“Five relaxing nights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

This mostly contemporary hotel is in a lovely location, directly on Hamilton Harbor, across from down town Hamilton. Our views were beautiful. Boats coming and going, sailing lessons for local children, the various ferries, occasional cargo ships and the small islands just outside the harbor. The white roofs of the Bermudian homes are charming. The hotel has a lovely infinity pool and attractive pool area with a large outdoor bar where we could also order food. The staff is extremely friendly and eager to help with any requests. The hotel's complimentary ferry shuttles guests to and from Hamilton. Our suite was huge and immaculate. Newstead's affiliate, Belmont Hills has a golf course and an AMAZING restaurant called Blu, where my husband and I had two of the most memorable meals of our lives. Again there were wonderful views, and that, accompanied by the outstanding food, varied menu and friendly, efficient waitstaff resulted in truly beautiful evenings. My husband and I agreed that at the end of our 5 nights, we felt as if we'd enjoyed a much longer vacation. We were refreshed. Susie W.

Just returned from our stay at this wonderful hotel. From our free airport transfer to having our room ready when we arrived on a early flight. The hotel staff were very helpful and nice. The location is perfect and the free water taxi to Hamilton is a great feature. From Hamilton its only a $10.00 taxi ride if you need one. The amazing views from the pool were very relaxing. We had a Deluxe room and it was huge and clean. There was a large terrace outside our room, if you wanted to have coffee in the morning or just sit outside. I have visited Bermuda 4 times previously and its still an amazing vacation. One Warning to others visiting Bermuda - all the stores close early in Hamilton (only restaurants were open at dinner time) and on the weekend everything closes at 3pm on Saturday and closed all day Sunday. So buy your snacks and beverages at the market beforehand and it will also save you some money. All day transportation passes (for the bus and ferry) are also worth the money if you dont feel adventurous to ride a scooter. Great hotel cant wait to go back.

Been going here 4 years now and really enjoy this place. Great ferry ride to work in the AM. Also hats off to the reservation person who went out of her way in solving a last minute room problem that we caused. Thank you! By the way the restaurant is fantastic too.

I really felt like I hit the jackpot with this location. Definitely suits my taste! Our suite was modern, clean, big, with all possible amenities AND wonderful views of Hamilton Harbor. We could take the complimentary ferry across to Hamilton or walk a couple of blocks to hop on the public bus. The front desk staff was remarkable! We received help with planning our route, restaurant suggestions, etc. We were given transportation passes (free) that allowed us to save a bundle (taxis are VERY costly in Bermuda) while visiting most of our pre-chosen tourists attractions all over the island. I could "knit pick" but I honestly have no complains. I Highly recommend the hotel. If I make it back to Bermuda, Newstead will be at the top of the list.

Room Tip: We had a garden suite that was large, sunny, and quiet. Had tea and coffee every morning on the lan...

Definitely a fabulous place! Both the resort and Bermuda itself! You are opposite Hamilton, the main town of Bermuda, but that is not a problem as there is a courtesy ferry which runs everyday except for Sunday. But taxis only cost roughly $15 into Hamilton, so not a hassle. Lovely to sit back in the infinity pool and watch the sunset an absolutely unbelievable place and everyone very friendly. Thank you to my niece who was married in such a beautiful place :)

From the moment we checked in and were told that we were upgraded to a gorgeous one bedroom suite on a top floor to the sad time we had to leave, we loved our stay at the Newstead Belmont Hills. The room was amazing, Andrew and Syreeta in the front office made sure that every question and request we had were taken care of and treated us like family, and every other member of the staff that we met were courteous and friendly. I hope that the hotel survives the receivership with its current staff , who made sure to make our stay amazing.

We stayed at Newstead from 9/30 - 10/4 as our "mini-moon", and chose a gem of a hotel. We stayed at the Fairmont Southampton last year where I proposed, and Newstead is on the opposite end of the hotel spectrum. Fairmont is larger, busier, more remote, ocean-facing and with more amenities, whereas Newstead is smaller, more central, more "boutiquey", bay-facing, and with larger, more intimate suites. All rooms have excellent harbor views, and we really enjoyed being in room 410 in the cottages. Our suite was huge with full kitchen, two patios, and a back-yard directly on the water. The suite layout really makes this location for visitors of all types - couples seeking a luxurious room or a family looking to have separate spaces for parents and kids. The full kitchen and proximate store (ask shuttle driver to stop - and tip if so!) make it possible to buy plenty of food/drinks to get you by and perhaps skip a meal a few pricey Bermuda meals out. Great perks were complimentary transportation from and to the airport and the round of golf per day (note - course is very nice but very narrow!). Though the property does not have a beach, guests have full access to the beautiful private beach at Coco Reef which is only a 5 minute hotel shuttle ride away. Staff was exceptionally friendly through and through, with a special nod to Patrica at the front desk and our favorite driver/bellman Eric - both are class acts. Read a few reviews complaining about the ferry to Hamilton's schedule, however we found it prompt, frequent, and quick (you are in downtown Hamilton in 5 minutes). The only items preventing a 5-point rating are a few small touches (certain spots of chipped paint/plaster, dislodged patio screen doors) and a more beautified pool bar area. These are only minor points, and we will definitely staying at Newstead again for future trips.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong. Higher rooms may have slightly more expansive views, but the cottage on water w...
