“Highly recommended!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

I think most of the negative reviews about Crystal Cove say much more about the reviewer than the resort especially when you read under a headline of ‘Disappointing’ such dramatic and tragic news that “in the bathroom a tap fell off but was fixed while we had dinner”. If you are interested we had a blocked loo and this was fixed within 30 minutes.
We have just returned from 10 nights at Crystal Cove and we had a thoroughly lovely time there. Yes, if you are expecting absolute perfection then you will see flaws – occasional small items of maintenance that ought to have been attended to – but a holiday is a complete package and I for one do not go so that I can take a minute by minute diary of any irritations that might arise while I am there.
All staff without exception were very attentive, polite and cheerful. Our room, a wonderful Ocean View Suite with living room and two bathrooms (241), was kept very clean. The beach is gorgeous and there is plenty of space so that unlike at the Colony Club you don’t have to sit a mere 2 feet away from your neighbour. It is really a very short walk from the beach to the bar for drinks and so I didn’t really miss a beach service as did another reviewer. Needed the exercise anyway!!
The food is very good and only one a la carte evening meal we felt didn’t offer proper presentation and quality. Otherwise there was plenty of choice at each meal time, buffet style or a la carte. I would say, however, that the presentation of the food at the buffet servery areas could do with some improvement. I would agree that the drinks service at meal times sometimes lagged with insufficient staff working the Cave bar.
Evening entertainment was every other evening and was a fairly quite affair; typically a band of only average quality. I would have preferred more but of course other guests may like it that way. I missed not having a beach bar with louder DJ sounds but I knew it was quiet when I booked.
I think that overall the resort is quite delightful and would thoroughly recommend it. We would definitely go there again especially as we got engaged while we were there!

We booked the resort as the venue for our wedding; the hotel and the staff were amazing. We had booked a deluxe ocean-view room, which was nice but a little on the small side but nether the less had a great view of the ocean.

The food in the main restaurant was fantastic both at lunch and during dinner service, the staff were very friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough for us.

We have to give a special thanks to the events coordinator Lisa and her assistant Rhea for arranging the wedding, you made the day perfect and we can't thank you enough for all your hard work and efforts.

Looking forward to returning to celebrate our first anniversary with you.

Many thanks again

John & Tinse.

We visited Barbados for Easter, 6 nights myself, husband 2 children (14 & 15) and were then joined by my parents in law for 5 nights. The all inclusive experience is to recommended for 3 generation families- it takes away any pressure for who should pay for what!
We have visited crystal cove a number of times, we have though that it gets better and better each time we go- this year was exceptional. the staff are so welcoming and did an excellent job looking after us.
The food has improved beyond all recognition and the buffets at both reflections and drifters are to be heartily recommended. The soups are the tastiest i have ever had (I came home with 2 recipes!) If you are lucky enough to be there for a buffet on the north beach, you will see the beach transformed and eat your supper with the sand between your toes whilst being entertained by Mama Sally and the man with VERY long legs (actually they are stilts) Awesome evening.
The water sports are fantastic and the yellow fin staff are superb. Love the water taxi on which I would recommend a trip down to Colony Club, walk back either along the beach or road to the Chattel Village and then a yellow bus back to Crystal-perfect excursion before lunch!
The sun beds are fantastic with canopies that really do get you out of the sun, the beach is scrupulously clean and the sea blissfull.

Stayed for 14 nights from 28th March with 3 adults, 16 & 15 year old boys and 12 & 11 year old girls. We had 2 ocean view rooms plus a one bedroom ocean view suite.
The good points of the resort were the water sports run by Yellowfin, grounds were kept immaculate, good selection of drinks (especially cocktails!).

Now for our experience! We found the staff miserable and if we asked for anything it seemed like too much trouble. Service in Reflections was extremely slow. When asking for drinks or desserts we would be giving our order and the waitress would be walking away while we were telling her, very rude!!! Drinks in restaurant are slow arriving because the cave bar does Reflections orders plus serves anyone going up to the bar but there was normally only one bar person working, more staff needed behind bar. One night we wanted to eat at Drifters but they were fully booked so my husband had arranged with the Refkections manager that we could have the Driftets menu in Reflections. This was written down next to our booking but when we went to order the food the waitress huffed and puffed at us and questioned us about had we arranged this. I had my meal off the Reflections menu and I had eaten my starter and main before everyone else's starter had even arrived from Drifters. Appalling service!!! Other reviews say about drinks being constantly topped up in the restaurant. This happened once and it was when the children had gone into dinner before us so we were only 3 adults. We actually received the best service that night so made us wonder if the staff don't like big groups or children?

