“Not worth the money there are far better places to stay at & for less!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2005

My wife & I have just returned from Little Arches for a weeks stay over easter. In short don't both with it! No atmosphere, terrible choice at breakfast, and to confirm another review avoid at all costs 'room 5'

The disgusting smells from this room were due to the bath/WC waste linked to cafe luna's drainage - 'grease trap'.
One evening we had to change rooms because the smell was so bad. Even Moo the chef from cafe luna advised the hotel not to put guests up in the room! (the cafe & hotel are under different owners) We ventured to a number of other hotels & their rates were better & facilities greater! and will return to one of these!

The island's only assets are its stunning beaches. The South West coast is by far the best {better than the west coast} but the West Coast has some excellent restaurants. Try the Cliff...
The capital is only worth a mornings trip..if that. The Gap is over rated and the return wait at the airport was chaotic! allow extra time ie 2 extra hours!

As owner of Little Arches Hotel I would like to briefly respond to the review" Not worth the money..."

I am most upset that our guests did not enjoy their stay at Little Arches. Unfortunately, we did experience a problem one evening with a bad odour in room 5. On hearing about it I have immediately investigated this thoroughly with both our plumber and the sewage works and it has been explained to me that Little Arches stands as one of the last buildings on the South Coast sewage line. As a result of this, one night when we flushed our own system there was a back up of some rather noxious fumes from the lines, which, for some reason, came into the bathroom of room 5. This is the one and only time this has ever happened, and we have been assured that the sewage works have now properly vented the lines, and the problem should not reoccur. It is most upsetting that this did occur while guests were in the room and we sincerely apologize for any upset caused.

We are a very small and intimate hotel and pride ourselves on the personal service and privacy that we offer, we are distressed that our guests did not enjoy the atmosphere of Little Arches. However we do suggest to all that if you are looking for a busier hotel with many facilities such as souvenir shops etc. then one of the larger "resort" type hotels is a better choice.

My husband and I recently returned from our week long stay at Little Arches. The place is truely amazing. We were looking for something small intimate and romantic, and that is certainly what we found.
The staff was top notch, and the Cafe' Luna, dare I say, is one of the best restaurants on the island. We chose Little Arches based almost entirely on the reviews here on Trip Advisor, and were pleasantly delivered with everything that the others said it would be. Can't wait until we can plan another trip back. Little Arches is truely a gem!

My new husband and I were looking for somewhere private and initmate to spend our honeymoon, and couldn't have chosen a better place on Barbados. The town of Ositis is full of life and locals, unlike the more touristy parts of the island. The Luna restaurant was beautiful and delicious and we would have been happy spending every meal there. (except one night dining at The Cliff was to die for - sit along the water, there's a super private, corner table that we had - so romantic)
So if you're looking for something a little off the beaten path, something private, something beautiful, a great staff, and a great restaurant, then look no further.
May I suggest bringing a bottle of wine out to cliffs one night? Spectacular. And if you can, get one of the ocean front rooms down on the first level...private patio and hot-tub!

Little Arches is the most special and private hotel Ih ave ever stayed at. Don't let the last negative review deter you! I couldn't disagree more strongly with the points made! The hotel is not close to all the touristy bar/ restaruants, but that is part of what makes it so special. The rooms are spacious ans comfy, TV is a bit small, but who on earth goes to a boutique hotel in the Caribbean to watch TV. The beach is only about 30 seconds down a shady lane, you'd walk further from your room in a big resort to the beach. No annoying vendors, just a BEAUTIFUL white powder sand beach and plenty of glorious sun. Staff were wonderful, always went out of their way to help, the owner even went out to buy me an anti-histamine when my hayfever acted up (as it aleays seems to when I travel) In short, the positive reviews on this site are most accurate, if you want a run-of-the-mill hotel then go to Coral Sands, we checked it out and it seems clean but BORING!!! : )

we just got back from a 13 day trip in barbados stayed at a few places. Little Arches is architecturally stunning, intimate with a restaurant Cafe Luna that provided good service with good food, but make sure you don't get too toasted at the bar there and forget to order dinner. there is not a food store or any other restaurants in walking distance, however there is Oistin's Fish Fry down the road. definitely go on a sat not fri, less crowded. Little Arches was cozy with a short walk to the beautiful beach or you could just hang out by the pool and order a cocktail. the people who work there Cherise, Seymour, Christian, James etc were "fabu" making your stay "homey".

My boyfriend and I chose this hotel based on their beautiful web site and the trip advisor comments. I was very disappointed with Little Arches as our room had no privacy and everything about the room was small even the tv reminded us of being back on the plane. The architecture of the building is very beautiful but the walls are so thin you can hear a cough from the other hotel rooms. The hotel is also not on the beach and you have to walk down the road to get to it. The area is dreadful as you can't walk to any restaurants or bars. The closest town is St Lawrence Gap which is a 10-15 min taxi ride. The food in the restaurant is excellent but it is closed to the public so is always empty. The staff are very nice but the receptionist in the late afternoon forgot to make our reservation for dinner and also did not get back to us on an excursion we were thinking of going on. We checked out early and checked into the Coral Sands Beach Resort which was unbelievably better. Their rooms were 3 times the size, had kitchens and had your own PRIVATE balcony over looking the ocean.

My Husband and I stayed at Little Arches for 8 days in April 2004. Couldn't fault it, wouldn't change a thing. Room was superb, food was lovely, staff were excellent. Enterprise Beach was fantastic, and so near. (felt safe on the beach on my own) Try and go out on Silver Moon it was a great day - went on my own while hubby watched the cricket, he had a good day too! We hired a car for 3 days - worth seeing the island
Can't wait to go back.
