This hotel is fine but not at ~$500/night. The rooms are incredibly tired and the restaurant selection is limited (though pricey) relative to other similarly priced options. We stayed the first two nights of our trip to Bermuda here but ultimately opted to move to the Fairmount down the road and found significantly nicer rooms, dining options and service levels. The room was a nice size at Elbow Beach but poorly laid out and, as i've read now in other reviews, the bathroom was tiny. Had we paid $200/night i would have considered the accommodations appropriate. The most notable feature about this place is the location on a great beach and it is conveniently located to other great beaches for exploring (jobson's, etc). In addition to the very tired rooms we found the service quality to be generally very low - the waitstaff didn't seem to care if they sat you next to the window with a great view or a poorly located table in the back next to the kitchen. Most luxury hotels have a considerably higher service level. For example, the tennis courts were repeatedly booked but found that tennis camps (not hotel related) or tennis staff seemed to dominate the prime early evening hours. I think the mandarin oriental is asleep if they truly are managing this place - you will note that their monograms were conspicuously missing. If you're considering a place with or without kids just pass this place and go down the road to the fairmount. Unbelievably, it is cheaper when you consider their (superior) breakfast was thrown in for our rate.

Stayed at Elbow Beach for 4 nites at the end of June. We stayed in main building as we are traveling with a child and it is easier to be close to restaurants, pool, etc.

Garden View room reminded me of a standard Holiday Inn room in the US. Elbow Beach bills itself as a luxury resort, but there was nothing luxurious about this room. The bathroom was so small my daughter & I could not be in there at the same time. Room was clean but furnishings are so dated, the door fell off our refrigerator. And all for $475 a nite. Thankfully we had the $400 credit they are offering for the 400th anniversary special, but this room would be under $200 in the US. Most of the guests we chatted with were also complaining about the same things.

Pool was dirty and filled with debris after rain and it took a full day before it was cleaned. The only breakfast offered is at the Seahorse Grill and you are pressured to order the $28pp + gratuity buffet. Walk down the road to the Paraquet restaurant and you will find a very reasonable diner style restaurant. Don't even think of ordering lunch at the beach unless you are prepared to pay close to $40pp.

The only positives I can report is that most of the staff tries hard to help you and be nice, they give you free bottled water with turndown service every night, and the beach is beautiful with plenty of sand toys for the kids to borrow.

Overall a very poor value for the money we spent.

we were upgraded on arrival to a refurbished suite with ocean view with bedroom, lounge, bathroom, guest cloakroom and large private terrace we ate at the hotel most nights down by the beach the asian fusion food was great and not overly expensive. We opted for the pool rather than the beach and it was never a problem to get sunbeds. I would highly recommend hiring a scooter turn left out of the hotel and see some of the most amazing beaches in the world.
Well done to all the staff who were courteous and helpful at all times

Went to go to Bermuda and requested two adjoining rooms. I had a confirmation for that in writing. I made reservations directly with the hotel and asked over the phone multiple times that I was getting ocean view where rooms were right on the ocean. I also responded back to the confirmation in writing that I needed twin beds in one of the rooms for two kids or ability to add a cot for the two kids. The web site said our room class had twin beds and king beds. I get there and rooms were in a separate BUILDING (with kids!) and the front desk guy tried to tell me I did not request adjoining and I pulled out my confirmation. The ocean view was also a joke. You saw a sliver of it through the trees and were three buildings back from the beach. I have been to Bermuda many times over 30 years and never had an experience like this. Also initial check in was supposed to be at 3:00. One room was available at 4:00, other at 6ish. After much discussion with front desk they could only move us to adjoining rooms after the first night so we had to move rooms. We were then told to check out of a room at 11:00 and we would not be in new room until 4:00 - check in time. For $600 a night plus all the taxes they did not even have us in a room for hours. When we asked to send a cot down we were told they could not have them - a fire hazard. So when I requested something via e-mail no one said a word that they could not deliver until I was stuck in the hotel. We did not get twin beds in the second room either as requested. Service at resturaunts was pretty bad. One night one meal arrived after rest of table was finished eating dinner. At another meal an item was delivered with clearly curdled/bad milk in it. DON'T GO TO ELBOW BEACH. I hotel flat out lied about what they had available and what I was getting. I guess that is why when I booked a last minute trip that they were the only ones who had rooms. They offered me NOTHING for the room problem. I love the island but if I had never been anywhere else this would have turned me off so badly that I would never have gone back.

We just returned from a stay at Elbow Beach Resort. I must admit that we were afraid of staying here based on the reviews we read on Tripadvisor.

ROOM
We had a deluxe ocean view room in the Main Hotel. The room was just fine, it is not equivalent to the Ritz Carlton, but it is far from Motel 6 quality. The hotel just celebrated its 101st anniversary, so keep that in mind. Bermuda is a very quaint island and Elbow Beach as well as a lot of the boutique style hotels seems to accentuate this quality. The room was clean, had fresh linens, and a spacious balcony with a gorgeous view. You could actually hear the ocean when the sliding doors were left open. Housekeeping and a turn down service came twice a day and we were always given extra towels and amenities. The bathroom amenities were great as well. There were no bugs and no signs of mold. The air conditioning worked just fine as well and there was not an issue with the water in the shower in terms of temperature or pressure.

RESORT
Now that you feel at ease about the rooms- know that the beach, pool, restaurants, and service were all wonderful as well. There were always chairs available at the pool and the beach. There was full service at both in terms of drinks and food. The staff at both were very accommodating and kind. There is a Happy Hour served poolside from 4-6 in which drinks are half price!!! The grounds are beautiful, but expansive. The walk to the beach is downhill, so it is trek back up the hill. We were fine, but we could see that it could be tiring- therefore we suggest the shuttle service.

RESTAURANTS
All of the restaurants were wonderful- in terms of service and quality. Just know that Mickey's, Seabreeze and Lido are privately owned therefore you can not order room service from them. Also, the Sea Horse is open for breakfast- in either a buffet or a la cart format. It might work to your advantage to order a la cart. This is just a suggestion as I am not a huge breakfast person. Also, we highly recommend the Malibu Creme Brulee from the Veranda Bar- HEAVEN!!!

SERVICE
The concierge was so insightful giving us many suggestions to meet our desires in terms of sight seeing, getting around the island and restaurants outside of the hotel. We suggest going to Warwick Long Bay and walking to Horseshoe Bay while stopping at all the different beaches in between. There is a pathway that connects all of the beaches.

OVERALL
We had an awesome time in Bermuda as it is a beautiful island. We especially enjoyed our stay at Elbow Beach resort as everyone was so kind and welcoming. We truly believe that your vacation is what you make it- if you have time to thoroughly inspect the room for every possible flaw... you are spending way too much time in the room! If you are unhappy with anything at Elbow Beach Resort kindly bring your concerns to the front desk and I am sure you will be accommodated.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone as the grounds, service, staff, and beach are all wonderful!!
