“Perfect in many ways”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2009

Just got back Sunday the 15th from Bermuda. Had a wonderful stay. I had been to Bermuda 2 times in the past and stayed at the Southhampton Princess. Thought I would try a more "personal" touch resort. And I nailed this one perfectly. Upon arriving from the airport, the hotel...without even asking....had a driver for us standing awaiting our arrival. Nice touch! It is about a half hour drive thru town to this property. The location was wonderful, and the rooms at least most are right on or over the water in the cliff side. Nice to watch the sunset at the start of a nice evening. Property is very well maintained. Met the owner, Larry, a super jovial man, to whom welcomed us with smiles and open arms. Front desk was very pleasant, knew our names, as all the staff had throughout our stay. Rooms have ocean view, or at least the Dolphin room building. Super clean, king size bed, mini fridge, tv, 2 phones, nice closet and safe. Plenty of dresser space. Bathroom tiled nicely and the tub was huge. Full gigantic glass and tile shower, with great hot water pressure!! 4 patio doors overlooking a private balciony with 4 lounge chairs for your personal use. You can lay in bed and look directly at the azure water, very blissful view. resort has great food. I suggest the dine around, as we went to the Reefs and ate one night, but feel the food at Pompano was better, and the clients at Pompano were more our age (35-45), whereas the Reefs seemed to be over 60.We brought about 8 bottles of nice wine from home, and a bottle of Cristal. There is no corkage fee, but we would tip the waiter for decanting the wine etc..That was a nice gesture from the staff, but see where we were not the only ones asking to cork their own wine/champagne. The resort sports a big heated pool, and 3 heated jaccuzis. We hit the jaccuzi late one night, and even though it was in the low 60's it was more than hot enough for us. The staff was wonderful from Kevin, Ali, Nick,Mervin,Gabrielle, Lynn to name a few. Nothing was out of the way for them, they always took care of us. I suggest going into town and eating at Harrys. An upper class restaurant, with private rooms and a huge wine cellar. Sits right next to the harbor. Lunch for 4 was about $230, but well worth it. Would have liked to eat dinner there, but not enough time. Close to Harrys is a high end grocery store. From foie gras to Dom champagne and more. Very nice place. Played golf at Southhampton as the Port Royal was closed still. Golf at Southhampton course was 70 plus 30 club rental. Pretty good pricing for an island course. The ladies went to the spa at this hotel while we were golfing. Super nice spa.Never went to the spa at Pompano, but I am sure it was wonderful also. Very easy to get cabs to and from town. Cost to town to resort around $30. To and from airport was $60 to $70 one way. There are bus routes and ferries also. The front desk can show you the schedules and fares. All in all, I would come back in a minute. This resort makes you feel like family. It is small and very personal. If you want a big, convention like feel, go to the Fairmont Southhampton Princess. I prefer to be treated like family, and Pompano does that and more

We stayed at the Pompano Beach Resort in October 2006 for 10 days for our honeymoon. It was the best honeymoon we could imagine.

The staff is helpful, friendly, courteous, and always willing to go out of their way to make the stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

We stayed in a deluxe room, overlooking the ocean. The accommodations were top-notch, recently appointed, and well decorated. The ambiance was very romantic, and did not suffer at all from the sometimes garish style that even very nice Caribbean resorts occasionally decorate with. Not the Pompano. Elegant, tasteful, warm, romantic, and comfortable. The sunsets overlooking the ocean were breathtaking, too.

The dining was outstanding. The chef varies the menu well, and the food is clearly fresh, creative, and completely delicious. The drinks are also new and interesting. When we visited, they had a Bermuda Rum Swizzle night on Mondays. It's a fun way to meet fellow guests.

The general facilities are well kept, recently renovated, beautiful, and charming The pool and hot tub were glamourous and well kept. The water sports facility down on the water was well stocked with all the gear you want, and they even kept it open a few extra days at our request. It's true, the beach is not long, but you won't care. Being able to walk out many hundreds of feet on soft Bermuda sand on their sand bar, out to the float to watch the sunset will beat any long walk.

From every vantage point, it was a perfect honeymoon, and that entirely because of where we stayed.

The weather was excellent in October. We were worried about temperature, but it was wonderful. Water temperature was great, and Bermuda has some truly dramatic diving and snorkeling.