Food in the restaurant was often good except if you order steak expect it to be cooked well done no matter how you ask for it to be cooked! The first week the fish was so over cooked that it actually had the texture and taste of chicken! Second week I think we must have had a different chef because the fish was cooked to perfection! There's a children's buffet each night in Reflections. At lunch time Drifters did burgers and hotdogs or in Reflections there was always a burger on the menu along with a la carte meals. If you do eat in Reflections at lunchtime with children then you can ask for the children's menu.

There are 3 small swimming pools and we spent our whole 2 weeks sat by the middle pool, which is the smallest. To be honest it was like having our own private pool because most people seem to go on the beach. The sun loungers by the middle pool were so comfortable although you can't lay on your front on them. You have to go to the bar for your drinks, would have been nice to be spoiled with a member of staff bringing you drinks. Plenty of staff clearing up all the time, as soon as you finished a drink someone would be there to take the dirty cups away. Occasionally we were given ice lollies, jelly or a drink (squash kind of drink) but they seemed to be limited so if they ran out before getting to you and didn't get anything.

Evening entertainment most nights, which was mainly singers. Very good but every night each singer sang "Jar of Hearts" so I never want to hear that song ever again! We did have interruptions to the evening entertainment with no apology from the hotel. A TV programme was being filmed on the beach at the resort for 3 seperate evenings. The bands playing either had to stop performing and played so quietly we couldn't hear them because of the filming. On one night my daughters and friends they had made at the resort got told to be quiet by the film crew even though we were no where near the filming plus I do apologise but I thought we were on holiday and we'd paid a lot of money to be there!

Now for the rooms! In the suite the main bedroom has a super king size bed, lots of draws and wardrobe space and a bathroom. Living room was a good size with a complimentary mini bar that was replenished each day and it's own bathroom. In that bathroom the tap fell off but was fixed while we had dinner.
In one of the other rooms we had the toilet became blocked so we reported it before going for our evening meal. The next day still no one had been so we had to report it again and finally it was fixed. This was not good enough!

Overall the resort didn't live up to our expectations, especially after reading previous reviews on here. I would return to Barbados but not this resort.

What a fantastic place, we got married on the 1st Nov 2012 on the beach at crystal cove. It was from the minute we arrived at the airport to our transfer perfect for the whole 14 days!!! Our party of 13 in total had gorgeous food, cocktails, sunshine, lovely rooms and lots of relaxation. Rhea was our wedding co-ordinator who really looked after us and her attention to detail was amazing, she made our dream wedding come true. Thank you to all the staff at Crystal Cove for giving us an unforgettable holiday. We look forward to coming back on future anniversaries......

Arrived Easter Sunday, party x 9 / grandparents to grandchildren. Very nicely appointed accommodation (one bedroom garden view suite). After a disastrous Easter Sunday evening meal, the food / meals couldn't get any better, all excellent. The house wine needs changing & an uplift to the spirit brands available in the bar. However, overall, an excellent, well managed / well run hotel. Great staff, excellent managers / supevisors - nothing too much trouble. Grandchildren already clamouring for a return visit next year - if not sooner !! One of the best beaches around.

Room Tip: Would recommend a sea view one bedrtoom suite near "Drifters".

We stayed at Crystal Cove in March to celebrate an upcoming "landmark birthday" and could not have chosen better. The hotel has a warm and friendly feel, with superb service from all of the staff at every level, who always have a genuine smile and greeting for the guests. Restaurants are of a high standard and the food is excellent. Our room was upgraded to a lovely garden suite which had just undergone its refurbishment, and was beautiful, bright and spacious. Pools are cleverly landscaped to meander around the grounds, and although small, were never crowded. The white-sand beach is very quiet and clean, with excellent quality sun beds with individual sunshades - and again, friendly service with refreshments brought to you whenever requested. Watersports are plentiful without being obtrusive, with quality equipment and knowledgable staff. This hotel is an absolute gem and we will definitely return!
