“Beautiful”

Sandy Lane Hotel

We loved this place, beautiful, traditional hotel. Not fighting to be the trendiest, with infinity pools etc. Simply elegant. Friendly, efficient staff. Very relaxing and tranquil spa. Apparently good golf courses, according to hubby, although I didn't play i ventured up to the club house for lunch, spectacular scenery. Great food. Good for kids too as noticed the kids club members dotted about all with at least one member per child. The only slight down point was the beds under the trees on the beach.. lots of bits land on you! though the jet ski's took my mind off the bits. Try Daphne's for lunch, lovely.. the Tides for dinner and of course one not to be missed is the amazing Cliff restaurant. Overall a very pleasant experience.

“You can"t get much better than this”

Sandy Lane Hotel

May 10, 2008

Amazing once again from start to finish. I absolutely love this hotel - it has the most beutiful luxurious rooms l have ever seen . We stayed in the luxury ocean room, but we have seen all the rooms and can say each design is great. If you like perfection and are picky about a very clean hotel there is not a speck of dirt anywhere.

The beach is definetely the best on the island (that we've seen) - it is not my favorite beach in the carribean but you just can"t beat this hotel. The staff where so friendly and helpful I did not come across anyone with attitude - staff or customers.

This hotel is really really expensive - but for me, it is worth every penny. My husband and l enjoy the finer things in life and this is one of them. We just came back and am planning our next vacation there. Enjoy!!!!

“A Week in Paradise”

Sandy Lane Hotel

May 9, 2008

We have just returned from a fabulous week in Sandy Lane to celebrate some 40th birthdays. There were 6 adults and 5 children (ranging in age from 5 to 13) in our party and we all had the most amazing holiday! The hotel is stunningly elegant and on a beautiful beach. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, you feel as if you have been going there for years. The service is very efficient too which is not normally a feature in Barbados!! To celebrate the birthdays, Sandy Lane set up a table on the beach for the 6 adults, where we enjoyed delicious food from their L'acajou Restaurant. Our children loved the kids club and teen centre, complete with plasma TVs, pool tables, juke box, Wii, Playstation, computers etc, not to mention the fantastic staff there who played soccer on request (no mean feat in that heat and humidity)! Our children also learned to surf and waterski. The surf lessons were by a fantastic guy at the hotel sports centre and the waterskiing was by Bert, an independent guy on the beach, who was so patient and chilled (unlike the cranky watersports staff at the Royal Pavilion). Bert also had a water couch, which our kids adored, as he'd whiz along the coast with it attached to his speedboat. We also took a catamaran called "Shasa", owned by Jason O'Neill, up the coast to swim with the turtles. The catamaran takes a max of 12 and is a much more personal experience than the huge, cattlemarket catamarans and you'll get some great banter out of Jason and Tristan and some good local knowledge and restaurant info. We had dinner at The Cliff, which is spectacular and a MUST DO!! We also had dinner at the gorgeous Lonestar. Last time we were there, a turtle came up on to the beach to lay her eggs. We had beautiful interconnecting rooms with our children in the Orchid wing and had a lovely sea view. Our single friends stayed in an Ocean view room, which is almost twice the price but slightly nearer the beach. We had breakfast on our terrace most mornings, which was always delicious and beautifully presented. Alternatively, you can go for the buffet at Bajan Blue. This place is amazing! We are counting the minutes until we come back!!

“Wonderful Hotel, Lovely Staff”

Sandy Lane Hotel

We had two weeks in an Orchid suite. The hotel is beautiful throughout. Everywhere you go there is someone eager to help. The restaurants and bars are well stocked and run. The real difference is made by the people who work there. Vickie Borman runs the buffet restaurant. She was always very friendly and helpful. Francia Serieux also worked in the restaurant and shared Vickie`s charm and desire to make the stay a pleasure. Paul Alleyne, front of house mgr, was always on hand to arrange things and make you feel special. Richard Small is a big guy and great fun (don`t play him at dominoes) Apologies to all the others I haven`t named who were equally friendly and genuine.

My little gripe is with the customers using mobile phones whilst people were eating or trying to relax. This annoyed a lot of people and needs addressing.

Overall I would say, if you can afford to go , then book it. It is the best on the Island and probably in the Caribbean.

“Idyllic perfection”

Sandy Lane Hotel

May 4, 2008

Sandy Lane Hotel is absolute perfection. I have just returned from a 10 day break there and am sorely missing the place already. There are not enough superlatives to describe Sandy Lane, but I will try anyway.
We stayed in an Ocean View Deluxe room, so on our first day we could sit on the balcony and watch the sun set on a perfect afternoon. The room was amazing; very large, with an outstanding Video/Audio system. In addition, there is free Wi-Fi throughout the Hotel so you can pick up internet/email in your room, by the beach and by the Pool. On arrival, the Hotel will press two items of clothing each complimentary and also provide a daily shoe shine. There are complimentary tea/coffee making facilities and each night during turn-down you get water/chocolates.
Breakfast is in the Bajan blue restaurant and caters for your every need. There is a separate eggs/pancakes/waffles station as well as a separate smoothly section.
You are allocated a specific sun bed on the beach on day 1 that is yours for the duration of your stay. Consequently you avoid the annoying European habit of getting up at the crack of dawn to bag a sun bed. Contrary to previous submissions, there are plenty of places available to be in the sun or shade. The beach is amazing and as good as anywhere on the South coast of the island.
The Pool is excellent. There are a plethora of people in Vilebrequin shorts; if you want to be an individual leave yours at home, although they are sold in the Hotel clothes shop.
During our stay we spent half a day on a catamaran and swam with the Turtles / Tropical fish. Avoid the booze-bus type large catamarans and choose a more intimate one. We also drove round the island which is easy to navigate. Also Holetown is a 15 minute walk away and is worth a visit if only to get £3 rum from the supermarket - cheaper than duty free stores and duty free at the Airport.
I could go on, but there is insufficient time. The Hotel also has Tennis and Golf facilities but you will need proper equipment to use these. Only tennis shoes are allowed.
