“Always the best and a great Couples Golf Event too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2009

We just returned from the Fall Couples Golf Tournament sponsored by the Pompano Beach Club. We've been to Bermuda and the Pompano 14 times since 1999 and have attended the Fall Couples Tournament for the past 5 years. Over this time both the Pompano Beach Club and the Couples Tournament just keep getting better and better.

We love where the hotel is located, on a cliff overlooking a sand bar that turns the ocean magnificent variations of turquoise that you can see from your room and virtually the entire property. It has a lovely tiered private beach. It faces west providing incredible sunsets and is next to the newly renovated Port Royal Golf Course where the Grand Slam of Golf was played this year and where we played 2 rounds of the 4 day golf tournament.

One of the best things about the Pompano is that the management and staff, both on site and in their Wayland, MA office, truly care about their guests and their hotel. The staff provides just the right mix of professionalism, a feeling of being part of their family, and the extra effort to do everything they can to make your stay great. The hotel is continually being upgraded, adding amenities and refurbishing to keep it in great shape. In fact, I don’t believe there’s been a year where were haven’t seen improvements made. We like that it’s a smaller, more intimate hotel but with the amenities of a larger hotel. All the rooms we’ve stayed in have been lovely and the food is excellent. I’ve read some other reviews of the Pompano on TripAdvisor and have to say we absolutely know we stayed at the same hotel as most of the reviewers and I can’t believe we stayed at the same hotel as a few of the others.

Because we’re into golf, the Couples Tournament is a terrific event for us. It’s professionally run, with multiple formats on multiple courses. But it’s also become as much a social event as a golf tournament. We’ve met many new friends from all over the country and the UK and look forward to seeing them, as well as our Pompano friends, each year.

The worst thing about the Pompano and Bermuda is leaving, the best, is knowing we’ll be back.

To Larry, Tom, Velda, Mervyn and everyone else at the Pompano and to Alex at To a Tee Bermuda – thanks so much for making our vacation and the tournament so great.

We have stayed at Pompano twice and the second time was as good as the first with no complaints. The room we had was excellent, clean, and wonderfully located. The staff could not be better or more friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful and the menu diverse. Having managers on site also being owners is a definite plus and both Larry and Tom are receptive to suggestions. While the location is rather remote transportation is not a problem as we were shuttled (very promptly) to and from ferry and bus stops. We truly have no complaints and plan to stay here again and again.

From the ride along the beaches to the driveway through the beautiful Port Royal Golf Course to Pompano the sights are breathtaking. The Resort offers big time quality in food, atmosphere, and service in a quaint, cozy setting. Unlike other resorts one never feels like just a number. From the front desk staff who are helpful as can be to the wait staff and bartenders, thanks Mervyn, our stay was a joy. We had access to all parts of the island and the best sunset views imaginable. Thanks, Larry and Tom for sharing what may well become a little home away from home for some time to come. We had the dine around plan and never considered going elsewhere but folks from the Reefs loved Pompano's food better this week.

I'm reading through all these glowing reviews, and I can't believe these are people are real. We've been to Bermuda 15 times, and our stay at the Pompano was the worst. It's located far off the beaten path, and there is absolutely no beach to speak of. The common areas of the hotel are worn and shabby. The rooms are musty smelling and shabby as well. The service, while friendly, is not professional, and the management is not accommodating. This place is way to expensive for what you get, and that isn't much.

If you've been to Bermuda but not to Pompano you've missed the best part of the Island. We could not have been more pleased with this tranquil, clean, friendly bit of paradise. The view is breath taking. Meals were delicious and served by a friendly and attentive staff. We ate mainly in the upstairs dining area and found we didn't want to go anywhere else. Our days were spent at the beach which was very clean. I had read an earlier review and was concerned about the beach but we found no issues. We saw a wedding party at the Pompano one day and thought the setting was perfect for such an occasion. Can't wait to return for another visit next year.

The location, amenities, and staff are uniformly excellent. The rooms are adequate
if dated, and for the price, one would like to see linens/bedding upgraded.
The food in both restaurants is unbelievably good, and it is difficult to justify a trip off-site.
We are coming back same time next year - Friday afternoon to Monday morning was
$2400 - so it takes a bit to save for this trip.

We spent a relaxing 4 days on the beach at the resort. The weather was great and the water was warm. The beach is small but lovely. As mentioned in a previous review (which just may be by some very nice people we met on our trip) the back of the beach was litterd with debris. The seaweed should have been raked up each day. The hut/ bar looked like it might tip over. Some updating and cleaning up definately needed. Just face you beach chair out toward the beautiful blue/green water and the soft white/pink sand and you will be very happy. We were.
