“Great place to stay while exploring Bermuda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

Stayed in 2 bedroom suite. It was our first time in Bermuda. Came with two grown up kids to celebrate our birthdays with the friends who stayed in different hotels and resorts.
Accomodations are very comfortable with a picture perfect harbor views and a town of Hamilton from each room of the suite as well as patio that is accessable from each room of the suite. Nice bathrooms and rooms. Very clean, fully equiped kitchen for those who want to cook, although there are plenty of great places to eat on an island.
Very relaxing small resort.
Great service and ease to get a taxi anywhere on the island.

Room Tip: Depending on number of members in your party, I would recommend a suite, either one or two bedroom o...

Newstead Belmont Hills is a beautiful hotel with a very beautiful swimming pool and fabulous harbor view! We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which has one king size bed in a very large bedroom, huge bathroom (huge bathtub and big shower), kitchen, dining area, big living room, powder room and huge patio. There is high point ceiling that the room was on the top of the building. Fabulous view from the patio! Beautiful hardwood floor everywhere. They have hot tub next to the swimming pool and it was so awesome and beautiful! Rent a moped is recommended because you can go to many beaches as you want. We went to Bermuda for many years. We stayed at several hotels (Fairmont Southampton, Fairmont Princess, Four Ways Inn, Elbow Beach, Castle Harbour (now Tucker), Invururie (now new name of the old hotel?). So far, it's Newstead Belmont Hills is the BEST hotel of all!! My two older teenage kids said they love this hotel, Newstead the best, too! We love two restaurants the best which is Mickey's at Elbow Beach which is on the front of the ocean on the beach (beautiful!!) and HogPenny in downtown Hamilton. Very good food! We love Tio Pepe (italian restaurant) up the hill from Horseshoe Bay. Pizza was so good. We also love Swizzle Inn restaurant for lunch (orginal place)! We will definitely always go back to Bermuda. We will come back to Bermuda in about 2 years. Bermuda is one of my favorite countries in the world. We will definitely come back to Newstead Belmont Hills!!! So beautiful!! It's my 12th time and it's my husband's 8th time and it's my kids' 6th time for visiting in Bermuda.

Perfect location with a great view, central location, a fabulous infinity pool with stunning views of the harbor, and a courteous and energetic staff make this the best deal on the island. We stayed in a gorgeous suite that was convenient for a couple as it had a kitchenette.
The best part of Newstead is their transportation. The only hotel with a private ferry to get you to Hamilton and hence on your way very easily to anywhere else on the island. They have a beach shuttle to Coco Reef Beach as well as Belmont Hills Golf Club.
Anyone who has tried to get around Bermuda learns quickly that taxis are expensive, the busses are not air conditioned and very unreliable, and renting a scooter is frankly as dangerous as walking railroad tracks at night....in a thunderstorm....during rush hour.
Seriously, Newstead is THE PLACE to stay while vacationing in Bermuda.

The Newstead Belmont Hills is a beautiful hotel, centrally located with a gorgeous infinity pool and outstanding views of the harbor. My room (Deluxe room) was very spacious (probably 500 sq feet), had 2 double beds, a large bathroom and a huge patio with unique views of the harbor and the city of Hamilton. There is a small fridge in the room but it is not a mini-bar. Furniture are modern and beds very comfortable. The hotel provided a free shuttle bus to the Coco Reef Resort where you can use the private beach or walk to Elbow Beach. Note that the shuttle is very small (7 people max). However in Bermuda I would always recommend to rent a scooter. The hotel has a partnership with Oleander Cycles. They will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the rental place 5 minutes away. You do not need to return the scooter to Oleander, they will pick it up at the hotel, very convenient. The food at the Belmont Hills is very good (breakfast room service, Blue Rivage restaurant for diner). Note that the hotel advertises a Sunday Jazz Brunch... in fact it is just a very expensive brunch ($38, coffee, juices and water not included!!) and there is no Live music as I expected but just a radio playing Barry White and Sinatra in a loop... disappointed with the ambiance but the food once again is very good. The staff throughout the hotel is really friendly, helpful and professional even though sometimes not entirely at par with what you would expect from a luxury property. The hotel provides free airport pick up and free transportation back to the airport (book it 24h in advance).

Loved Newstead! The staff was very helpful and very nice, very accommodating! Didn't have room ready but was given an upgrade to a one Bedroom suite that was so wonderful with an amazing view. Great decor and bed linens, full beautiful kitchen, Only for a small extra charge.

Love the Location the view of the Harbour is ever changing especially from the infinity swimming pool. The beach shuttle is terrific and having beach rights at coral beach next to Mickey's and the Coral beach Hotel provides great food and drinks right there on the pink Sand and Turquoise water!!! So Brilliant!!!

