“Good value All Inclusive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2013

We stayed at The Island Inn for the first two weeks of December 2013, the welcome from Sharon on the front desk was warm and sincere, thank you Sharon for all your help during our stay.
We had a Superior garden/pool room which was comfortable, spacious, well equipped and very quiet.

The food was adequate with lunch being our favourite, dinner was a bit hit and miss!

The bar staff were excellent with Gerry making great cocktails and being very entertaining as was Cain. Earl was a lovely chap who managed to make almost alcohol free spirit mixed drinks ! White spirits did run our for a couple of days which was poor, however this may have been the 'Courtyard Crowd' drinking the bar dry one night !!

Special thanks for the lovely surprise on our wedding anniversary, you made our day very special indeed and one of the best we can remember.

The location is great with Carlisle Bay on the doorstep with crystal clear warm water and soft white sand underfoot.

Bridgetown is a 10 minute taxi or bus ride away and walkable in 20 mins.

The Racecourse is also just down the road 5 mins away and you can see the racehorses being exercised on the beach and in the sea most mornings, a lovely sight.

The staff are very helpful and friendly, nothing seems too much trouble, they are like one big happy family.
We have been to Barbados on 10 previous occasions and stayed in various hotels on the South and West coasts, would we return to The Island Inn, yes we would, we loved it.

Tora, your staff and hotel are a credit to you, a 3 star with 5 star touches, keep it up.

See you again.

Room Tip: Pool / garden rooms are best for peace and quiet !

A great hotel to relax and unwind in Barbados. Hotel is excellently located and beach is just around the corner, literally a couple of mins walk. Whilst there are no sun beds on the beach, these can be rented for US$15 (£9.20) a day for 2 beds and an umbrella.

The hotel is clean, food good and the room we stayed in (a superior Garden Room) was located right next to the pool. It is the staff who make this hotel and those of particular note are:

- Carol and Sharon on reception - they are stars and nothing is too much trouble;
- Vanessa the chef - her food is wonderful; and
- Jerry the barman - he makes the most brilliant cocktails.

The only let down for me if I am honest, and trying to provide a balanced view is that when problems do happen, and I am a realist and understand they do, they can take a while to sort our. An example of this would be when the hotel ran out of Vodka, Gin and Bicardi - it took 3 days for these to be replaced - something I feel could have been resolved a lot quicker.

In summary however, I would go back and would recommend this as a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Superior Garden Rooms are good.

We chose the Island Inn largely because of its TripAdvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed.
We selected a Junior Suite to ensure that we had plenty of space and ours came we 2 single beds and a king size that was so high it had steps to reach it with. Similarly, the bathroom was very modern and had a walk-in shower and another over the bath.
Meals were served in the restaurant which was on a covered balcony which enabled customers to select either a shady or a sunny position. Choice was limited because of the small number of guests but there was always something for everyone's taste. The staff were all efficient and forever smiling and joking with the guests.
If you want a beach holiday then the hotel is just 100yds from Pebble Beach where beach umbrellas and sun beds are available for hire.

Others have described the setting. The room I had near the pool was great, high ceiling and roomy and great air conditioning. (The sink drains work by pushing down, spring loaded.)

The food is good though not noteworthy. British breakfast. Some good items in the evening. Nice relaxed private courtyard setting. Nice staff.

About a two minute walk to the public beach, between the Hilton and the Radison (? under new management).

The staff members were super friendly ... starting with Carol at the reception desk and the bartenders such as Earl who picked a fruit from a tree and made a local drink for me to sample.

Don't expect much from this hotel. It is small and limited.

However, if you accept that, I think you will enjoy your stay.

We were excited to visit the island. The hotel was in the middle of restraining floors so for the first part of our vacation we ate inside. Outside eating was much better. The food was only adequate. There was no help to take our suitcases to the room which was a shame. The room was OK but not enough outlets and the bathroom lighting was poor.
Service was variable, very good to very slow as on our last night there were not enough staff to serve us all in a timely fashion.
As we were leaving early the next morning they promised us a packed snack for breakfast. This did not appear.
Our five days were restful but we would not return as there was very little to do in and around the surrounding area of St Michael.

Room Tip: Choose a room near the pool.

Better late than never, this review is from December 2012. Chose this hotel because it's small, all inclusive and the amazing reviews.
Does it live up to praise, yes it does and more!....Management always there to listen and to ensure you have all you want and need, well done Thora.
Reception service, absolutely top of the class, service with a capital S.
Waiting staff, so friendly and thoughtful they want you to be happy and always have a lovely genuine greeting for you.
The restaurant is really good, it's very well presented and it feels special. Fabulous breakfast my favourite, pancakes everyday mmmmm, lunch, tasty burgers and hotdogs toasted sandwiches, fries all really good. Dinner is so civilised at the Island Inn with candles and white tablecloths so much nicer than other places we have been which were more like glorified canteens!!! Lovely wine, red or white and your glasses filled without you having to ask.
The bar, I remember looking at the cocktail list and asking the barman which ones were included in the all inclusive package, his answer, all of them!! Have stayed at some nice hotels and this was the first time every drink on the list was included, what a refreshing change.....tried working my way through the list but couldn't reach the end, lovely fruit smoothies, everything you could want really.
The rooms, spacious, classy accessories and kept nice and clean, any problems, a word in someones ear and it's done! apart from the noisy monkeys.....
Not a place for children, it's a place which attracts like minded people who enjoy relaxing and a chat if you want or not, it's up to you. Bar closes at 11pm so you more or less know you aren't going to be disturbed by 'other types' of holiday makers!
Would we return, yes we would and we are in just under three weeks we will be there, sooooooooooo looking forward to it. So, if you like quiet, beautiful surroundings and good food this is the place for you.
See you soon
Shaun and Linda

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely, just choose from your budget, there is choice for every taste!
