“A real home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

We have just returned from this hotel after a wonderful holiday, the service was second to none they cannot do enough for you. The food is excellent, especially the breakfasts with so much choice. The setting is beautiful ,we spent most of our time by the pool and the pool staff are very efficient, bringing cold towels to refresh and water, the beach is lovely too. The rooms are very clean with efficient maid service, including a complimentary chocolate on your pillow at the night turn down service. The staff are very friendly and we made good friends with them. If you have children they have a tree house club to keep them entertained which they seemed to enjoy very much including the parents! I cannot praise this hotel enough and certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is thinking of going there, we hope to return next year .

Room Tip: We stayed in an orchid room which was spacious and quieter could not fault it at all!

This review is a bit late but we stayed at Sandy Lane in August 2013 to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We have never stayed at a finer hotel in the Caribbean. Sandy Lane lives up to the hype and exceeds it. From the moment we arrived at the airport, reality seemed to stop. We were ushered away by the Pink Ladies and everyone at the hotel knew our names and that it was our anniversary.

The ocean-facing room was amazing. Every morning waking up to that view is sheer joy. Having a late night drink on that patio, with the waves crashing on the beach, is heavenly. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is huge. I expected all of this. What I didn't expect was the technology in the room. For such an old-world resort, this has some really cool James Bond technology in the rooms.

Please, please go to the spa. I'm not a big spa guy, but after our first day, I went with my wife every single day. The little pool in the back, the relaxation room, the massages were all amazing. We could have probably lingered their the whole day if we wanted to.

The food is also quite good. L'Acjou amazed us with our anniversary dinner. I would rate the food as competitive with the upper echelon restaurants in Manhattan but not quite at the very top. The presentation, however, is up to par with the likes of Daniel. Breakfast was also very good and the amount and variety of fruit is what really amazed me. My wife judges an entire breakfast by the quality of the bacon. I'm not sure how reliable this is, but she loved it. One of the nights we simply ordered room service and just watched a movie. It was probably the most relaxing night we had.

I would also recommend the fitness center. I go to the gym every day but my wife abhors it. The equipment is on par with most gyms and it exceeds most hotel gyms. What's really great about it is Junior, the trainer. He very nicely put my wife through a 30 minute routine and showed her how to use all the equipment. And my wife actually listened to him! Hmmm...maybe I should take some lessons from Junior...

Needless to say, my wife was extraordinarily impressed with my choice. I don't want to give too much away, but if you are celebrating something, please let the hotel know. We got quite a few little anniversary surprises that just added to the experience. I would go back to Sandy Lane in a heartbeat, perhaps with the children next time.

It is an honor and a pleasure to write a review for this hotel. Definitely the hotel with the best service in the world. The facilities, the beach, the activities, the Spa, the care received (even from the managers directly) are impeccable and the only thing left to say is that I will be back.

The rooms are spectacular, spacious with a large balcony and all the technological advances at hand. A computer on the side table allows direct access to all services and bookings.

When arriving in Barbados airport one feels in Sandy Lane already. Attentive staff members greeted us at the steps of the plane, escorted us through immigration and embarked us on a luxury car direct to the hotel.

The restaurants are very good and great service. both the formal restaurants as the beach bars.

A cute, spectacular and highly recommended hotel.

Room Tip: Beach View.

This hotel is absolutely stunning; it really is hard to fault it. Having stayed there in 2006, we went back this past christmas (2013) for another week, and it was honestly one of the best weeks I think we've spent away.
(Although, albeit, the prices are ridiculous, and there are annoying things like it costs, for example, $200 to get a ride from the airport to the hotel (but the car only seats 3 people) so it's simple not possible for families for 4.

Those itty-bitty details aside, the hotel is stunning, and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. We felt at home from the moment we arrived, and it just got better.

Unfortunately, the hotel (with it being 'famous'), does attract some families and people who think they 'own it all'... which often makes for a less than perfect experience (just because it puts a bit of a damper on the holiday).

The rooms are superb, the beach is fab, the water is deep, very clear, and warm, the restaurants are great (although rigid in their menu which wouldn't be best for young kids), and the overall experience... you just can't beat it.

Room Tip: We had the Orchid Suite (2-bedroom) which was perfect for families.

I am currently sitting at the beach bar at the Sandy Lane hotel, having been here for 18 days. We leave on Saturday (very sadly), but we will be back. We have been coming for about eight years now and there is nowhere better. The service is second to none, the rooms are fabulous, the food is amazing, best year ever, and the bars are just fab.
Mchelle Babb, Alpha, and tons of others do everything to make sure your holiday is spot on, and we cant thank them enough. It is expensive, but honestly it is worth every single penny.
If you can, spoil yourself, you wont be disappointed. (Please note, most disparaging remarks are made by people NOT hotel residents, therefore with restricted access).

when we went to Barbados we managed to get into one of the best hotels in the world, twice for drinks and meals , the security was very strict and driving through the grounds was a pleasure on the eye , we were met by a lovely American pr lady and escorted to the reception , amazing marble everywhere , the monkey bar was extremely comfortable with some of the best drinks from around the world , I even took photos of the toilet it was amazing , we were entertained by a combo and the service was exceptional , the restaurant was as you would expect one of the most professional with a great selection of fresh cooked food , the selection of wines was huge . we did not stay in the hotel but were invited back for a tour of the place and facilities. roll on the lottery win till I return . a truly amazing place
