“Simply wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

We stayed there for a week and I absolutely love it! The rooms are very nice and they have a kitchenette which came in very handy since I have a five year old. The beach is lovely and the hotel pool/grounds are kept clean at all times. They even have a little grocery on the compound which is very convenient. I would definitely stay there again!

My group and I (party of 6- 2 couples, 2 singles) spent a week in Barbados at the Divi Southwinds. We had 4 1 bedroom units. The couples in our group originally booked penthouse units, but switched to 1 bedroom units for a better view. We all had poolview 1 bedroom units on the 4th and 5th floors. The units were nicely appointed, not 5 star, but for the price they were clean and all of the appliances were in working order. There were a few quirks in each of the units (the water regulator in my shower was not working properly, but still had hot water), nothing that would ruin a vacation. I found the staff to be very nice and accommidating. The ground were breathtaking and well cared for. We used the smaller owners pool as it was usually vacant. There was a mix of guest at the resort, families, singles and couples. We had dinner at the resort resturant one evening and the food was good, but not much variety (1 person in our group has food allergies and can't eat seafood or poultry). The at the bar drinks were good and priced well. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and provided accurate information when we asked about shopping for groceries in town. We had a taxi driver take us to a store to purchase food items to perpare some of our own meals. The small shop on the grounds and out in the Gap were more exspensive. The resort is located in a great spot for nightlife and walking to shops, resturants, internet cafes, coffee shops and other places to explore. There are also vendors selling nice handmade items on the street. The beach is a short walk away and very beautiful it has lots of space for sun bathing or sitting in the shade. The water was a bit too rough for swimming, but wave jumping was fun. This was also a good location for venturing out to other areas of the island. All in all I loved my stay at the Divi and would definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms on the 4th or 5th floor. Great view of the grounds, pool and the Gap!

We have stayed here two times and found it to be reasonably maintained, responsive to be minor problems that arise anywhere, and well located. April timing of this visit carried the surprise of winds from the south and therefore red flags on beach prohibiting swimming in the ocean. Eventually, a few locals acknowledged that this does happen with some frequency in April (something I never noticed in any guidebooks), but it was a surprise for us since we never experienced this on any of our many summer visits to Barbados' southern coast. That, of course, isn't the Divi's fault, so book here with confidence.

We booked this hotel based on it's location & the fact that it had it's own beach. The beach was beautiful. Only 1/2 mile in length but beautiful. Divi provides beach chairs & beach towels which made spending the day at the beach very easy. There is also a beach front bar/restaurant that serves great lunches. You can also get your favorite beer or mixed drink to enjoy on the beach. We booked the "Oceanfront Villa" which was neither oceanfront or a villa. It was more like an apartment. we were on the 3rd floor with a balcony that faced the ocean. The views were blocked by the oceanfront bar & palm trees but you could get a peak at the ocean & definitely hear it. The apartment was basic. Clean but definitely not high end. We had some plumbing problems but maintenance & housekeeping were quick to respond. The onsite store was helpful but didn't have much of a selection.. One of the things we loved about this hotel was that St. Lawrence Gap runs right through it so you can easily walk to many great restaurants & nightlife. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Definitely spend the extra for the oceanfront villa. We felt like we were alone in our little slice...

The room was clean and the location was excellent. The breakfast was ok, but the dinner was very bad, its better to book only bed & breakfast. You got very god locations for go out. The staff from hotel was very friendly. The beach was so beautiful, it was like in a dream. I can recommend this hotel for Barbados Lovers. You can enjoy the hall island, you got a friendly staff and a typical Caribbean beach hotel with a fantastic beach to relax. It was not my last time.

The rooms where nice and clean and perfect location to get out and about. The food was very good and the staff where very friendly. I would love to stay here again. Very close to the beach, but if you are a female you might get harassed a bit but it is all in good fun.

The room was generally clean and room service was good. The guys at the restaurant was cool and very customer friendly, however the food and the service at the activity center sucked!!

The beach was great!
