“Great place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

An old plantation house that still grows sugar and makes its own rum. Lovely house, with the downstairs available to view, with lots of historical interest. If you're lucky, Simon, the owner, will be around - very good company, and so welcoming. Rum tasting available, along with engraving service, to have your own keepsake message engraved on your bottle of rum.

“Beautiful and delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

On our last morning in Barbados we went to St. Nicholas Abbey. What a gorgeous setting and a fascinating history! We thoroughly enjoyed the video and the taste of rum! The house is well preserved and the rum is delicious! Simon was very informative and convinced us that we needed to buy a bottle - and we are so glad that we did!
We highly recommend St Nicholas Abbey if you want something quaint and delightful!

“An interesting look at plantation life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

This lovely old house is set in a tranquil plantation and is a must if visiting Barbados. The guides are charming and knowledgeable and Simon (on Rum) is a great character. Wander freely around the grounds and step back in time. History oozes from every brick in this place. Would have loved to see the bedrooms and kitchens as they might have been but these are closed off. Wonderful trees, herbs, plants. A great place to while a few hours away.

“St Nicholas Abbey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

Absolutely beautiful location and house.
Tour is operational, we decided to take our own route and time.
Don't miss the 1930's film of the plantation. It's a must.
Free rum punch included in the admission fee and there is a small gift shop and the opportunity to buy the rum produced on site.

You have the house, gardens, steam engine, distillery, various outbuildings and the walks through the gullies.
we hope to go back on our next visit to the island.
