“Breath taking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012 via mobile

The views from the cemetery are great. I was there in Feb. 2011. I hired a cab for half a day and explored the island.(I have a thing for church's and stained glass.) The original church was built in the 1600's but was destroyed in a storm. The present structure was built in the 1800's and is a good example of gothic architecture. The grounds are well maintained and the people are lovely. The cemetery behind the church over looks the Atlantic ocean. From, I think, 1600 feet up the view is beautiful. I can only imagine what the sun rises are like from this vantage point. A little bite of a ride from the port but well worth it. You get to see some of the interior of the island going to and fro.

“Interesting church.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

See history at this church some very old graves. Including the grave of Barbados' former Prime Minister. Great view of the east coast from here as the church sits on the edge of a cliff.

“Another Great Charming Piece of Barbados History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011

A Really classic Gothic church on a cliff overlooking the picturesque East Coast. Built in 1836 to replace the previous church that had been destroyed by a hurricane, St. John's boasts a fantastic view of the island as well as a churchyard in which rests the remains of Ferdinando Paleologus, a descendent of Emperor Constantine the Great. The cemetery also contains the remains of the youngest Prime Minister of Barbados who passed away in October 2010. Inside the church is also a pulpit built of several different types wood including some of the local mahogany took two of the locals five years to make it.
