First a little history - My wife and I stayed at the Pompano Beach Club 15 years ago and had a wonderful and memorable experience, the staff was extremely courteous, friendly and made you feel like family. So we decided to return for a short 3 day vacation this August (08) and took along our oldest daughter. To our delight we found that not much has changed…with the exception of a new restaurant and bar area with the most incredible sunset views, the level of service provided by staff, and the quality, variety and presentation of meals at dinner (we selected the MAP Plan) made our stay even more enjoyable.

In fact, our first stay was so memorable that when we returned we found many of the same employees still work at the property. Everyone goes out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable and worry free. The Pompano Beach club is very family friendly, and has what I believe to be one of the nicest private beaches in Bermuda. Great swimming for the kids as it is protected and there is no surf. At low tide you can walk about 300 yards to what is some of the best snorkeling on the island.

A courtesy car is available to take you to and from the ferry dock for day excursions into Hamilton or the Dockyards and tickets for the ferry can be purchased at the front desk at a discount. The lobby offers wireless internet access for those of you that feel compelled to work or stay in touch with the office, or simply use the laptops and desktop available in the main lobby to access your emails.

We will not be waiting another 15 years to get back to the Pompano Beach Club, great staff, great food and drink (try a dark and stormy), owners that actually come out and speak with you…a home away from home

A friendly relaxing hotel, with execptional service, good food, nice rooms. Kudos to George in the dining who recognizing my wifes affinity for a particular healthy food item made sure that it was always available. Just a pleasant, romantic spot where everyone is friendly and accomodating. We had room with a beautiful view that was large and comfortable. I will be back.

Just back from Pompano Beach and had a really great time, although we had to adjust to the slightly quirky aspects of this Hotel.

So what was great? Well the staff are as friendly and helpful as other reviews have suggested, the owners are very much in evidence and there are some real characters like Mervyn the Bar Manager that brighten your day.

Our room was good, quiet, well located and recently decorated with great views over the sea. The beach was lovely, never crowded and the swimming fantastic.

So what was quirky? Two things stood out which would make me hesitate before returning. The first was Dining. The restaurants are functional rather than elegant, the menus are almost too overcomplicated (try getting a simple fish dish!) and you are pretty packed in, so no hope of that romantic dinner for two with your Partner. There is also very little out door dining which is a pity given the setting. During the day the beach and pool bars are open and you can get good value food, but even seated at the tables you have to drink from plastic glasses, a real pity as the bar is not open during the day so there is no way to enjoy a really nice glass or two of wine.

The second is that this is a real family destnation, people seem to come in large groups, reunions, celebrations et al, which creates a very friendly atmosphere but at the expense of an over powering noise level which is impossible to escape in any of the public areas. Again, not much good for the more romantically inclined.

So, if you are looking for a quite intimate break this is probably not for you, if you want somewhere safe, friendly and comfortable to take the family I would say the Pompano Beach should be right up there on your shortlist.

We've stayed at Pompano several times in the past 10 plus years and we know just what to expect at the hotel....excellent service, friendly employees everywhere, fantastic food, to die for rooms with a view, and a lot of memories to go home with. We are reviewing this time BEFORE we even go, because we are so impressed with the service already! Your vacation begins with the friendly and very helpful reservationist when making that first inquiry. Their 800 number brings you to knowledgable employees who have all been to the property, they know which rooms are available, they have info on dining, water activities, they even know if particular waiters will be on property during our stay. They will set up a taxi for you upon arrival in Bermuda to take you to Pompano. (All taxi rates are set so you never feel "taken".) Moving on to our expected arrival... We go to Pompano for the feeling of true welcome. Unlike a huge lobby with many check in lines, Pompano greets you like friends, whether it's your first visit, or 10th. Our bags will be taken to our rooms for us, we will have a fantastic first lunch on the beautiful decks, rum drinks in hand, ahhh..... let the vacation begin.
