“Horse racing & Sunshine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

An afternoon's horseracing in the sunshine with everything in one place. Grandstand seating, big(ish) screen, easy betting with food and drink available. Grandstand seating costs 20Bd$ (about £7) for 6 hours of entertainment, great value.

“Great day out!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Worth a visit on your trip to Barbados for sure - both locals and tourists present and the atmosphere is great. Sat in the grandstand ($20BBD) which is good spot to watch from as the finish line is directly ahead. Surprised by how involved and excited everyone got no matter how much they put on the race. If its your first time at the races be sure to buy the $10BBD programme once you have paid for entry as it not only gives you more information about the jockeys but also tells you about the different types of bets that you can make - win, place, forecast, quinella etc.

“Fabulous day at the races!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

We watched race day from the main grandstand seats (front row) which is definitely best spot although take plenty water as the sun beats down on this side of the bleachers as the afternoon goes on. Fabulous view of winners circle, home strait and the finishing line as well as being nice and near the betting office counters! We had great beginners luck & won some money. To eat, we enjoyed a snack lunch from one of the roadside ladies - flying fish sandwich bun - so fresh and really delicious. There is a bar in the stadium which is great for the cool drinks. Great atmosphere, ceremony, excitement....and we definitely felt the earth move when those horses came thundering down towards the finish line! Fabulous day out! Loved it!

“Gold Cup, where the horses run backwards”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We recently attended the "Sandy Lane Gold Cup" and what a blast! The whole event is festival-like, and the horses even run backwards. By that I mean the horses run clock-wise instead of running counter-clockwise as they do in Canada. Special thanks to Mohammed who made the day special for us!