The Pool Bar served great food but could use some decor...its very plain and could be really nice with an upgrade! The French restaurant upstairs was really good for breakfast and made us wonderful cheese platters for our private boat trip. Which was wonderful to be picked up at hotel for a 5 hour glass bottom, rum swizzle snorkle trip!!! Aquatic Bermuda Glass bottom boat tours!! Great captain and best rum swizzle on island!!!

Cant wait to go back!!!

Despite having a couple of glitches with our first room, management handled the situation very professionally and promptly.

Location is as other have said, fantastic. Centrally located so easy access to all parts of the island, including Hamilton and the wonderful Southhampton beaches. Harbour views are great and the decks are an absolutely wonderful way to end a day of exploring. The shuttle to Elbow Beach (which as picturesque beach as you will find anywhere) was super convenient and the pool at the resort itself was very nice. We did get the sense that some maintenance was perhaps being pushed a bit so it is possible that if things deteriorate then the hotel may not be quite as great a spot in a year or so. For now, however, these things didn't bother us at all and we had a wonderful time.

It is not a cheap place by any stretch, but if you look you can find deals like free nights, etc. that make it more affordable as compared to other top tier resorts on Bermuda. I stayed at the Fairmont Southamption a couple of years back, for example, and found the Newstead to be a fare more quaint, accessible and enjoyable experience, for less money.

Tip -- if you are comfortable with them, plan on renting a scooter. It is the best way to explore the island. If you do, don't be afraid to get off the beaten path, make lots of stops and generally enjoy the journey. Bermuda is such a treasure. One of the most beautiful and safe places you will find in the Caribbean (I know it is not tecnically the Caribbean, but you get my point) if not the world.

Room Tip: Avoid room 7147 -- it has a smell that we were told only comes out when it is "hot and humid&qu...

Stayed in a 1 bedrm cottage for 5 nts Aug 10-14. Initially we were disappointed as what we were staying in did not look like the website at all. Turns out, we were in the cottages which are not part of the newer building which sits up high off the water. They could not move us that afternoon, but told us not to unpack too much and to call at 9:00 am and they'd try to move us in the morning. The cottages are very nice, just did not have the view we wanted.
Well, called at 9 am, and was told I'd get a call back. By 10 am no call so I went to the front desk. They were slammed with people and told me they could move us, but then we'd have to move again for our last night. I declined as by then we just wanted to unpack, get settled and enjoy our trip.
Turns out as the days wore on that little cottage grew on us, and if I were to return I may actually request one of them. Ours was as close to the water as you could get. There was a dock right below us that had a ladder and we did see some folks go for a swim there. The benefit of the cottage was that you had a balcony literally right on the water off the bedroom, then a covered proch off the living area, and then a grassy area with 2 lounge chairs, table and ottoman. If you were in a newer unit you'd probably just have one balcony, but can't say for sure as we never saw the inside of them. Our views from the balcony bedroom were unobstructed, and we sat there for hours watching the activity in the harbor. It was very private, unlike the balconys in the larger, newer building.
The room itself was great, fully appointed kitchen, flat screen TV's, 1 1/2 bath's...all well kept, and very comfortable. The only downside were the A/C units. The cottages do not have central air. We had one unit in the bedrm, and one in the living area. The full bath is in between these areas and seemd to get no ventillation, though it does have an exhaust fan. The A/C units seemed to want to randomly shut off, and we had to keep turning them back to full power. No problem, just annoying occasionally.
Housekeeping was great, we did tip each day, and they knocked every afternoon late asking about turn down, we declined it but did ask for extra bath towels and they were happy to get them. The icemaker in our fridge did not work, and they must have known that as each day they brought a full ice bucket to our room.
The Newstead ferry as others have said just did not seem to run at convenient times for us. I think we rode it twice. It quits about 11:30 on weekdays, and doesn't run again until late afternoon. There is limited service on Sat and none on Sun so we took a lot of taxis back and forth to Hamilton. That in itself was frustrating, as sometimes it was $12, other times $15 depending on which way the driver took us.
The front desk staff, and the bellmen were all very gracious and eager to please. We especially want to commend Patrica (pronounced Pa-tri-ka), Eric, and Tristen for their friendly ways and helpfulness. The shuttle service to the beach is prompt and efficient. We did not golf or go to Blu.
We only went to the pool late one day, and it was crowded, and just not our thing so we stayed just to take a short swim.
On the last day, we checked out at 11:00 thinking we'd go to Bl for lunch and they back to the resort to catch our 12:30 ride to the airport. Truns out Blu is not open for lunch in spite of what the literature in your room indicates. So, we had lunch at the resort, and it was very good.
While on Bermuda we saw Coco Reef, Elbow Beach Hotel,Roesdon, Princess, and Grotto Bay Resort...and hands down I go back to Newstead without question!
I may even request the little cottage right on the water:)
