This hotel is fine but not at ~$500/night. The rooms are incredibly tired and the restaurant selection is limited (though pricey) relative to other similarly priced options. We stayed the first two nights of our trip to Bermuda here but ultimately opted to move to the Fairmount down the road and found significantly nicer rooms, dining options and service levels. The room was a nice size at Elbow Beach but poorly laid out and, as i've read now in other reviews, the bathroom was tiny. Had we paid $200/night i would have considered the accommodations appropriate. The most notable feature about this place is the location on a great beach and it is conveniently located to other great beaches for exploring (jobson's, etc). In addition to the very tired rooms we found the service quality to be generally very low - the waitstaff didn't seem to care if they sat you next to the window with a great view or a poorly located table in the back next to the kitchen. Most luxury hotels have a considerably higher service level. For example, the tennis courts were repeatedly booked but found that tennis camps (not hotel related) or tennis staff seemed to dominate the prime early evening hours. I think the mandarin oriental is asleep if they truly are managing this place - you will note that their monograms were conspicuously missing. If you're considering a place with or without kids just pass this place and go down the road to the fairmount. Unbelievably, it is cheaper when you consider their (superior) breakfast was thrown in for our rate.
