“Would Definitely Recommend...Families, Teenagers, Anyone!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Someone was definitely watching over us! We were supposed to be in another hotel that ended up being overbooked. Instead, Expedia helped in getting us set up at the Pompano. From the moment you walk in, to the time we left, service was excellent. When first arriving, we received a tour from one of the owners of all of the amenities. The hotel uses college interns seeking careers in hospitality and what better place to learn! Our daughter turned 18 and made friends with the interns and felt extremely safe when going out at night. The food...you need to lose weight before coming here. The meal plan was awesome. We wasted money one night going to one of the three best restaurants in Bermuda and were extremely disappointed.

Note that families have been returning here for years and we now know why. We even booked our reservation for next year.

You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Go with the 30s or 40s buildings. Also Room 8 is the premier room! And 50 has one of the best view...

This was our second vacation at Pompano, it was everything we remembered and more. The owners are on site and directly involved in the daily operation. The buildings are situated so the views from all rooms are breathtaking. The immaculate rooms have daily service including nightly turndown complete with chocolates on the pillow. The food is great, the service across the board first rate. The pool area is complete with bar and lunch service. The beach is spectacular, tiki bar, chairs, towels and umbrellas all available. There is a great reef within walking/swimming distance at low tide for snorkeling. My sons, now 20 and 23, rented kayaks and paddleboards. I can't wait to go back, thanks Pompano!

We stayed at the Pampano for the first time from June 25th (our 25th anniversary) to June 30th. The hotel was small and this is what we wanted. The small beach was never too crowded and always had a number of empty chairs and umbrellas to use. The pool was also small. Although we did not use the pool (the beach was just too lovely) we did notice there were always plenty of chairs available. It never looked crowded. The owners said the hotel was full to capacity so we assume that small is not an issue, in other words small does not mean crowded. We did notice more people and larger groups arriving toward the end of our stay around the 29th and 30th of June. We never had to wait for a table at breakfast or dinner and the food was plentiful and delicious. We enjoyed the company of the staff and all those with whom we interacted were pleasant and informative. We especially enjoyed the company of Velda,Gabriella and Nick who went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves (Really everyone there did.) The owners were always present and helpful with information about the island. It was our first real vacation without children in 16 years and it was just what we wanted. Low overhead, relaxing and everything we needed. If you are looking for big or glamorous this is not the place for you. There is no kids club or arcade. But if you want to relax eat some good food and soak in some of the most beautiful scenery on earth GO FOR IT! Oh yeah and for an island the food and drink prices really are reasonable. Not more than you would expect to pay in the states. We respected this and noticed when we ventured off the resort, prices for these things were much higher at other places on the island. WE WILL BE BACK.

Room Tip: We were in deluxe room. It was lovely and private. Other rooms had stairs to climb. Which could be...

I must agree with Mark Twain's sentiments about Bermuda - it is 'the biggest small place in the world' and his eulogy that 'You die and go to heaven, I'd rather stay in Bermuda'. The Pompano is the icing on the cake; the location is breathtaking with its own sandy beach and the enticing blue (of many shades) sea, the spacious rooms with every comfort and fabulous views, the outstanding food, the incredibly good service and the friendly, accommodating and efficient management and staff (nothing is too much trouble for them to do and yet they have time to talk to you!). Having travelled quite extensively, I believe that the Pompano is the ideal place for a holiday; I just wish that Bermuda was closer to the UK.

Room Tip: They all have sea views and are superb. If you have knee trouble (like me), the deluxe rooms are nea...

We went to Pompano for a mother daughter weekend back in May. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. The interns were very kind and accommodating. TJ who worked at the beach bar on the first day we arrived was incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you so much to the whole staff! We will definitely be returning again soon.

We traveled for a reunion of an extended family of 11 people, from age 10-mid-70’s. Pompano was perfect for all of us. The views are stunning, the staff friendly and accommodating, and there is something for everyone to do. The pool and ocean are both wonderful for swimming. The snorkeling is good on a calm day. On some days there is an ocean current though, so be aware. It was a treat to get fishing rods and bait after dinner to catch fish off the boat dock. The boats they rent are fun to use. The staff was very helpful when helping us plan trips out of the resort, including selling us bus passes and taking us to the bus stop. We all enjoyed the delicious food in both restaurants and the meal plan was definitely the way to go. I particularly enjoyed the scallops with lobster risotto. The kids enjoyed being served first, so they could go to the game room while the adults enjoyed a more leisurely meal. The beds are comfortable, and the balcony was great for the view, and drying out wet bathing suits. Our rooms could have used some updating, but Tom Lamb said they are next on the list. My only suggestion would be to have self-serve water available…it is hot and although I could always ask for water, it would have been nice to just have it freely available in the lobby and by the pool. This is a wonderful resort for a family reunion.

For one of us it was our third trip to Bermuda, but for all of us, it was our first trip to this resort. The property itself id in a spectacular location, overlooking a huge stretch of private, sandy beach. For young families this is ideal, because during low tide it is possible to walk quite a way out in the water. There are no strong currents, the water is crystal clear, and it is not uncommon to see large parrot fish or schools of smaller fish swimming feet from the shore. We also spotted a turtle from our balcony. There is some basic snorkeling on the reefs right off the hotel, too. Our first few days were spectacular and peaceful, but then an onslaught of 4th of July celebrators arrived. Many were brash, loud and just plain rude. The noise level escalated ten-fold, there was a lot more smoke around the pool area, and for some reason, these people thought it quite fine to scream at one another across the pool, the beach, the restaurants, or even across us. It was quite a shock :P One of the craziest things we saw was one of them grabbing a pitchfork off the beach, commonly used to clean up seaweed, and attempt to "catch" a parrot fish swimming close to shore. It took quite an argument to get this moron to stop. For us, it completely changed the experience, as restaurants were crowded and loud, the hobie cat was hard to score time on, etc. The owners said this was one of the busiest weeks of the year, and we can understand that, but to me, the mark of a truly incredible resort is the one which can handle these fluctuations without annoying people. Grace under pressure is what gets 5 stars from me. The other thing that really coloured the experience for us was that this resort is very American...and nothing at all against our southern neighbours, but we felt like outsiders. Mondays are supposed to be a BBQ night, and this was cancelled during our stay because there were huge 4th of July plans and lobster were being flown in from Maine. Terrific.....except July 1st was Canada Day, our equivalent of July 4th, and I asked the owners if it would at least be possible for us to get a table reserved outside in the restaurant where reservations are not normally accepted, so that we would not have to wait and could feel a BIT special, and even this small request was not possible for them, let alone a bottle of wine on the table, or something to acknowledge that all guests are equally important. So while the resort was beautiful, and most things met our expectations, our experience ended up being not-so-hot from the third day on. If you're an American and want to visit for the fast flight, you'll love it. If you're from somewhere else, I am not so sure. Mixed feelings is the only way to describe it!
