“Considering it's Bermuda, the value is tops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Shuttle to and from Airport can be arranged (as opposed to a $45.00 cab fare) , and complimentary water taxi across the sound to Hamilton is also a plus. One bedroom suites are worth the extra money , as they are very large and well appointed. Great views of Hamilton and surrounding area. Staff are polite and friendly . Hotel is quite clean.
Note that Bermua is quite expensive , but worth a visit . Scooter travel has become quite dangerous , due to increased traffic and speed driven by the locals.Never ride two persons to a bike . If you really want to rent , and see the whole island , go single.
Meals , drinks, hotel charges etc. , are all subject to gratuities of 10 to 17 % (or more) which are added automatically , so check every bill carefully.

Room Tip: All rooms in main hotel are great . Cottages may be even better , but a couple of them are too close...

We five were there over Christmas (Dec.25- Jan 1).
The resort was very nice: beautiful flooring, nice furniture and comfortable beds. The housekeeping was excellent and the bellmen were great, as were the desk personnel. Kudos to Eric, Andrew and Bernard.
The Christmas Dinner at Beau Rivage was good, but not great ($85 per plate). The service was good, however. Our one meal at The Blu was ordinary to say the least, but not particularly overpriced.
The Newstead Ferry Service hardly ran while we were there, but it was the Holiday. Taxis we found to be very expensive and the rates seemed to be higher higher on Sunday or the Holiday. We had an Island tour with Ivan Smith. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining, so he comes highly recommended. We toured most of the island with him and it was very interesting to have the history explained as well as the customs and general information.
The Crystal Caves are quite nice, but extremely overpriced. Wouldn't actually recommend it. It was very short and cost $20 each. Just not worth the money. The little cafe just outside the Caves had very good food and was inexpensive.
The Hog Penny was our favorite eating place. It had great atmosphere and very good pub food. The Victoria Grill was great as well. Swizzles was especially good. We actually never had a bad meal in Bermuda. New Year's Eve we ate at The Barracuda. It was very good and very expensive.
We used the beach and swam at the Coco Reef. The water was cool, but we swam. They served a good lunch there.
Overall, we loved Bermuda. It was very expensive, but we expected that. It is unlike any other island we have visited and would recommend it. It is expensive in part because they grow only about 20% of their food and almost everything else is imported. Gas is about $9 per gallon. Tourism only accounts for a small amount of island revenue, so the emphasis doesn't seem to be on the tourist. Overall people were friendly and helpful.
The Newstead accommodated a late check-out for us which was greatly appreciated because our plane didn't leave until 6 p.m.. They were helpful in every way.
Great Holiday!!!

Nicer, quieter, and much newer than the "in town" options in Hamilton, the Newstead offered a water shuttle over for our meetings and provided a great escape from the busy Hamilton setting.

The service was great, and the restaurant and accommodations excellent.

I had to go to Bermuda for some work, en route back to the UK for Xmas with family. We were recommended to the Newstead Belmont, and it was a great spot, with boat service to Hamilton across the harbour. The food and service was great, as were the rooms, with a really nice view.

We went to this hotel for our 30th wedding anniversary. I surprised my wife with champagne and strawberries as an added treat. Very smart, good call! The hotel staff were wonderful. The suite was magnificent and very clean. We had a suite on the top floor and the view of Hamilton was super. The restaurant in the hotel was pricey but worth the cost for the convenience. Locals on the plane over said it was one of the best places to dine on the island.

My only complaint was that the wi-fi was not good at my end of the hotel but you can't have everything I guess.

The private ferry turned out to be an extra bonus as we took it to town and caught the bus or local ferries from there. Very handy for first time visitors and useful for the seasoned traveler. You are "in the city" without being in the city and the cab ride back late at night was about $10, so it was a real benefit. From reviews on this site we asked for and got a very high room. Spectacular views! We loved

Room Tip: Higher the better for the views...

We took our entire family (9 adults, 6 children) to Newstead for Thanksgiving on short notice and we had a spectacular visit. Newstead fit us in on short notice (Pink Beach had cancelled our reservations with them). The condos were all in good shape, the location right on the harbor is very convenient and the pool, gym, etc all worked out beautifully. The food in the restaurant was excellent but pricey. We would all go back in a heartbeat.

We stayed here for 4 nights, my husband was on a business trip which we extended to enjoy a weekend in Bermuda. We had a basic room: it was large, lovely bath room with jacuzi tub and fab views from the terrace. Free room wifi was great. As the island is so small it probably doesn't matter where you stay but I'd recommend Newstead as it is just a 5 minute free boat shuttle to the capital Hamilton, $10 taxi fare. The best thing about the hotel is the friendly and helpful staff. We hired a scooter and toured the entire island in a day. Bermuda is stunning and very safe.
