Description: The restaurant initially began as a wholesale distributor for the island's hotels and restaurants. Cooked takeaway service was added; along with a friendly free beer while you wait. Shortly after that the health inspector demanded we go the whole way or "wholesale only". This was around 1998. Long time friend and fellow musician with the local VSOP Jazz band "Stu Jenkins" became the resident artist (designer) and we named the up coming restaurant "LOBSTER ALIVE and all that Jazz". We felt our way; with many of the usual restaurant mistakes. But it seems now, we have scored quite well with international critics, restaurant guide books; and our many repeat customers.

“Great Sunday Jazz Brunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Definitely recommended for the delicious oversized lobsters, beach view, and great local jazz! Sit outside on the beach and enjoy! Little pricey, but definitely worth it!

“Lovely food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

The restaurant setting is lovely, you are right on the beach.

I had the crab backs for starters then the fish of the day. It was all good, the food was tasty and you had a lot of food. My husband had the lobster thermidor, and that was heaven.

The staff are friendly, and very accommodating. The surroundings are great, there is a great embience. The jazz being played in the back ground is soothing.

“Pick your own lobster”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

We stumbled upon this place while walking down the beach one day. We were hot and thristy. This place is small but everyone is so friendly and the rum punch is good!! We had appetizers which were good but if you wanted lobster you could choose your own and they would gladly cook it for you or you could take it go. This place has personality and is fun to watch people on the beach.

“Almost perfect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

Wonderful evening here in august. Great location on beach. Informal and the jazz band and setting created lovely atmosphere. Lobster tail tasty but tough as frozen because tanks are dry at this time of the year. Expensive considering this. Kids menu consisted plain pasta or chicken nuggets and chips which is limited. Also inexcusably shabby - the 120euro per head price range ( average for simple meal I reckon) certainly justifies more attention as it's not exactly shabby chic and it would appear they are resting on the laurels of former glory which isn't too clever. All saying did have great night and will be back to try fresh lobster when back in season
