I took the tour of the house in the daytime, and enjoyed the enthusiasm of The guide about the way in which they had been able to research and restore the house. There is an interesting museum upstairs which explores the wider Barbados history, as well as the links with George Washington. The house, gardens and outbuildings are beautiful.
I would highly recommend the 'dinner with George'. I attended on 27th January and had a wonderful evening. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, accompanied with wine, with the waiting staff in period costume. The music was beautiful, two musicians, also in period dress added to the atmosphere. The hosting was superb, with interesting anecdotes about the island, historical facts and figures and details about George Washington keeping us entertained and enthralled between courses.
Added to that was the company. Events like this throw you together with people you may never have met in other circumstances, which makes for fascinating dinner table conversations and really makes for a delightful experience.
If you are in Barbados on a Monday night, this is a must do!
