I happened upon Salt Kettle a few years ago. I had been looking for a small, charming place to stay while in Bermuda and was intriqued with the descriptions of Salt Kettle. The biggest thing that impressed me was the fact that there is an over 90% return rate and you better make your reservation for next year THIS year!
I wasn't disappointed in the least. I was greeted at the airport by Mr. Harris, and whisked away at a snails pace to Salt Kettle. Once you are in Bermuda, you will be forced to relax and slow down. Hazel greeted me with orange juice and her trusty maps. I received the low down on must and must not's and then I was ready for adventure.
I felt like I was staying at my sister's home or something. Everyone, from Betty, Madree, Anita, Margie to Hazel made me feel right at home. The rooms in the main house are small, and I definitely prefet the "tower". it is the only thing on the second floor...with it's own balcony overlooking the water. You have use of the guest kitchen, barbeque, and refrigerator. You can even get a lift to the local grocery store if you need one.
The sitting room is a gathering spot for cocktails and conversation, so you can join in if you wish. There is a wealth of information on the tables and a vast array of books to occupy your time. The ferry is 5 minutes away and very convenient to Hamilton....which is directly across the harbor and a breathtaking view, especially at night.
I went to Salt Kettle once, expecting to keep trying other little places in Bermuda until I found the perfect place. I didn't have to look any further.....and yes, I booked my next year's trip while I was there! I STRONGLY suggest it!
