overall, nice hotel. we experienced good service,nice ammenities (decent sized ocean front room, turn down service, gym, in room internet, nice toiletries etc). 2 restaurants, both with good service while we were there. helpful concierge booked trips etc even after we left the hotel. narrow beach with sharp dropoff in water and lots of rocks in water. beach service ranged from excellent (compimentary cool towel & popsicles) to non-existant. close to holetown. overall, enjoyable

My husband and I spent relaxing 6 days and 7 nights at the Royal Pavilion. The moment we stepped out of the van and into the beautiful tropical lobby I knew we selected the right hotel. We were greeted by the hotel staff and escorted to the patio over looking the Caribbean where we enjoyed a typical English tea with biscuits. Our room was ready as soon as we finished. I booked a room on the second floor over looking the Caribbean sea. Our room had a beautiful bathroom with shower stall and separate bathtub. The bed comfortable, lots of storage for suitcases and clothes, a balcony with comfortable lounge chairs, a table and two chairs. Of course the view was postcard perfect. Our room cost included breakfast and afternoon tea. The staff members were all very curious and helpful. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant two nights. The prices are expensive but I have to say the food quality is worth it .

If you are looking for a luxury hotel on the beach with great service on the beach including water sports (water skiing, sailing and snorkeling) you should stay at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion.

My husband and I have stayed at the Fairmont on three occasions, the first being in 2005. It was, back then, a lovely hotel, well run and cared for. On our second trip in 2006, we checked out early, and again this year we did the same. Perhaps we were foolish to try again, but this hotel had 'something' in 2005, a certain charm that felt welcoming and a little bit 'old world'. Now, all this charm had dissipated entirely. The rooms are damp and have a lingering damp smell, the decor is dated and no attention has been paid to maintainance over the years. The frist night we arrived, we awoke to find an infestation if insects in the bathroom. Our complaint was met with a shrug of indifference and a lecture on tropical climate - and then we were given a can of insect spray...

The main restaurant used to be enchanting, as it is sitauted right on the sea. Now however, they have adopted a ludicrous dress code, 'no jeans', the menu is stuffy and over-complicated and the ambience is frankly dull. Breakfast is a distaster of a buffet, served by surly, clearly unhappy, or maybe just bored staff. Lunch is best avoided.

The beach is beautiful, and has one of the nicest walks on the west coast. But the sun loungers are ancient, and the constant perstering by the local vendors selling drugs and trinkets makes for a very un-relaxing and sometimes vaguely threatening atmoshphere.

The day after we arrived, we booked into Sandy Lane and left. The management were, to be fair, understanding of our desire to leave, and we appreciated this. Maybe there is some lingering element of the previous charm there, but not enough. This is a dated, run down, poorly staffed hotel and my adivce would be don't go if you want five star accommodation on what is a beautiful Island. It is sad to see the decline in what was a rather nice hotel, but the Fairmont has had it's day, and now there is only one choice on the island for me, Sandy Lane.

The online rating was 5 stars and it was one of the best hotel in the Caribbean. Unfortunately, this was the worst choice we ever made. The customer service was poor. Showers in the room did not work properly, the snacks in the mini bar were old, the rooms smelled,the balcony view was ruined with the people constantly coming & offering drugs. There was more on the beach. We were constantly harassed by people offering us drugs and would not take No for an answer. We were not even been able to leave our belongings on our chairs if we needed to walk away for a minute to grab a drink,in that split second there would be a stranger sitting on our chair. The hotel fails to take the appropriate actions to keep their guests safe and happy. The hotel needs to hire security guards.
