I have just returned from a wonderful expereince at the Salt Kettle House bed and breakfast. The owner, Hazel Lowe, is a wonderful, gracious hostess that takes very good care of her guests. She's a "love". I felt like I were visiting a family relative who provided great input on the sights to see and how to use the public transportation. She provides you with a map, places to eat along with contact people who will provide you with the best hospitality. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was friendly, happy, and polite everywhere we went in Bermuda. Breakfast was not only delicious but a great start to your day from the fruit, juices, fresh, hot muffins (chocolate ones were by far my favorite) to your bountiful choices of eggs- any style, bacon - outragiously good, and the best French toast ever!!! I personally asked for tea (coffee was always ready for guests) and after the first day I didn't have to ask - a large pot was automatically brought to me. From the ladies in the kitchen, the servers and the cordial guests that we met and talked with each morning, your day begins as upbeat. It was a time of coming together and sharing tips, experiences, laughs, personal backgrounds and the morning "hello" from Hazel, who would remind you of any special daily activity important to see that day and best directions. Salt Kettle was truly a "home away from home". My traveling companion and I were lucky enough to stay in a cottage so we had a small kitchen which allowed us to just kick back a couple of nights and use some dinner items from the market and not have to travel off to Hamilton for dinner. Hazel does provide grills if your prefer to barbeque and plenty of outdoor furniture and space to sit out and enjoy the sunset eating, visiting or drinking - or all of the above!! Something that I noticed as others left before us and then as we were leaving was that Hazel, though only our first time visit with her, looked sad and kinda teared up.....as if old friends were parting. I would certainly revisit Salt Kettle, recommend it highly, and look forward to seeing Hazel sometime soon and being picked up by Mr Harris at the airport!!
