My husband and I had a great stay at Peach & Quiet. Previously we had only stayed on the west coast of Barbados so Peach & Quiet was a nice change and a chance for us to see more of the island. Peach and Quiet is in a rather "off the beaten track" location on the south end of the island, and most vacationers will likely want to rent a car to feel "connected" to the rest of the island and to be able to enjoy the great restaurants in St. Lawrence Gap. You can easily do taxis or bus as well.
The hotel is very lovely and looks much the same as the photos in this site's photo gallery. It's setting on the crashing waves of the south coast is just perfect. However, if you are a beach person and want to be directly on the beach, you will probably be happier at a resort that offers this. There are two beaches directly on either side of Peach & Quiet, but sometimes need to be accessed by the local road. So it is not the same as being directly on the beach. However the pool is lovely.
The rooms are quite simple as other travellers have mentioned. I would recommend the upper garden rooms as the nicest rooms as they tend to have high ceilings, ceiling fans and are nice and bright. The lower rooms where we stayed tend to be a bit dark and although we were rarely in our room, we wished they were brighter. The lightening was also not great in the lower rooms and it was hard to read at night at all. The lower rooms do not have great patios and no lighting so that frustrated us at night when we wanted to read/enjoy the night. The upper rooms had great balconies and lighting. We also found ourselves hot at night at times in the lower rooms with just one floor fan. When booking be sure you also enquire which rooms have which beds. Our room only had two twin beds, not a double or king.
Meals at Peach & Quiet are a real pleasure on the patio under the stars. The food was very good and so amazingly affordable for Barbados. We recommend you also try the great restaurants in St. Lawrence Gap. Margaret, one of the owners, flawlessly directed us to three wonderful restaurants - Pisces in St. Lawrence Gap and The Restaruant at South Sea which was unvelievably stunning and one of the best meals anywhere in our lives. Round House on the east coast was also excellent.
We loved the honour bar where we enjoyed top notch spirits, rum punch, beer etc. We also loved the comraderie of this informal resort and the chance to meet people from all over the world.
All in all - Peach & Quiet is a great, affordable way to enjoy the expensive island of Barbados - which truly is paradise and one of our favourite Caribbean islands. We also love the west coast for its incredible beaches and scenery and sophistication. It really comes down to what kind of a vacation you wish to have. We felt much more adventurous this time!
