Just returned from BFB hotel. Had a fantastic time.
Hotel lovely kept really nice and clean.

Staff amazing and so helpful
Local busses good and can go round the island for $2 bd.
Lots of fab resturants around at everyone's budget. Fish fry is a must at ortains.
Food at hotel was lovely had lunch there most days. Happy hour twice daily.
We hired a car out for a day was nice to drive round and see the island.
It was our wedding annavercery whilst we where there and on our return from the beach we had been left a lovely bottle of champagne it was such a lovely thought.
Thank you butterfly beach for a fab holiday.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We arrived in Barbados on the 7th Sept 2013 for two weeks to soaring temperatures of 30 degrees +, We got a taxi from the Airport to the Butterfly Beach Hotel in Oistins for a set fee 25BDS (use airport taxies).
OK....
The Butterfly Beach hotel is certainly NOT 4 or 5 star, however this is a great little sort of family run hotel, I mean by that that it is in no way commercialized in regards to hard selling organized tours, upgrades etc., etc. as are some hotels. The hotel offers a FANTASTIC right on beach front location with two small beaches and direct access to the sea. Here you can have your breakfast directly overlooking the sea!
The breakfast comprises of juices, fruit, cheese (Chedder) sausages, bacon, eggs, toasts, jams and a few of thier local delicasies.
In the pool area there are three Jacuzzies, one smaller pool and various sun terraces. Really a great place to chill!
Evening food is also available though only I think until 9 ish!
The rooms are basic and really as I said not 4 or 5 star! maybe 3, However they are clean and the staff are really cheerfull at all times, though the rooms are alittle tierd and probabbly need a little decoration. Beds,... very large and very comfortable, aided by the excellent Air con system and a larege ceiling Fan!
Would I stay here again.....Yes definatly...I don't pay TOP prices for ny holidays, therefore, I dont stay where the rich stay. YOU ONLY REALLY SLEEP AND SHOWER IN THE ROOM AND THIS REALLY IS ADEQUQTE
OH... Before I move on ... Happy hour in the bar is 5-6 pm
THINGS TO DO/SEE
Oistins
This is a small village on the beach about 20 mts walk away from the hotel that has a large fish market, and on Fridays it's "FISH FRIDAY"!!!!!
Here both locals and holiday makers turn out in their hundreds if not thousands to eat, dance to the various Reggae music or maybe go back in time to the 50s and 60s. The Rasta’s turn up here as well as the mature Bajan Gentlemen and all dance, drink and eat the night away.
Trouble?....
There is hardly any as the police also come down to ensure that all goes smoothly!! ( ZERO TOLLARANCE!) The rest of the week this is just a chill eve here where you can eat and drink and chill! It is made very clear here that if you are caught with drugs YOU will be prosecuted not the supplier! (As he probably has very little anyway!)
HARRISONS CAVE is a must, take the tour.
WILDLIFE PARK is also good
We went on the island tour. This enables you to see where you want to go without making the mistakes when you do have a car!!
We Hired a car for 5 days in the middle of our holiday from the reception desk at the hotel this was 250 USD FOR 5 DAYS..
We went to the most Northerly point of the island to the old lighthouse, here you will find the reclusive "BIRDMAN" who makes bird feeders out of coconuts..(You have to buy one of these as they are excellent, and cheap!) Oh and he loves a chat! About 5 mts walk from here is the old cave ans café where you can go into with a guide. (Mind the holes in the ground in these places as if you fall in they are really deep!!)
On Saturdays the Horse racing kicks off and you don't have to pay entry....Just pull up grab a beer and some chicken have a bet and hang over the railings to watch the horses go by! There is no minimum limit so bet what you like.... 10 dollar win (1st place) or a place (123) will do! I Won 9 BDs over the day!! WEY HEY!!!
The west coast is the Caribbean and the swimming/sunbathing coast and quite safe, the East coast is the Atlantic and is quite dangerous as there are really strong undertows there. Nice to visit and paddle but swimming is unadvisable !!!
Transport on this island is quite good as the Main busses run quite frequently and there are also White local Taxis that will Toot their horn as you are walking and maybe stop to offer lifts to town (Usually about 2 BDS Each and each way)
Overall this island is total pleasure, the people fantastic, food and drink quite cheap, a mixture of eating places ( KFC, Local, Mc. Donald’s copy restaurants and good restaurants)
Fish is a must on this island as it's all freshly caught that morning! Oh and DOLPHIN on the menu is not "Dolphin" as we know it it is a type of flat headed fish about the size of a bass!! (What we know as Dolphin they call "FLIPPER") They are also Fisherman’s friends!!!

