“Good to swim with turtles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

This beach is quite a walk from the port, best to take a taxi. Soft sand to relax on. The sea is warm and clear. I went in search of turtles and found a couple. Later went on Nevilles glassbottom boat. Swam with large green and hawksbill turtles. Later went to the ship wreck and snorlked over them. Lots of colourful fish. Neville served some tasty rumpunch on returning to his boat! A nice beach to spend the day on.

“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

This is a gorgeous beach with chair and umbrella rentals. However, it can be very crowded with people from the cruise ships that are there for the day. There are facilities and a fun place to eat and drink right on the beach. Bring your snorkel gear and swim out to the submerged shipwrecks for a great view of millions of fish and sea turtles! So much fun!!! Very calm waters and soft sandy beaches.

“Excellent beach for swimming and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Carlisle Bay is excellent for swimming with smooth white sand. We regularly went there late afternoon to have a swim and watch the locals wind down playing beach tennis or just having a laugh. The water is lovely and the sand is fab. No rocks in the water unlike some beaches on the west coast.

There is a free carpark close to the Bay Street Esplanade with easy access to the beach.

The turtles are just off the shore but I haven't swum out to them myself although some people do.

“Nice beach - Good snorkling (PS-you can walk out to see the turtles)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

We spent our Barbados cruise day at Carlisle Bay. $25 each way for the 5 of us for taxi and $8/person for chair and umbrella. The beach is large and nice with good swiming with mild wave action. I took the "sunken ship & turtle" snorkle tour for $20. You get on a boat which sails about 400 yards away to view a sunken tug boat and some turtles which appear to be regularly fed to be enticed to stay in the area. It was worthwhile to see both if you like to snorkle but I would recommend just walking out fom the beach as the turtles are just off about 100 yards from the shore. The shipwreck is a bit further and you would need to be an accomplished swimmer to swim out and back to see the shipwreck.

“Hot beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

A lovely hot white beach.Slightly blinding on the eyes though. It shelves a little though as you go in the water so watch the children. Its right by the Hilton where you can get a nice lunch, not pricey. But your best bet is a fish cutter from the little van in the car park. The van may not look much but he does the best cutters on the island, and as you sit on the beach to eat you can watch the liners in the Bridgetown Port.
