“Great food and really great atmosphere. Simply superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012 via mobile

Absolutely fantastic! We went there on an incredibly wet night and were immediately cheered up by walking into such a vibrant and buzzing place. We had booked which is crucial if you don't want to be turned away as a lot were. We were immediately taken to our table and we were amazed at the quality of the food. Mix of tapas style starters - chicken skewers ( awesome) and superb calamari - both presented in a novel way. Main courses followed - prawn curry ( the best curry ever according to eldest daughter and wife!) the burger - best ever ( according to middle daughter) and the steak ... You guessed it - best ever according up youngest! My salmon skewers were truly excellent. Puddings were a step too far as we really shouldn't have but - its holiday and they were brilliant - hot chocolate pudding was ... The best!!! Lemon and ginger was great. All in all a really great meal with superb service and a really great atmosphere. We even met the wife of the owner who was the epitome of modesty when we gushed at how good it all was! Absolutely brilliant - if you want a place with tremendous atmosphere - this is it. Cost? $600bd for 5 with drinks for 3 courses so not to bad in this crazy bubble called Barbados!!!

“Mojitos magic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Been here lots of times. Always visit when we are on the island and very often with friends and family who always enjoy the great food, atmosphere and the best Mojitos on the island. What's really good is that each time we visit there is always an innovative, imaginative improvement either in the food or its presentation. This means we never get tired of visiting Scarlet unlike many of the other restaurants on the island. Sign of good proprietors who know their customers who keep coming back. Owners of Cin Cin, Lone Star and Daphne's take note you could learn a lot.

“A buzzy vibe, fab food, a bit quirky and trendy. Loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012 via mobile

Food excellent
Service attentiveness excellent. Really nice team working there and they were great.
Punctuality poor, we had to wait until our table came free and a lady was taking her time.
Atmosphere excellent. Lively, busy, fun!
Would return definitely however would book in advance for a decent time (our fault as it was a Saturday and we booked same day). I'd advise scarlets to let people know that if you sit down at a certain time your table is needed back at a certain time!! It's a small venue and needs two sittings on a Saturday!
Food was great!
We will be back.

“Original”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We have visited Scarlets many times over the years. The menu is unusual and eclectic but fairly basic. Cocktails are pricey but good quality. The tapas style starters are great for sharing. Dips that accompany the Asian chicken skewers and sesame toasts are lovely. Mains are unchanged from year to year but the old favourites such as burgers, fish pie and chicken linguine are good quality. Specials are put on the menu from time to time. This time I had an excellent twice baked cheese souffle for $48 (£16). For dessert, try the excellent ultimate dessert martini - alcohol and cream doesn't get any better.

Service can be a problem. Many other visitors complained of absurdly long waits between courses. We found that if booked early (around 7.30pm) then there was rarely an issue with service. Scarlets however is not cheap. Our bills regularly come to $420-$450 (£140-£150) which, considering the mighty Tides bills come to around $650 (£216) makes it not very cheap.
