“Great hotel at great locaion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

My husband and I spent the weekend at the Newstead Belmot Hills. I have to admit our hotel room was amazing! It was a large 1 bedroom apartment with 1.5 bath. The balcony stretched from the living room to our bedroom. The views were gorgeous!! You can see the lovely town of Hamilton and the views of the sunset are fabulous. The room was clean and the furniture was nice and modern. We also enjoyed the shuttle boat back and forth to Hamilton (but always confirm shuttle times as they can change). The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are willing to make any reservations needed for dining or other activities.

We dined at the Blu Restaurant (had the lobster, it's now in season...delish) which is at the golf course. The hotel will shuttle you at a moments notice.

We enjoyed time at the pool as well. The only downside to the pool area was that there wasn't any wait staff pool side. My husband had to get up and go to the bar each time to get a drink and the bartender didn't clean up cups/food leftover from people who left. It would have been nice to have that extra service.

Other than that, we would go back for sure. Love the boutique hotel feeling with modern amenities.

Room Tip: Ask for the newer rooms as they still have the cottages from the old resort.

We stayed here over labor day weekend and had a great time! We came as a couple, no kids. This place is more suited to couples or groups with no small children. There is a pool/hottub, spa, bar, restaurant onsite. A shuttle runs to the beach and golf course. Take advantage of the beach shuttle! You will not be disappointed! While there, walk down the beach to mickeys for lunch. Do not expect a great meal at beau rivage. The food was okay but there is much better to be had on the island. The service is slow! Restaurants to try: blu, coconuts, mickeys, lido(drinks). Everyone is super friendly and the beaches and weather are beautiful! We stayed in the one bedroom suite and were surprised at the level of detail in the residence. The concierge is very knowledgeable! Tristan is super!

Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. The accommodation is very spacious and immaculately clean. Stayed on the top floor and had fantastic views across to Hamilton. Room very quiet, although 2nd bedroom would have benefitted from black out curtains.
The pool area is a lovely place to relax and sunbathe. Fantastic service from Josh who made amazing cocktails and delicious milkshakes.
Ate at beau rivage for breakfast, weekly BBQ and dinner. Service and food excellent. The brunch at blu is a must, with the most amazing selection of food. Make sure you are hungry before you go.

Used the hotels water taxi, which was always on time and made the journey across to Hamilton a delight.
Elbow beach is the most beautiful beach we have seen and the hotel run the shuttle service daily until 4 pm.
Worth a visit; st George, dockyard (especially on a Monday evening), crystal caves, the swizzle inn, the lobster pot restaurant in Hamilton and many more places!
An fantastic holiday in an amazing place. Can't wait to go back.

My husband and I stayed at Newstead 3 nights in late August to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The spacious one bedroon suite was literally on the waterfront with an amazing view of the harbor and Hamilton. We had a little side patio with a small table and two chairs, and in addition there was a small yard area with two comfy chairs from which we could sit and watch the harbor activity. The bathroom was equally as spacious and was spotlessly clean. Our only complaint about the bathroom was that the tub drain was very sluggish and took a while to empty. There was a convenient vanity area with a lit magnifying makeup mirror. The small kitchen area got no use while we were there but did have everything you'd need to whip up a small meal or keep things cold. What sets Newstead apart from other properties is that it provides free airport pick-up/delivery, free ferry shuttles to/from Hamilton (limited schedule), and free golf with shuttles to and from the golf course and it's restaurant, Blu (highly recommend). They even gave us a free shuttle ride to Fourways Inn restaurant one evening because they were having trouble getting cabs. The golf course was lots of fun, but a bit narrow. (Hit 'em straight!) Just had to pay $35 for cart fee. The day we were there there was a tournament going on for local players and they still squeezed us in. The locals couldn't have been nicer or friendlier which we found to be true of all Bermudians. Don't look for nightlife at Newstead. We were looking for somewhere relaxing and that's exactly what we got! Our only negative feedback was that the pool area seems woefully neglected. It's a beautiful infinity pool, but the deck area is rather small and some days it was hard to find a lounge chair available and the left over dishes weren't always picked up at night. Towels were plentiful, but the bar was nearly empty. One day I asked for a rum drink and was told they were out of rum! It's Bermuda, how could you be out of rum?? There is also a small observation area that had a couple of low chairs and nothing else. They should capitalize on those views and spruce up the pool and observation areas. For the most part the staff (especially Tristan) were friendly and helpful. One day we took a cab ($40 one way) to the Dockyard. The cab ride itself was well worth the money just to see that side of the island, and our cab driver, Richardlina, was a wealth of information. Don't go there for the shops (very tacky), but be sure to visit the museum ($10). It sits up on the hill with spectacular views. While in Bermuda the weather was gorgeous, if not a little too hot and humid, but that made the pool all that more refreshing. We wouldn't hesitate to go back to Newstead.

