell in love with the jacuzzi. The only negative about the whole experience is how housekeeping behaved toward us as locals, their behaviour was cold and sour for the most part. There was only 1 young lady who brought our breakfast who should be commended (so sorry I didnt get her name). But overall it was a nice stay.

We loved our room overlooking the pool with a view out to the surf. Though it was in the oldest part of the hotel it was beautifully appointed. And the staff was very friendly and helpful, and we mean all the staff. They checked in with us often, kept our room spotless, catered to our needs at poolside and surfside. Unfortunately our overpriced buffet breakfast was awful (we only went once). They have a new chef for their Upper Terrace restaurant and he is earnest but many of his dishes miss the mark. And the service is painfully slow. Thrice burned we did not try the Polynesian buffet. Fortunately, the hotel is surrounded by lots of food choices from upscale Champers to the island standard, Chefette. We had a wonderful vacation at this great location on our favorite beach, Accra/Rockley.

Room Tip: You might want to avoid the side (East) which backs onto the public beach. It can get noisy there o...

We recently returned from 7 days at the Accra. What a delighful and wonderful hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room and found that we had been upgraded from a ocean view to an ocean front suite without asking. We thought we had died and went to heaven. We have travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean and have to say the beach at the Hotel was outstanding. There was no need to get up at 6:00 a.m. to put a towel on a beach chair! Plenty of umbrellas and loungers to go around. Completely 'civilized'. The hotel is ideally situated on the island, close to all amenities, including a convenience store across the street, and an excellent outside restaurant called "Just Grillin".

Staff at the Accra were outstanding and friendly. The hotel was immaculate. Would we recommend it? Absolutely! If you have read reviews and someone was disappointed, I suggest they venture no further than their homes because nothing will ever make them happy no matter where they travel.

Room Tip: Definitely book an ocean front if it's within your budget.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday to Barbados after staying at the Accra Beach Hotel and Spa. This is our 4th holiday to Barbados and the third in a row at a different hotel every time, and the Accra is by far the best hotel in which we have stayed. Although there was a queue to check in people were dealt with very quickly due to their painless method of registering. Like everyone in Barbados all the members of staff were extremely friendly, helpful and professional and are extremely keen to ensure that their business on the island of Barbados makes a good impression on visitors to encourage them to return. From the car park attendant to the higher management; everyone is wishing you an enjoyable holiday in Barbados. No business can run without a few problems but at the Accra, when these arise they are dealt with quickly and efficiently and they take any advice seriously and put it into practice.
The cleaning in the Accra is second to none with members of staff sweeping and cleaning throughout the day, from early morning to late at night. The rooms are immaculately cleaned every day with clean towels, clean bedding, enough shower gel and shampoo and soap and tissues to meet ones needs. Our room maid folded a towel into a different shape every morning. We loved the filter coffee that was provided in the room with the filter coffee maker and for cups of tea a kettle was provided as well. A safe is provided free of charge in every room as well as a comfortable iron and a hair dryer that dries your hair efficiently without burning your hands or head. The double bed was large and very comfortable and we got a good night’s sleep every night because music stopped at a sensible hour before midnight. We had a sea view room that overlooked the pool and entertainment area and we were not disturbed once during the two weeks that we were there. Breakfast at the Accra was excellent with a wide range of food to suit everyone; we were a party of 10 and nobody was dissatisfied with what was on offer. If we had any criticism it was that sometimes the breakfast staff had problems keeping up with demand in replenishing the food and meeting our demands for endless pots of water for the mountain of tea that we drunk. The hotel also offers dinner on the Upper Deck and the food is excellent and at a competitive price to the other restaurants in the area.
The swimming pool is spotlessly clean as is the surrounding area, which is safe and hygienic. Towels, snorkels and flippers are provided free for the beach, as are sun beds and umbrellas, which are erected on request by the hotel staff.
A particularly helpful touch is the iced water dispensers situated around the complex so one should never become dehydrated in the sunny heat of the Caribbean.
The hotel is on the main road to Bridgetown and buses are passing every few minutes at 2 dollars per journey. Across the road there is a supermarket, pharmacy, grill bar, Chinese, Italian and Indian restaurant, and ice cream bar and shops. There is a bank within walking distance (although there is always a big queue) and more shops and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Even St Lawrence Bay is in walking distance for healthy walkers and Oistens famous Friday Fish Night a short bus ride away.
We were disappointed with the Kentucky Fried Chicken just up the road though; it was expensive compared to home for what you get and the drinks were undrinkable. Although noisy, the TGI Friday was excellent value for money and very tasty as was the Chinese restaurant across the road from the Accra; so much food. If you decide to go to the Accra, you must try the OPA Greek restaurant in St Lawrence Gap; we went twice and it was our favourite eating-place.
We hired an 8 seat van from Coconut Car Hire and they were an hour late delivering it, so we will not be using them again. Last year we hired a car from 1st Choice and the car was delivered dirty inside and out and had so much damage to the outside that I wondered if it would hold together, I wont be using them again. Next year I will try MAH, who I hope will be better.
We are already planning to return to Barbados again next year and we will definitely choose the Accra Beach Hotel again. Well done Accra.

