I have gone to Barbados on 2 occasions and ready to go again in July. I don't even know where to begin!
The FOOD is SCRUMPTOUS! They LOVE chicken, and when you go you MUST go to Oistins, and try their Rotis! Their seafood is out of this world! The weather! Its always hot! I went in Dec, and forgot it was winter/Christmas, and again in Feb/March and it was the same. It's very comfortable. The people! The most friendliest, laid back, fun people I have ever met. I LOVE them. The hospitality is top notch and they go out of their way to accommodate you.
The nightlife! Sooo many places to dance, to hang out, there is an abundance of things to do so you never get bored.
The Shore Excursions - Too many to remember. Oistins, Harrisons' Cave, Island Safari, Atlantis Submarine, Time Out, Plantations...and there is still MORE that I will do when I do back this time...like their crop over/Kadooment.
The Accommodations are top notch also! Their #1 thing is tourism so everyplace goes out of their way to make you comfortable. So far I've stayed at Amaryllis Resort and the second time I did a home stay. This time I'm doing a combo of a home-stay and Guesthouse at the Bajan Flamingo. I will give separate reviews on each.
The beaches are beautiful but to my disbelief I was so busy with business I did not get a chance to enjoy the beach. I went once the first time (see photo) and their sand is fine...like soft brown sugar.
I know this is all crammed into one review, but in short this island needs to be seen. It's like it's Caribbean's best kept secret. I love it so much I want to buy a home there...I feel I have extended family. They will also hold a special place with me.
Barbados gets my vote on the best of the islands and I've been to Bahamas.

From KROSFYAH to Fishermans Pub (Hey Hollie!!) to Oistens to South Beach and the rest of the 166 sq.mi. Island....you CAN NOT go wrong! Although it may be a bit pricey (but then what isn't anymore) the people, the beaches, the pubs, the music and THE FOOD...AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A week never seems enough and two weeks makes us want even more. Please do yourself a favor before you take a trip anywhere else go to Barbados!!!

I found it to be very expensive there. The food store prices were outrageous. You cant really drive along the coast as the beaches are mostly hidden by building, trees, etc. The beaches I found to be small and not much beach before you hit the buildings. The weather was really nice, but I'd rather go back to Paradise Island if I'm going to spend that kind of money.

My husband and I traveled to Barbados last year and had an incredible time. Aside from the wonderful Caribbean attractions that many islands offer, Barbados' north shore was a rare treat. It was so different from the rest of the island that you'd never know you were in Barbados! The cliffs and raging waves were absolutely breath-taking. It is definitely worth renting a car (or a driver) and taking the short drive to this area. I'm attaching a few photos for your enjoyment.

Four members of my family went for a New Year holiday in Barbados. My older sister booked a cheap and presumably cheerful family home for us to stay in. The adverisement described the property as a beautiuful family home based in a local community within a rural setting. It also informed that some locals keep animals so you might occasionally hear them. The house was in Carters Gap, Christchurch and is the only property adverised on a UK based holidaylettings-Barbados site.
What the advert failed to say is that PIGS are kept next door to the property and that you will ultimately share the sounds and smells of them for the whole duration of your stay.
Horrendous!
There were other problems with this property that are too many and varied to list. The bottom line is the ownner is economical with the truth about your four legged holiday companions so nothing else that was untoward came as a surprise.
Great holiday if you really like piggies. We stayed for one of our fourteen nights then beat a hasty retreat.
Avoid at all costs ! Snort snort
