Description: The restaurant initially began as a wholesale distributor for the island's hotels and restaurants. Cooked takeaway service was added; along with a friendly free beer while you wait. Shortly after that the health inspector demanded we go the whole way or "wholesale only". This was around 1998. Long time friend and fellow musician with the local VSOP Jazz band "Stu Jenkins" became the resident artist (designer) and we named the up coming restaurant "LOBSTER ALIVE and all that Jazz". We felt our way; with many of the usual restaurant mistakes. But it seems now, we have scored quite well with international critics, restaurant guide books; and our many repeat customers.

“Great food and entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We went on one of the jazz nights. We were seated as soon as we arrived and as we were now used to waiting in Barbados, we were ok with waiting for the waiters to bring the menus etc. There are tables in the balcony and some on the terrace on the beach. The speciality is lobster and they have them swimming but you cannot choose which one. From the menu, you choose by weight and one of the chefs will go to the bassin to get one andprepareitto your liking. The food is amazing and the entertainment matches what is on the plate. We had a great time and highly recommend this place.Make sure you book and remember there is free outside parking.

“Excellent Lobster”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is the second time we have been here--both were lunchtime visits.
This restaurant supplies most of the Lobster to all of the other restaurants on the island and are these flown in from the genadines by Light Aircraft.
Now--This reastaurant is as close to the beach as you can get without actually being on it!
Its very rustic and very much a shack. --But be prepared for a superb lobster meal.
--Though dont let the surroundings fool you. You are going to get a very big bill.
.--But you did want excellent lobster didn't you?

“A MUST during your trip to Barbados!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Let me just say this: I've been just as excited about writing this review about Lobster Alive as I was to eat there! Man! What an awesome restaurant. If you love lobster, they may have to call the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) to get you to leave because this lobster is so good lol.

First off, it's in a perfect location, situated directly on the beach in at the southern tip of Bridgetown, with an amazing view of Carlisle Bay. Go late afternoon for lunch or very early evening for dinner, and the sunset view is going to blow you away.

Now to the lobsters. If you're a northerner like me, you're use to lobsters with claws. Not here. These lobsters are personally flown in by the owner once a week from St. Vincent, so they're of the spiny species - no claws, and they walk upright. The fun part is, you can see them all for yourself in the huge tank located right inside the restaurant. They come in various sizes, from SM to XL and even bigger! They parboil them first, and then grill them to perfection. Trust me when I tell you - you've never experienced lobster until you've eaten here. It's their specialty.

Need I say more? If you're going to Barbados, make a reservation for Lobster Alive. They tend to get busy, and this is a dining experience you surely won't want to miss!

“Small but worth it”

They have a giant lobster tank where you can see all the lobsters which is pretty cool. I like how some of the restaurant is on the beach so you feel relaxed. There lobsters are delicious, so definitely get one.
