“Very interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We visited the George Washington House as part of the Garrison tour. The tour started out with a 15-20 minute long video made by the historical society, which was an interesting view into the past, George Washingtons visit and the impact Barbados has had on him during his stay. Also we got to see live video from the walk ways underneath the Garrison. The house is in good condition and all the rooms on the first floor are furnished, I especially found the Kitchen interesting! the gardens around the house is well kept. I recommend visiting this attraction if you are interested in history!

“Because it's there?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We were staying a 5 minute walk away so it made sense to pay this a visit.

Worth a trip, particularly if you are a fan of American history. The museum upstairs also charts the slave trade and other influential characters.

Has been tastefully remodelled but the whole thing is a little under-whelming.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Having read the various reviews we thought it worth dropping by while near Bridgetown. The place was devoid of other visitors so we got a personal guided tour. Guide was friendly and gave an interesting commentary. We also watched the video which gave a good introduction. The house is well presented with the ground floor rooms furnished as bedrooms and a very impressive dining hall with a kitchen adjacent to the main house. Upstairs is a small GW display long with some information about slavery. The gardens are compact but well presented and a cafe completes the tour. Ample parking. Finally, as we are UK members of the National Trust, and able to present a NT card we got in for free!

“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

The house is just a few hundred yards off the road that runs through the St. Lawrence Gap tourist area and Bridgetown. It's a lovely side trip. The guide we encountered was kind and generous and obviously loves his job!
