“Pretentious chef”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012 via mobile

Went to The Cliff last night our fifth visit in seven years. Was a little disappointed last year, but thought we would give it another go. Still agree that The Cliff is a wonderful looking place. Starter was great. Asked if I could have the steak with a different sauce. Waiting staff were unsure, had to ask the chef. It came with roquerfort sauce I asked for A Diane sauce. Staff came back - chef said no. I asked if I could have it with no sauce. Chef said - yes. When the dish arrived it was accompanied by a Diane sauce, but although appeared to be cooked medium rare was very dry and not much flavour. My suggestion is that to keep up with the likes of Cin Cin, you may ask the chef to reconsider refusing loyal customers requests with varying his menu to suit a customers tastes.

“good food, horribly overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012

I have been to the Cliff a few years ago, the food was and still is good. But US$120 plus tax plus service for a starter and a main course which were extremely good but a long way from great? you have got to be kidding. Thats roughly $40 for a starter and $80 for a main (not including a couple of dull bread rolls)

We eat regularly at some of the best restaurants in the world. I do not mind paying this kind of money for an amazing experience. But at the Cliff the $150 or so (including tax and service) per person (before drinks) buys you a starter a main and some mediocre bread rolls. 2 weeks ago in a 2 star Michelin restaurant in Paris run by one of the greatest living chefs, exactly the same amount of money brought you a few little freebies before the meal, a basket of the most amazing breads, 3 courses, a little something between each course and a huge selection of petit four.

I think that this restaurant is exactly twice the price it should be. At half price it would have been a nice evening out. At this price, one just leaves with a bad taste in the mouth.

The setting is amazing. But thats no excuse for the price premium. Plenty of other restaurants with such settings don't charge this kind of premium.

If you are going to charge these prices, then provide a complete experience to match.

“Superlative service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012 via mobile

I have dined at The Cliff many times over the years since it opened in Barbados and it has NEVER disappointed . From the moment you arrive and your car is valet parked to when you leave you are surrounded by perfect service . Attentive friendly warm and respectful , they get it just right and leave you feeling that you have had a total experience . The food never disappoints and the location and ambience really take some beating and I mean worldwide . Those that are whining about the price should not visit you cannot put a price on a fabulous memorable experience and The Cliff is certainly that !

“Still the leader of the pack”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2012

The Cliffcontinues to deliver on all fronts. the food is excellent, the setting exquisite and quite possibly the worlds most romantic restaurant the reason I proposed here 2years ago).
The merest spot of rain and the entire terrace is covered in seconds as the awning zips in to action, alight to behold.
The Cliff remains, the place to visit and the place to be seen, well worth visiting, you won't be disappointed.
