For some reason my review from a few years ago is gone, but I've stayed at the Mazarine 8 times over the years and have gotten to know the owners the Dismonts during my many stays. They are a lovely group of people who will help you out however they can. The resort is RIGHT on the ocean with your own private reef to snorkel. Mike and his nephew are professional dive masters and can arrange for you to SCUBA there too if you wish. The property has a little pool which is perfect to loung in with your rum swizzle and watch the sunset over the dockyard in the distance.

I would highly recommend renting a scooter though as it's a bit of a hike into town. Hamilton is only 5 minutes over the hill on the bike though with a world of wonderfull dining and shoping options right there. Another one of my favorite things to do there is to pick up some fresh fish and grill it on the outside BBQ on the patio.

The units themselves are small and clean and have the basics of an effeciacy (stove, microwave, fridge, tv), Cleaning service is provided by a lovely woman named Dalia Monday-Saturday. It's a great place to spend a week and recharge yourself and an incredible value compared to the South Shore resorts.

“I Loved This Place!!!!”

We first heard about Mazarine on this website and took a look at the review and decided to give it a go. We contacted the owner and he gave us how much it actually cost to stay there which was not much more than it is listed here (compared to the hotels in Bermuda, this was a steal!)

When we arrived at Mazarine (My husband, daughter and I) the owner was very warm and welcoming. The apartment turned out bigger than I expected. It had a very nice kitchen as well.

The view is EXACTLY as in the pictures posted here! The owner was very friendly and told us a lot about the island and its history as well as where to go and not get caught in the tourist traps.

There is a grocery store next door for your cooking essentials (came in VERY handy). Just remember they close at six sometimes five, so plan ahead. They even have beer, wine, and liquor.

Rent a scooter. It is great to view the island. This was also another advice given to us by the owner of Mazarine.

Overall it was fantastic for us. If you don't mind staying away from the hub of things (which is really by scooter 5 mins away) this is the place to be. If you want peace and quiet, this is the place to be. If anything broke (like the air conditioning) it was fixed within the hour. We were really impressed staying here.

We were the only ones there for the first few days and we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. I absolutely recommend staying there.

My husband and I have just come back from a stay at Mazarine by the Sea and we loved it. The owner is warm and welcoming, the view from the cottage is fabulous and it's right by a convenience store which in Bermuda can be crucial. When I go back to Bermuda, I know where I'm staying!

Had a wonderful time, and would definitely stay there again. This place only has 7 rooms. We stayed in the little separate cottage which was very private. The property dates back to the 1860's so I 'm sure there cottage was once a servant's quarters and the main house has been broken up to 6 separate rooms. There is a cleaning lady, who has worked there for 20 years, who comes everyday and changes your towels and makes your bed. It is a $22-25 cab ride from airport. The pool is small but we were the only ones in it and hangs over a cliff. You are able to walk down to the sea below but only swim in the morning when the sea is not rough and if you are proficient. I didn't see many bugs but there are a few geckos creeping around and you will hear tree frogs chirping at night. There is a small convenience store 3 houses down, but no restaurants. If you need full amenities (restaurant, beach, kids club, golf etc.), don't stay there. We were a couple in our 30's and were happy to explore the island on our own by bus/taxi/moped.I would highly recommend this place but NOT if you have small children due to its cliff location. Prices are extremely fair (about $150-$200 a night) compared to other Bermuda accomadations ($350-$550). Pictures attached!

Where can you find a quiet retreat with an outstanding ocean view AND affordability? With on-site snorkelling, ocean-front pool, and outstanding views, Mazarine by the Sea is the perfect place for budget-conscious travellers, young and old alike. SCUBA instruction is also available on-site from a local certified instructor, and you won't have to go far for beautiful reefs. Mazarine Bay offers outstanding coral views, as well as a limestone cave for exploration.

My friend and I have been coming to this guesthouse since 1997, and we've enjoyed every stay. We keep coming back because of the central location and excellent facilities.