At the Pompano there was a Catamaran trip to sail and have lunch. Don't ask questions, just do it. The captain actually dove and pulled out some lobster, cooked them, and made us a gourmet lunch. Snorkeling was awesome with the trip. Just do it!

It's not cheap, but it is worth it. If you are planning a tropical honeymoon, Bermuda and the Pompano are the place to go. You'll love it

only one can be the best of Bermuda, Pompano is it!
We spent our 25th wedding anniversary here. I truly cant say enough. The staff was attentive but not hovering, so knowledgeable and personable, There is afternoon tea, private beach lounge areas and the ocean sunsets are spectacular. Please do the meal plan you cant find better food on the island. It is delicous, varied and satisfying but not overwhelming that you can't fit in the occasional exquisite dessert. Interesting of note, we had lunch with some locals on the veranda, its that good. Enjoy this experience until you come back again, as we plan to !

Several years ago we were playing golf on the 8th hole at Port Royal Golf course and the Pompano Beach Club property was next to the course. We had lunch at Pompano and the Asst. Manager gave us a tour of the property. We have stayed at several of the large Bermuda hotels (Fairmont Princess, Castle Harbour) in the past, and they were too similar to the large U.S. commercial hotel chains that I stay at on my frequent business trips. We liked what we saw at Pompano, booked for the next year, and we've been returning to Pompano for more than 15 years. The friendly staff, the manageable size of the property, the beautiful ocean views and sunsets, the attractive rooms, and the proximity to Port Royal bring us back.
Last year Port Royal was being renovated so views of the course from the room patios were not attractive, however the course is re-opening this spring and will be a first-class course.
Two lovely dining rooms. Food is good, don't miss the fabulous deserts on buffet night. The Dine Around option is available with other hotels and that's a nice option for one night.
Entertainment provided nightly is low key, that's what most guests seem to prefer. Vernon always draws a crowd.
The Pompano beach is small, however not crowded. For those who want a larger beach, Horseshoe Bay is only a short bus ride away. At Pompano, boats are available and fun, and there's a complete spa and a large fully equipped gym.
The friendly and responsive staff make your stay very special. It's a tribute to the owners, the Lamb family, that there's very little staff turover so each year we're welcomed back by the same attentive and warm people. Staff at the front desk are glad to help plan your excusions and assist you in any way.
Before we leave we reserve our favorite room for the next year.
For rest and relaxation in a beautiful venue, Pompano is the best!

My family has been going to Bermuda for almost five years now and while they have stayed at the Pompano before it was my first time this summer. Truthfully there is nothing bad to say about my vacation there. The staff is amazing- not only do they try their very hardest to cater to your every request but they do it with a smile and very individualized service (i.e. at lunch I always ordered the same fish sandwich and the wait staff remembered). The owners also do their best to socialize with every guest to make sure that everyone is having the best vacation they possibly can. While I went to BDA expecting a boring vacation with no "nightlife" I was quickly surprised at not only the nightlife for myself at Pompano but also for my parents, uncles, aunts, and grandparents. Every night there is a different type of entertainment near the small bar from piano players to jazz bands and a rum swizzle night which allows all the guests to chat and enjoy themselves in a relaxed environment. The views from the hotel are also nothing short of amazing and the rooms are more than ample. Be warned that there are a lot of steep steps and for individuals who are disabled or are older this may hinder the opportunity to really enjoy Pompano. Still, I cannot wait to go back and I cannot wait to have another rum swizzle compliments of the best bartenders at Pompano, Mervin and Velda.

  • Liked — The "family" atmosphere, entertainment & BEAUTIFUL beach

We have been coming to Pompano for many years and love Thanksgiving most of all. The folks at Pompano make the Thanksgiving holiday so very special. All of the folks go out of their way making sure we enjoy the holiday. The food, as always, is incredible. It is especially nice having 2 restaurants to choose from. I highly recommend this resort for vacation years round but if you are looking for a special treat at the holidays you will find no better. The service and staff friendliness is top notch. The views are spectacular, especially the most vibrant sunsets that you will ever see!

We just returned from 3 nights at the Pompano Beach Club. We have been to Bermuda 9 times, but this was the first time we stayed at the Pompano. We have stayed other places but never felt comfortable. The staff was wonderful to us. Everything we asked for was answered with a smile and taken care of. The property is absolutely stunning. The accomodations, meals and staff were first class. I am extremely happy to know that we will not have to look for another place to stay. We found our home when we are in Bermuda.
