Our room at Newstead Belmont Hills was located in a cottage unit, with a direct water view. The multi level layout of the room worked nicely in keeping the spaces separate, and the extra half bath was a great addition not often found in one bedroom units. I was a little worried about the a/c being in wall units instead of central, but it was not a problem at all.
The room was very clean, beds were comfortable (including the queen sized sofa sleeper), and plenty of towels were provided each day. Night time turn down service was a nice touch too.
One of the best features of this property is the friendly, and very accommodating staff. They were readily available to answer questions (with a smile!), or offer suggestions for transportation or things to do. We also were fortunate to meet many of the fractional owners who spend a lot of time here, they were so kind as to include us into their group of friends. Very enjoyable to converse with and really made us feel welcome!
Pros:
Location across the harbor provides beautiful vistas and easy access to Hamilton via the ferry. It also is close to a grocery market. Shortly after arrival, the hotel taxi drove us and waited while we shopped for what food items we needed. There are also quite a few good restaurants just a quick taxi ride away.
Loved the infinity edge pool! Hanging out on the side and watching the boats or the sunset was very relaxing. Towels were plentiful, as were lounge chairs.
Nice fitness center with free weights, cardio equipment with a view.
Spa looked good but didn't get a chance to try it (next time for sure)
Our favorite meal of the trip was at Blu, located at Belmont Hills Golf Course. The shuttle will take you and bring you back. We were very impressed with the melt- in- your- mouth salmon entree, and the many sushi options. The contemporary decor and lighting made a pretty setting, and the servers were professional.
The beach at Coco Reef was wonderful! Chairs and towels provided at no charge, and we also were able to use their pool as the water was too rough for my 12 year old. Shuttle service to and from made it quite easy. Another plus is a quick walk brings you right on to Elbow Beach where you can get food/drinks, or just walk the long stretch of pink sand. Really enjoyed this whole set up.
Airport shuttle was prompt and appreciated in both directions.
Cons:
The kitchens could use a few more dishes/utensils to cut down on dish washing.
Some of the bath towels seemed to have no absorbency to them, which we found strange.
The shuttle only runs in the morning and in the evening, with no afternoon service. So you either had to leave your room by 11:20, or wait until 5:20.
Hot tub was the same temp as the pool. Neither were heated, but we didn't find this to be a problem.
I will definitely return to NBH in any future trips to Bermuda. The smaller scale and more personal feel makes this an ideal place for honeymooners, but I would also recommend for families due to the spacious rooms and kitchen facilities.
Room Tip: Cottage units provide an unobstructed view of the harbor and Hamilton.