Room Tip: One bedroom suites are located in little cottages right on the waterfront. It had a side patio, but...

Stayed here with my husband for our first time in Bermuda...I cannot say enough about the friendliest staff you could have asked for. This hotel is small and pays attention to every detail with service top notch. You are across from Hamilton and its amazing restaurants etc. The resort will shuttle you by ferry at night and you can get a cab home fairly inexpensively. There is a free shuttle to their golf course which has a great restaurant for sushi called Blu and a free shuttle to a sister resort on a beach if you want to explore a great beach and snorkel. Eric was our driver for the three days we spent here. He was kind, humorous, professional, and a wealth of information about life on Bermuda. There is no beach at this hotel as you are on the bay but the suites are built into the hillside and you enjoy a closer to the water view from rooms with a balcony. If you are looking for lots of action, however, this hotel will not be the one for you. It's quiet and a nice retreat for a romantic getaway.

We stayed from July 27th through August 3rd 2012. we wished we could have stayed longer. The room was quiet and we didn't hear any other guests. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and it was fantastic. The view was amazing. I loved the fact we were on the ground level because it felt like we had a yard. We got to see some beautiful birds every morning and see the local lizards doing their push ups while we had our meals out there.

Our blender didn't work, we made a call and we got another one immediately. If we wanted our garbage taken out, they would come and grab it for us. The front reception desk was so helpful and extremely nice. The bellmen were great, if we needed to go some where in the shuttle, they took us and we never had to wait long to get a shuttle back.

Beau Rivage for room service was awesome. We got this turkey ciabatta sandwich almost every day. It was THAT good. We had dinner there twice and even though both my meals were amazing. My husband's last meal he didn't like. They were out of the beef bourguignon. He asked the waiter his opinion on what he should get. So he winded up getting the beef wellington and he did not like it. They covered it with this thick sauce and it had a really thick layer of both liver and crust. It took a while before we got a waiter and they offered him something else from the menu but it was already too late. I was done with my meal. They gave him a free espresso. But the other things we did have: the foie gras, mussels, steak au poivre and rack of lamb were fantastic.

The pool is gorgeous. It was like bath water. I didn't see a place where you could drop your used towels so people would leave the towels on the chairs. You could never tell if someone was using a chair or not. One time (notice just once) when I went to get a towel there were none so I had to run back to the room (which was literally 20 feet for us) and get our towels from the room.

The golf course was nice. You definitely need the shuttle to get there. Make sure you get a tee time. The hotel called the pro shop and said we can come down at any time as long as it was before 3pm. and when we went in to the pro shop to pay for our cart they said next time we need a tee time. I am complete novice and felt like the course ran into each other sometimes. We also were told we had to stay on the cart path but noticed that people were driving on it.

Spa- My husband tried to get a hair appointment and would call every other day but they were very booked and couldn't take him for a hair cut. So if you are planning on getting a hair cut do it before you go on vacation.

We are definitely going to come back hopefully next year.