Dear Tony & Chris,
I am delighted to see that your recent stay with us was very enjoyable. Your detailed description was indeed very informative. I was sorry to read about the car rental challenges. Hence, I would like to suggest that on your return visit to our hotel, for your 5th visit to Barbados, that you contact us in advance with the details to ensure that there will be no more disappointments.

Have to agree with most recent reviewers. We returned last Friday, 8th March, from 10 days at this lovely hotel. Ideally situated on a beautiful beach, with boardwalk to Hastings in one direction and the Tiki beach bar and lovely fine dining restaurant, Champers, just along the beach in the other. Across the road is a well stocked supermarket, gift shops, various eateries, and a pharmacy. A short taxi ride to Oistins for the great Friday night fish fry, breathtaking St Lawrence Gap, and the port of Bridgetown.

Our room was beautiful: spacious and spotlessly clean (as was the whole hotel at all times) with a huge bathroom and separate loo, fab views of the pool, beach and sea. The staff are charming and friendly and the atmosphere totally relaxing. Nearly everyone we spoke to had visited more than once and it is easy to understand why.

Don't miss Karaoke night around the lagoon bar where you will be entertained by some of the island's most talented singers for the price of a couple of rum punches

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor with a sea view if you can afford it

What a wonderful place! The location is excellent, lots of great places to eat and the beach is a 10 plus! The hotel is very clean and the rooms are really nice. I can't wait to come back! There are 2 ladies who sell food out of their vans at the beach parking lot during the week at lunch time, try their food, it's really good!! Just Grillin' across the street from the hotel has excellent food too! I really loved the boardwalk along the beach, absolute paradise! If you're a coffee drinker there is a really good coffee shop across the street, make sure to try the coconut cake!

First off let me say that this place was perfect..............are there better places, yes there are but you will pay a lot more because they are 5 star resorts. This is a 4 star resort at 3 star prices. It met every requirement that you could ask of a 4 star resort. The place was spotless. I have stayed at a number of fine large(600 plus rooms) resorts such as the RIU and this was our first venture into a smaller resort.(224 rooms) We might never go back to the larger resorts. Our room, even though it was in the back of the resort facing the ocean it would of been an ocean front room in those larger resorts. It was quick to get down to the poll or beach. Like most of the reviews on TripAdvisor, the beach was praised for its white sands, clear water and fun waves. It was all that. No need to get to the beach before sunrise to make sure you had a chair and umbrella. Go anytime and the attendant will have the chairs for you and set up your umbrella. Sure you might want to go early if you want front row but the whole beach is great. No waiting for towels each day. Plenty for everyone. As for the pool, clean, quiet and swim up bar. Chairs around the pool are also plentiful . The rooms are standard size and the furniture and linens have been recently updated. The beds are very comfortable and leave the balcony doors open at night and listen to the waves as you sleep. The housekeepers do a great job. Ours was Tara. Any problems she made sure to keep you happy. My wife in passing told her that there should be a plug closer to the coffee maker in the room. I stopped stopped back at the room that afternoon and a maintenance man was installing a new outlet near the coffee maker. That was quicker then most resorts room service. All the front desk employees were friendly. Michelle was very helpful for us . Even though this is not an all-inclusive the chairs and towels are free along with some fun events helt at the hotel. Monday nights is the Managers Cocktails get together. Wednesday is Karaoke. Both of these are held near the swim up bar and its a fun evening. The bar stays open till 11:00 pm every night. The Accra has 2 fine restaurants and there are nice ones in walking distance or farther up or down the west coast. we love Tapas, just down the boardwalk from the Accra. A drive south will take you to wonderful restaurant called Cafe Luna. We were lucky to find a fun cab driver for all our cab needs. He had a van so he could take six of us. His name is Fernando,( 269.6710) Most of the other reviews will tell you about the shopping plaza behind the hotel for lunch, wine, supplies etc. When I go back to Barbados, we will stay at the Accra again.

Room Tip: all rooms are nice. cheaper if you get island view but pool/ocean view are good. If you get isla...
