“The best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

We don't do many reviews, and truth be told last year was possibly going to be our last as it was only OK (come here for a week in October for the last 10 years) - but this year all has changed - it is the best - it is old Sandy Lane but with a new twist and vitality - doesn't take you for granted - service is amazing - the food is brilliant - . We'll be back and will so look forward to it.

Room Tip: Orchid is very good, not much need to upgrade

I have visited Sandy Lane many times and to date it has been one of my favourite places in the world. The location and ambience always live up to every expectation but on this trip somthing went badly awry. We booked a lunch from London and arrived with high hopes. However the antipasta was the poorest selection of any we have ever had and the barbecue left a lot to be desired.
To add insult to injury, despite our dissapointment we returned for afternoon tea 2 days later. The tea arrived promptly but the sandwiches and teacakes came three quarters of an hour later by which time the tea was cold!!
The staff were charming and aplogetic but the edge of pleasure on both occasions was severely dented!!

This was our second visit to sandy lane for Sunday brunch. Have to say this is very nice.great food great service and a bajan blue restaurant which really delivers. I would recommend this lunch as a treat to anyone who likes the good things in life but for 450 used I expect lobster. !!!

We were lucky enough to visit this amazing hotel in October this year.
The hotel is elegant, stylish and ooozes charm. It's one of the most perfect breaks I've ever had.
The staff are really what makes this hotel so fabulous, such wonderful warm and friendly people.
Breakfast was always a delight, food fresh and cooked perfectly. Sitting on the beach enjoying breakfast with the most fabulous views is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Our room was large and elegant, with views out to the sea. I wish I was there now!!!
We ate at Bajan Blue for Sunday lunch which was delicious and also had dinner in L'Acajou, again food perfect.
Anyway back to a rainy England and hoping it's not too long before I return to the wonderful island of Barbados!

Sandy Lane has to be one of the best hotels in the world. From arrival to departure the staff are attentive and their service faultless. The food delicious. Try walking along the beach at midnight - the peace and beauty are stunning. A wonderful place to escape to.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

My husband surprised me with this decadent trip of 5 nights (a bucket list item). The trip started in Miami when he flew in our dear friends as an additional surprise. The 4 of us flew to Barbados where we were greeted (after being fast-tracked through customs) by a pink-suited SL representative. Whisked off to SL in 2 different Mercedes Benz sedans (driven by David and Justin - excellent service by both), we stepped into the foyer and were greeted warmly by Alpha, Guest Services Manager (who is also an excellent dancer we came to learn!) We were checked-in in our Dolphin Wing rooms and hit the beach. The beach attendants Mark, Larry & Marlon took outstanding care of us. We also had a chance to use the workout room 3 different times and participate in a spa day. Dale and Roseanne did a great job there for us. We frequented the boutiques and sundries shops as well as the restaurants. The first night we dined at L'Acajou which was good but the service was a little overly intrusive. It was our first night together and we just wanted to sit back and talk and laugh but I felt that they were trying just a little too hard. I still can't fault them though. I'd rather have that kind of service than the opposite. We decided to eat at Bajan Blue for the following evening's Asian Buffet. Inwardly, I cringed. A buffet? Thoughts of Olde Country Buffet creeped into my head. What a pleasant surprise! The food and service were outstanding! I was able to try things I'd not had before and we all ended up saying it was one of the most enjoyable nights of the trip. Room for improvement? It's a stretch, but I always try to say something constructive. The beach is crowded. I mean really crowded. We had lovely people lounging near us - certainly not troublesome, but you are really on top of each other. Also, all of those beautiful marble floors throughout the resort are SLIPPERY. They do a wonderful job of putting up reminder placards that it is slick but just be careful! Other than that, how can we complain? Sandy Lane, "you done good." Many thanks.

Room Tip: The ocean front Dolphin Wing rooms are great - away from a lot of the restaurant action but close to...

When you leave the baggage hall the experience begins. It ends when you leave the jet centre. Excellent service (caribbean style), nice friendly staff who remember your names even though you only visit once a year. The whole package sea, sun, hotel facilities, country club, golf, spa, pool and restaurants are excellent. Entertainment good but a little sparce this year. The food was excellent everywhere with L'Acajou the best since Grant.

Room Tip: Ocean front room and breakfast on the balcony.
