“Best value I could find in Bermuda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We stayed at the Coco Reef last fall. We got a web special for around $225 a night, which is cheap for Bermuda. I researched the place pretty thoroughly before going there, reading dozens of TripAdvisor reviews, mostly good but with a few complainers. After three nights there I found nothing to complain about unless you were really fussy. The location was great; if you took off running from my room you could be in the sea within a minute. Some rooms are closer to the beach than others but pretty much all of them face the water with a good view. The furnishings in my room weren't really new but they were all clean and in good repair. There's a slight dampness in the air but that is unavoidable that close to the beach. I didn't see any of the ant or bug problems that a few reviewers mentioned. The service was pretty good and the maids were especially friendly. We had a 1-year-old baby with us and everything was convenient for strollers and other baby needs. The beach there is awesome although you do have to be careful about a few rocks out in the water here and there. There's a pretty good grocery store (for Bermuda) a short walk away and buses are easy to catch. I'd like to have seen more in-house eating choices; the hours and menu were fairly limited and we ended up eating at the hotel only once or twice. It was easy to eat at the beachfront at the hotel next door but it was super expensive. There is a locally run restaurant about a mile or so away that we ate at a lot for breakfast and lunch but they don't have any alcoholic drinks. The Swizzle Inn is a bit farther, a little too far to walk conveniently, but was great for drinks and socializing and the food was also good. All in all, I was quite satisfied with our Coco Reef experience and will probably stay there again the next time we go to Bermuda (if I don't do a timeshare exchange instead).

Room Tip: They are all decent. The ones in the building closest to the sea have a much better view (obviously...

All rooms have a beautiful ocean view but ours was on the first floor with sliding doors out to a beautiful lawn. We were only a few steps from the ocean where we snorkeled every day. The room was great, the service was wonderful but the location was the best! A hidden treasure with no crowds anywhere. Not even the pool! So relaxing, so friendly and we so want to go back!!!

Room Tip: I don't think there are any bad rooms. I loved the 100 building, ocean front, ground floor as w...

Stay at this hotel and the Fairmont in Hamilton on the same trip. This was our favorite. We had a first floor room that open without obstruction directly to the beach - maybe 50 steps and your in the water! Plastic patio seats/table provided a wonderful place to enjoy morning coffee and watch the sun rise - Priceless. The beach is small but will do. Much of the property was aged a bit and showed some signsof it outside, but room was all functional, well kept. The location is tucked away off the road, so the only sound was the ocean. Think we only eat one meal at the holte and it, as with most things in Bermuda, pricey. But food and service was good. There was a couple of close, more reasonable priced resturants and store near by. If you want to be in the heart of city action, then skip this location. If you want quiet, and uncluttered views to die for, book here. If we return, we will stay again!

Room Tip: Ask for beach front. If you want to sleep to the sound of waves, might want to ask for second floor...

so...I docked in Bermuda the last week of July from the cruise port...After searching the internet, I found that this resort offers a day pass with lunch. After a 30 min cab ride (by the way the bus is roughly the same ride) we arrived at the coco reef. The lobby was very pretty and the staff friendly. After paying a fee (included lunch with wine) the gave us a towel. A short walk through the pool area to the most beautiful beach below ...including chairs and umbrellas! Very private ...and very beautiful.....we even contemplated staying overnight and returning to the ship the next day! I will return again...but for a few days instead of a few hours!

Yes if: You want to be directly on a great beach. You want clean, pleasant, "low" cost lodging. You want a smaller setting where you actually get to know some of the staff. You enjoy the chance to walk, use the bus, use the taxis, ferrys and ride share with other guests. You want to eat out around the island, with an occasional meal at your home hotel. You want quick access to the city of Hamilton. You want to mix with an international clientel.

No if: You want to impress your friends with the fancy place you stayed. You want to be anonymous in a big faceless resort. You want to eat at a different on site restaurant each meal. You don't really care about the beach, but are coming for the fancy ambiance of Bermuda. You are used to only the finest, and do not go on vacation to have anything less.

We loved this place. It's a great home base for an adventure in Bermuda.

Stayed at Coco Reef Resort this past July with my husband and was very pleased with it. The staff was warm and friendly and very helpful. No matter what our question was, they where always ready and willing to help. The grounds are well kept and clean and our room was spotless. The housekeeping staff did a great job and always greeted you with a smile. The food was amazing! A little pricey but well worth it. Sitting out on the terrace with the sun going down was magical. This was our second trip to Bermuda, the first time we were young and enjoyed the night life but this time we wanted a quiet, calm and peaceful place and Coco Reef is exactly that. The beach is steps away and the views are spectacular.....heaven on earth! All it needs is a little updating and it would be a perfect!