Meals in Restaurants price from say £5 to £ 20 per head but midway at £11 is excellent!
Beers are from 70p per bottle to £1 depending where you drink...Local Rum is really Cheap and good! Rum/Coke/lemonade/pineapple etc.

LASTLY................
As on ANY holiday to ANY country.. Treat people as you wish to be treated and never forget YOU ARE IN THIER COUNTRY...So behave yourself and you will miss the trouble!!
( I just wish that some people that are in our country would do the same!!!!!!)

Room Tip: The best rooms are overlooking the ocean to the ront or the sides!

First time I have stayed here and its better than some of the 4 stars I have stayed in on the south coast
We were not that keen on our first room so asked to change this was done with no fuss and were given 2 rooms to choose from
The room had a safe (unusual for some hotels in barbados) plenty of storage plenty of room and a small kitchenette
The bed was a little bouncy but quite comfortable and the aircon was good
Breakfast was included, it was a cooked breakfast, a good selection and good quality
There is a managers punch party on a monday just looked in on it as these events are usually dire but this was great, rum punch and bajan fishcakes with the guests and staff all chatting to each other well worth going to
The location is good just out of oistins on the maxwell road you can walk into oistins in 10 mins but the paths arent good, wouldnt advise it at night get a bus or a ZR, other south coast spots are only minutes away by bus
The staff are very freindly and helpful, staff at the restaurant/bar can be a bit disorganised but hey its barbados and you're on caribbean time
Happy hour at the bar is from 5 to 6 and was BOGOF while I was there
The hotel is clean and well maintained
There are no real negatives to report about this hotel and definitely intend to stay here again

Room Tip: The centre block of rooms seems to be older and smaller rooms and balconies that the blocks on eithe...

We stayed for 10 nights at the Butterfly Beach. The Hotel doesn't have the wow fact as you arrive but dump your bags and walk to the terrace bar and I don't think there's another hotel on the island with such a great view. Turquoises sea a white sandy beach on either side and the sun shining!
It was our first time in Barbados but we were fine just jumping a cab from the airport to the hotel at a cost of $31 bajan app.£10.
I believe some rooms have been renovated recently unfortunately we didn't have one of those - at least I hope we didn't! Our first rooms air con was leaking and the maintenance man couldn't fix it so after 1 night we moved room. The rooms are basic but clean, average sized and had kitchenettes which was handy. Some people have moaned about the hard beds I found them perfect and the rooms had plenty of pillows from hard to soft so we (3) had exactly what we wanted.
We were on b&b and breakfast was good with a good selection of cooked items and also cereal, toast and fruit. We ate in the hotel at lunch and dinner a couple of times and we found the food good and of an average price for Barbados.
The hotel bar was ok best between 12-1 when Carib larger was 2 for 1 and 5 - 6pm when Banks beer, selected cocktails and some spirits and mixers were 2 for 1. The bar/restaurant has free Wifi and also a sitting area near reception.
Opposite the hotel is a small convenience store and a Chinese restaurant which also does takeout. A bigger supermarket, various other shops and restaurants are a ten min walk (right) from the hotel and then another 2 mins and you are at Oistin (don't bother with a bus on Friday unless it's raining it is quicker to walk!). Turning left is a 20/25 min walk to St Lawerance Gap or alternatively jump on the Reggae buses, $2 Bajan any journey on the route - you get on and off anywhere.
Would I stay here again - It is not the most Luxurious hotel but I think the location can't be beaten, the staff are friendly thers and nice atmosphere at the hotel and it's great value for money............Yes.
Would I recommend the hotel........................Yes

We have just returned from 10 fantastic days in Barbados. We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were fantasic and really helpful. The food was delicious and very good value . They were very helpful and provided me with glutton free food, nothing was too much trouble. The whole place is spotlessly clean and tidy. It is the best holiday we have ever had can't wait to go back.

Returned from my holiday and the Butterfly beach Hotel a few days ago. It was my first stay at this hotel and it definitely will not be my last. Received Excellent service from Shikora who accommodated my need to change rooms without fuss. Although reception staff were extremely helpful would have to say that Jefferson in particular stood out for his excellent help and support. As a result of the service that myself and my family received I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others visiting Barbados.

Room Tip: would definitely recommend asking for an ocean view room.

Have just returned from spending a brilliant two weeks in Barbados. We really enjoyed our stay at Butterfly beach, particularly happy hours and the location of the hotel. We were half board and found the food delicious with a changing menu every two weeks. The BBQ evening was great. We found the staff at first a little frosty in the restaurant but by the end they were incredibly friendly. I would recommend not staying on the first floor as our room had an attempted break in. Staff were excellent and moved us, however I would not feel comfortable staying on a ground floor room again, if I returned. Room although could do with a little maintenance are clean and spacious.

Room Tip: Ocean view higher levels
