Little Arches is, without a shadow of doubt, the most wonderful, comfortable hotel I've ever had the pleasure to stay in. The staff were supremely courteous and friendly and all our requests were greeted with a smile as sunny as the Caribbean itself. Our room was furnished and decorated to the highest standards, no skimping on quality here, from the walk-in shower to the private spa pool.

The location was suberb - just a hop, skip and jump to the beach and a short stroll to nearby Oistins, a lively little town, especially on Friday nights!

Would I recommend Little Arches? Absolutely! If you're heading to the Caribbean, book a room here. You will be thrilled with the hotel, staff and rooftop restaurant and chances are you'll bump into the owners while you're there, as they actively participate in the smooth running of the hotel. Say Hi from me ... and tell them I'll be back soon :)

Just loved the place. Rooms were fantastic. The service and attitude of the staff were great. Located across the street from Enterprise Beach (known locally as Miami Beach). The beach is a soft white sand, with an aquamarine water color.
The hotel is small and intimate. Dinner in the on-site restaurant was delicious, but expensive. Otherwise, breakfast & lunch were reasonably priced. Had we stayed 7 nights or longer, breakfast would have been included.

We just got back from our second trip to Little Arches and are even happier this time than last time- a tall order as we thought it was perfect then too!

Since our trip last year they have extended the roof in Cafe Luna and added lovely lighting and draperies, creating a very romantic atmosphere in which to enjoy the amazing food. I totally agree with the rating I'd heard it earned as top hotel dining experience in Barbados, as we went to all the more "famous" west coast restaurants and never had a meal we enjoyed as much as the meals we had at Cafe Luna. The service was discrete, friendly and without pretension (we are NOT into stuffy, formal places), and the food was fresh and delicious with a variety of local seafood which I particularly enjoyed. The drinks evening with the other guests and Sandra the General Manager was great fun...too many cocktails, enough said!

We had taken a look around the hotel on our last trip and looked into several of the rooms. I think one of the nicest things about Little Arches is the fact that all of the rooms are different and unique and you don't end up feeling like just another number. We loved our room on the ground floor level as it had a private patio and it was one of the larger rooms we saw. We also loved the fact that there are many interesting little nooks and crannies at Little Arches and there is a real attention to detail everywhere you look; there are handmade pottery murals, a candlelit outdoor lounge areas at night, chocolate truffles at the turndown each night and so on. The staff always made us feel special and there was always a genuine interest in how our day went on our return- sunburned from the beach usually, each day.

To sum up, if you want a hotel with enormous square rooms each one identical to the one next door, shiny fast elevators, giant buffets, bowing and scraping doormen in a big anonymous hotel, then don't go to Little Arches. If you want a completely personalized experience and to feel like you are staying with close friends the Little Arches is the place for you. The rooms are not enormous, but they are charming, quirky and very comfortable and the whole experience is one of intimacy and romance.

We've booked for the same time next year, and already can't wait to go back!

We have just returned from a 9 day stay at Little Arches. We booked the hotel based upon all the wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor. Those giving the hotel a 5 rating are right on and I think those people complaining about such items as the freighter out at anchor or the planes that infrequently fly over head are nit pickers.

We felt right at home from the moment Cherisse and Sandra greeted us. Everyone and I mean everyone connected with the hotel are sincerely friendly and helpful. No dour looks that one sometimes experiences at other Barbados hotels.

The beach is wonderful and we can attest to the potent rum punches served at Mr. Delicious along with their flying fish cutters.

We enjoyed the pool as well. Most of the time we had it to ourselves. We had lunch served to us poolside under the pergola
whilst seated on these very plush sofas. Decadent!!

Ate twice at Cafe Luna. Had their lobster, which was fantastic.
All the restaurants we went to were good ..Champers, Pisces,Restaurant at South Seas, Josef's and Luigi's. For my wife's b-day we went to The Cliff...for a very special night it is the place to go, otherwise vastly overrated as well being incredibly expensive..the restaurants on the South Coast are just as good...especially Cafe Luna.

Special thanks to Cherisse(she puts Katie Curic to shame), Kareem at breakfast, Emma for all her help in arranging all our reservations, Rosie who is the sweetest person you'll ever meet,
Sandra and Shawn for being so good to us. And Trevor and Sylvester for their assistance with our beach chairs.

And finally as to how much we enjoyed our stay, we booked our reservation for next year for two weeks...guess we'll be having soup and bread for awhile!! But it will be worth it...

What can we add to other reviews that might be useful to travellers? Firstly a few very small negatives. Luxurious it is not but it is quite comfortable. Room 3 on the ground floor has very little natural light and we had to have the lights on in the room every time we were in. The hotel is almost directly under the flight path but the planes are quite infrequent and still quite high. There is the occasional older, noisier jet which comes in which you do notice but overall it is not a problem. The tanker in the bay was there twice briefly during our 7 day stay but we felt that it didn’t spoil the overall experience and in fact watching the tug manoeuvre it into and out of position was quite interesting. A very small criticism is that the room had no sachets of instant coffee available. There is a coffee maker with real ground coffee available but it takes about 15 minutes to filter through. I guess the hotel think that this is a benefit to guests and I am sure for some it is but the convenience and speed of instant coffee would on occasions have been welcome.
The 15 minute trip from the airport to the hotel cost us BD$29 but the return trip cost BD$25.
We used taxis extensively on our trip and found them very convenient and cheap. Taxis booked via the hotel are usually supplied by Parris Taxis which comprise of 2 brothers, Andrew or Michael. We used both but found Andrew to be the more relaxed. Don’t get Michael started on religion!! Both were excellent, safe, drivers. Michael has the better car!
We considered hiring a car but on advice from a few other travellers about poor roads and signing we opted instead for a tour of the island by taxi at US$30 per hour with air conditioning or US$25 without. Our 6 hour tour cost us little more than hiring a car would have done. We opted for air conditioning but wished we hadn’t as the car got too cold given that we were dressed in shorts and T-shirts. The tour, at our request, took us to the South and East coasts which are much more spectacular than the West coast. One location which we would recommend you see is a bay where we were told that Queen Elizabeth spent her childhood holidays. It is to the East of Crane beach. It is not on the usual tourist route as there are no shops, sunbeds, toilets or signposts and the road leading to the bay is little more than a track. Michael will take you there and pick you up later. It is a rugged, spectacular place to spend an hour or 2 but the sea is too rough for swimming.
The beach at the hotel is great but only about 150 yards long. Lots of trees further back when you want shade. The sea is great fun with quite large waves. We saw, and experienced, adults being knocked over by the breaking waves only about 10 yards from the shore. There is a calmer section just around the corner suitable for younger children.
If you like to walk, turn left out of the hotel staying on the right hand side. There is a nice short walk you can do before breakfast with excellent views. If you want a longer walk keep going for about 10 minutes until you come to Seaside Drive on the right hand side. There are quite a few gaps between the houses where you can get down to the sea. If you walk the full length of Seaside Drive it will be a round trip of about 90 minutes.
We had a meal at The Cliff, which was about 45 minutes away in a taxi. Cost us twice as much as any other meal we had but I would say for the experience it was worth it especially when 3 large Stingrays were spotted in the illuminated sea less than 10 yards from our table.. The Restaurant at Southsea and Champers are 2 other much closer restaurants that we can recommend with food just as good as The Cliff at around half the price.
Overall we had a great time and would recommend Little Arches. The new addition of a small courtesy shower room available to guests with late flights is a real plus.
