“Wonderful Location but bad food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

The room was clean and the location was excellent. The breakfast was ok, but the dinner was very bad, its better to book only bed & breakfast. You got very god locations for go out. The staff from hotel was very friendly. The beach was so beautiful, it was like in a dream. I can recommend this hotel for Barbados Lovers. You can enjoy the hall island, you got a friendly staff and a typical Caribbean beach hotel with a fantastic beach to relax. It was not my last time.

The rooms where nice and clean and perfect location to get out and about. The food was very good and the staff where very friendly. I would love to stay here again. Very close to the beach, but if you are a female you might get harassed a bit but it is all in good fun.

The room was generally clean and room service was good. The guys at the restaurant was cool and very customer friendly, however the food and the service at the activity center sucked!!

The beach was great!

Exchanged a itme-share week so we could spend it in Barbados — a "bucket list" entry for many years! Bottom line: we were not disappointed, either with the country or the resort. Divi Southwinds, however, could have been better!
First the bad news: the resort is showing its age. Lampshades could no longer be turned so that the cracks and stains didn't show. The bedroom was barely large enough to hold the queen bed and dresser.
Now the good: location, location location! 200 yard stroll to a lovely, palm-shaded beach complete with restaurant serving ice-cold Banks and wonderful fish cakes (and full meals, though we didn't indulge); room looked over the lawn, beach and Caribbean (sunsets were amazing!); directly on St. Lawrence Gap which is full of lively nite spots, restaurants and boutiques (although far enough away so none of the music intrudes on slumber); resort fronts on main road with abundant bus and taxi traffic; Christchurch close to Worthing (grocery stores, restaurants), Oistens (fish fry) and even Bridgetown (capital: shopping, museums, tours, etc.)
On balance, given the option we would definitely spend another week at Divi Southwinds, and can honestly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat that is nonetheless close to all that Barbados has to offer! Enjoy!!

Room Tip: Make sure you are sea side!

This hotel is well equipped with a full kitchen. It is close to many bars and restaurant that you can just walk to. There are taxis and also a bus right across the street that can take you to Bridgetown and most all spots on the island. Make sure you go to Harrison Caves and Oisten on friday night for fish fry. The fresh fish is wonderful. They sell all types of wares and they have live music. I did not have a room with a view just the parking lot. I would have given a higher rating if I had been given a room overlooking the pool. Request one if possible which I did not do. The beach is walking distance with free lounge chairs and the beach bar has excellent food and drinks and very reasonably priced. Overall great vacation spot.

Room Tip: Ask for room near pool if possible

Divi's location is Superb as you have easy access to popular bars and lovely restaurants. Its right off the st.lawrence gap. Its only a few mins drive from oistens and many lovely beaches. Taxis are readily available as soon as you step out of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room service was very good and the room was comfortable and clean. The pool and garden view was a plus. I definitely would not mind staying there a second time :)

I stayed at this hotel at a supposed 130US per night but ended up paying in excess of US$150.00. They fudged the bills, providing me with four different bills to constantly cover fabricated charges and "glitches" in their system. The service at the desk was poor. They did not call the taxi we asked for, would interrupt attending to us to attend to guests perceived to be wealthier, consistently provided different bills with trumped up charges.
The breakfast was average at best with some stale fruit at times. The housekeeping was poor- the rooms were not swept and mopped and I had to write them a note to restock the soap, the bathroom mat, the feminine disposal, the shampoo.
We asked to be moved to a room with two beds which was the original request and even though we were there for a week and the hotel was half empty we were never moved. Two bulbs were not working and one was taken from the bedroom lamp and was never replaced. The staff at the activity centre was rude, condescending and unhelpful. The staff at the desk was inefficient.
I will never stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone.
