Location of this place could not be better, it is off in the middle of a neighborhood within minutes of walking distance to some of the best restaurants and incredible calm beaches. We stayed in Apartment 6 and it was extremely clean and included everything needed. Awesome bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and the whole apartment made us feel right at home. Jacqui was extremely nice and very helpful in finding good deals around the island as well as activities to do. The pool and the workout room as well as the little covered tent make it really nice to relax outside by the pool. They even have a sound system to hook up your Ipod, computer or whatever music player you have. Once again cannot go wrong with this place with such an awesome host like Jaqcui. Definitely will stay here again.

We stayed in one of the 2-bed room apartments (ground floor) with our two children (6 and 8). The whole apartment was spacious and clean. The manager Jaqui was very friendly and helpful. She helped us arrange pick up from the airport and drove us to the grocery store the first day. She gave us great advice on things to do on the island and she helped us with booking a fantasic sail trip where we got to swim with turtles. The Shades offers car rental with very affordable prices. We recommend renting one and explore this fantastic island.

The apartments are located only a few minutes walk from one of the best beaches on Barbados. Our children also loved the swimming pool at The Shades. The bus stop is also just a minute walk away, you can take the quiet "official" bus or one of the many "reagge buses" (it's great fun!).

We found this a perfect place to stay with children.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Shades and if we go back to Barbados we would with out a doubt stay here again!!

This is our third stay here. Each time we visit, it feels like we're at home in the sunshine! Perfectly located for visiting the best parts of Barbados. Close to some of the island's top restaurants and a stone throw from Sandy Lane beach. Jackie and Errol are fantastic hosts - great people - whose welcome on each visit ensures your experience of Shades is the best.

We arrived back from Shades at the end of March following our second brilliant holiday there.We stay in apt 5 which is a lovely ground floor apt with a private terrace,apt 5 is a one bedroom apt with lovely walk in shower room,kitchen with everything you need and lounge area with flat sreen tv and lots of sports and film channels.There is a swimming pool set in beautiful gardens which we had to ourselves most of the time.Jacqui,Errol and Errols dad are the friendliest people and nothing is too much trouble.Jacqui will advise you on trips,transportand restaurants and will even take you to the supermarket when you arrive.You can order your groceries to be delivered by the local supermarket before you arrive which we did,when we arrived Jacqui and Errol had taken them into our apt putting some in fridge including a few bottles of beer.
Barbados is a beautiful island and Shades is a 2 min walk from one of the lovely beaches.
It is quite expensive to eat out in Barbados so we ate out about 6 times whilst we were there, on the other nights we went to Daphnes for happy hour cocktail 5-7 to watch the sunset.One of our favorite places to spend an evening is MR VICS he and Karen will make you very welcome and they serve good food and reasonably priced drinks.Mr VICS is 5 mins from Shades and even though you cannot compare it with CIN CIN or TIDES we spent some of our best nights there.
Our favorite restaurants are CIN CIN,it is amazing with beautiful sea views and good food,TIDES (we cant decide between these 2).We also enjoyed Beachouse and Spagos and we love Vics.
On the nights we stayed in we either cooked food from the supermarket or got a takeaway from the roadside chefs which set up near the main road Thur -Sat (try the shrimp kebabs) and sat on our terrace at Shades.
If you are thinking of trying SHADES i am sure you will not be disappointed.
