“lovely place to stay”

Coconut Court Beach Resort

just back from a week's stay at coconut court and we were very pleased with our choice of hotel.
stayed room only and ate out all the time.
the room was spacious, bright, very clean with an amazing full sea view. the bathroom was a little dated, but very functional. the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water all the time.
the beach was clean and never crowded and the ocean was turquoise blue and never cold. plenty of sunbeds always available.
the staff were very friendly and their attitude even spread to most of the guests, everyone saying "hello" ...
the bar was well stocked and excellent value. the strawberry and peach daquaris were to die for and only $8 US.
we paid for cooked breakfast once but didn't bother again...not that great and the buffet breakfast certainly wasn't woth $12.50.
hired a jeep as wanted our own transport, but rather expensive $100 a day, and you could easily manage without.
st lawrence gap was a great place to eat out any time of day or night, and only 5-10 mins away.
best restaurants were "flying fish" and "picese". the first was lovely. great menu, great views and fantastic friendly service. the second was very special. right on the water and very romtantic and beautful in the evening. staff there treated you very well. more expensive than most places, but well worth it. still good value by uk standards, around $130 US for 2 courses for 2 people with drinks.
the fish everywhere was gorgeous. would reccommend flying fish, barracuda and our favourite was king fish. just ask for it grilled, there's no need to mask the flavour with blackening or breadcrumbs.
went to crane beach...not quite "one of the top 10 beaches in the world" as it's supposed to have been listed as, but non the less, still very beautiful and really worth going to. the sea was amazing. massive waves, aquamarine blue and very soft white sand. you can rent a brolly and 2 loungers for $30 a day.

finally...if you go to the coconut court...make time to talk to tony the guy who stands by the steps leading onto the beach at the hotel. we were there a whole week and he never tried to sell us anything (he makes and sells jewellery on the beach). each time we passed he chatted to everyone with a huge smile on his face. you wouldn't even know he was selling anything! he is there all day every day. we were so humbled by him after speaking to him for longer on our last day. his attitude to life is something else and made us ashamed at the way we are sometimes and of the things that people from busier parts of the world let get to them in life. tony is a very clever and charming man. we wish we could have brought him home with us just to keep us in his frame of mind when the stresses of life get you down! (not that he would ever want to leave there!)
go to coconut court if your idea of a great holiday is a safe clean friendly hotel, with a gorgeous beach and lots to do and see within 30mins of where you're staying. we would certainly go back there again if we decided to return to barbados.

This is our first trip to Barbados and I had read the reviews on this site and found them to be pretty much right on. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The view from the rooms are unbelievable! The beach is just incredible! The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and helpful, they will do anything to help make your stay the best. The restaurant and bar are very good. I had read how expensive the food was in Barbados but found that the cost of eating out there is similiar to other resort areas. The price for meals were very similiar to a stay at Disney World or ski resorts in Utah. Yes a little pricey but not over the top. We enjoyed the Seafood night at the hotel and the entertainment was fun as well. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended from one week to 10 days and Judy was absolutely wonderful at finding us a room for our extra 3 days. The staff are like family by the time you leave and we miss them and the beach. Barbados is such a friendly, safe and beautiful island that more than met our expectations. Don't miss the Heatwave Sunset Cruise, Scuba diving or snorkel with Andrew at Eco Dive all which Lisa at the front desk is very helpful at setting up. Don't miss the fantastic sunsets there on the beach at the hotel. As we traveled the island I was always keeping an eye out for a better beach to stay on and I found that the beach at Coconut Court is the best beach. We will definitely be going back to Barbados and will stay at Coconut Court again.

I've just come back from my second trip to Barbados this year. We stayed at the CC and for us, there are enough delightful things about it to offset any negatives. It's a great hotel for the location and price. I agree with everyone who has pointed out that the Bajuns are extraordinarily helpful and friendly. I've been all over the Caribbean, and the customer service here is excellent on so many levels. The Bajans are not pushy or "in your face", but they are very responsive and respectful. Example: We rented a car for one day, that was arranged by the hotel staff and delivered to the hotel. (I wouldn't bother again, because it is so much easier to get around on the busses.) But, toward the end of the day, we encountered a police road block. They were checking vehicles for "road worthiness", which basically means whether the registration was current. Turns out the there was an issue with the registration on our rental , and the police would not let us carry on. They did however, call the car rental company. Within 15 minutes, the manager came personally to pick us up and drove us back to the CC. He refunded the entire charge for the daily rental, offered us another car free of charge for the next day (we declined, had enough of driving) and apologized up one side and down the other for the inconvenience and "trauma."
Though it's just one incident, it could have been a nightmare had it all gone differently.
I also want to point out that even though the CC sits on a lovely beach, there are dozens of beautiful beachs on Barbados. It's one of the reasons why they aren't very crowded. Try Miami Beach, on the south coast, just a bit past Oistins. It is used by locals more than tourists, but it is almost perfect. There is some wave action, just enough to know you're in an ocean; the water is truly pale blue; the sand is white and powdery; you can literally see the sand beneath you when you're in the water (no rocks) ; there's a food vender there (Mr. Delicious beverages and snacks!); bathroom and shower facility; lovely pine trees for partial shade; a chair and umbrella vender ($10 BDs for the day); quiet and sooooo relaxing. Once we discovered this spot, we were there every day. What more could you ask for? Air/hotel packages in the off season are so reasonable now, we'll be back again next summer.

Just got back from a week long vacation at the Coconut Court. I celebrated my birthday there and it was one of my best birthdays ever. The hotel rooms were a little outdated, but not bad. The view from our balcony was beautiful and the hotel setting on the beach was breath taking. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Sarah, the concierge was right on the money with her suggestions. The Heatwave catamaran cruise was an exceptional value. Great snorkeling, good lunch buffet and a very attentive crew who kept the pina coladas flowing all day.
My birthday dinner was at 39 Steps, a wine bar/restaurant. It was so good that we went back a second time. It was a short walk from the hotel. Like some of the other viewers mentioned, Mama Mia's, the Italian restaurant/deli was great. Don't miss it !
Worth mentioning is that Kelly makes great Bloody Caesars and I took advantage of that at noon time happy hours. Late afternoon, my friends and I certainly enjoyed the bar's specialty drink BBC (Banana, Bailey's and Coconut Cream). The beach dog that was on the beach and in the water everyday captured everyone's attention and stole my friend's heart, who was missing her dog, 'Benny'. Go for it ....you won't be sorry. The bar/restaurant setting made it quite easy mix and mingle with the other guests and have a good time. And Thanks to Janita for a great breakfast buffet every morning.

“Brilliant”

Coconut Court Beach Resort

Returned from Barbados today, after staying at the coconut court. Had a really good time, the hotel is really good and the people who work there are helpfull and can't do enough for you, so please treat them nice as we did notice one or two people being quite demanding. Oistens is a really good night out and is so easy to do yourself, the bus stops are right outside the hotel and stop right at Oistens and the same coming back it cost $1.50 (barbados) each way pp. Teds tour is worth going on it is much cheaper than some of the other Island tours and is brilliant, you get to see some amazing places. Roots and Rythems is good, you will always have two drinks on your table, they like to get you drunk. If you are about to stay at the coconut court, i hope that you enjoy it as much as we did, the wood pecker pub is good and that is accross the road. Barbados was really quiet the 2 weeks we were there. Just remember to go with mosquito repellant the stronger the better.
PS: There is a cute little kitten who hangs around the hotel, who we named skinny minnie, please look after him.
