“Home away from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Last year, I stayed at Kingston House B&B as it seemed to afford the best facilities for the best price. This year, I once again chose Kingston House because, frankly, why would I want to stay anywhere else? And next year, when I return, there will be no question about where to stay.

Returning to Kingston House this year felt like returning home, especially as I once again stayed in the Jacaranda Room. Since last year, some improvements have been made, such as a bigger area to prepare food in the Guest Lounge as well as a new, very clever water cooler which extracts water out of the air for either hot or cold drinks. The rooms have also benefited with the replacement of the old tubs with new, modern showers.

What hasn’t changed is the warm, friendly welcome you will receive from Harry and Marlie (and Digby, the resident dog), the wealth of knowledge about the island they are eager to share with their guests around the breakfast table, the delicious options available for breakfast (including superb home-roasted coffee), the offer of rides into the City of Hamilton, availability of beach towels and mats and the knowledge that the hosts want you to truly experience the Bermuda they are proud to call home.

You can stay at any hotel to experience the beauty of Bermuda but to really get a sense of what makes it such a magical island, stay at Kingston House Bed & Breakfast.

The house is located in a very quite area (residential road in hamilton).
It's only 5-10 minutes walk from the scooter rental store, 10-15 minutes walk from the Ferry Terminal and Front Street and 15-20 Minutes from the Bus Terminal.
It's quiet during the day and incredibly quiet at night.
The room (palmetto suite) was clean, comfy, with a big closet, terrace and had all the comfort (even more than expected). The bed was extremely comfortable too.. in fact it wasn't easy to wake up early in the morning.
The house has a well furnished common area and a patio with a great swimming pool (the one you can turn on the current and swim as much as you want and as fast as you like). There s a big fridge where you can store your food. Each room has it own space in the common area kitchen for more food storage. They also provide you with plates and silverware.
There's a gas BBQ in the patio next to the pool. This means you can cook and eat in every time you want and this is definitely a big PLUS considering the restaurants in Bermuda aren't cheap.
They provide you with clean beach towels every day. You'll find soap, very good shampoo and conditioner too. You do not really need to bring much from home besides some light clothes!
They also have more travel guides, books, maps about bermuda than any book store on the island! Do not forget to ask for recommendations to Marley and Harry.. you'll never go wrong, trust me!
They really are the best hosts we ever had and we were really sad when we left. They make you feel home in every way.
And I cannot forget one of the best perk of the house ... Digby "ButterPads" Powell, the PartyDog.. Dive for the Queen, Digby!!!

If your like B&B's this is for you!! We stayed in July and thoroughly enjoyed our time ther. Harry and Marlie are so nice and go to great lengths to make your stay a pleasant one. The house is quaint and extremely comfortable. We stayed in the Palmetto Suite and was so welcome to come back to after a long day.The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was very clean. Breakfast was good--loved the scones!! Harry roasts his own coffee. Harry was also so accomodating--he even drove us into town a few times!! Harry and Marlie are also great conversationalists and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Marlie even waved as we left in the cab as if we were old friends leaving!!

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor have a small deck

Harry and Marlie Powell of the Kingston House are the best B&B hosts my wife and I have ever encountered. Their careful attention to detail, immaculate rooms, wonderful conversation, awesome pool and incredible yard make this an exceptional place to stay. Harry and Marlie do whatever it takes to make their guests feel welcome. We highly recommend the Kingston House B&B for anybody who appreciates the B&B experience.

My friend and I recently had the opportunity to stay at Kingston House. The experience was delightful and positive from the very moment of our arrival. Marlie and Harry were kind, helpful, and hospitable hosts. As others have already commented, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

The beautiful house itself was a thoughtfully organized and secure environment for guests. The room we stayed in, (Frangipani), was charming, clean, and comfortable.

Breakfast was plentiful and tailored to our preferences. (It was also lovely to meet and chat with other guests during the breakfast hour!)

I recommend Kingston House to adults looking for excellent, reasonably priced accommodations, along with wonderful personal attention.

I was vacationing with a close friend of mine in Bermuda for a few days, and we selected this place because it was within our budget, and we weren't interested in the "large resort" style experience- like at the "Princess Mayfair" or other beachfront resorts. One should note that the prices quoted on their website are "taxes included" so although you might see a lower base price for other B+Bs, the value for this stay was exceptional.

When we arrived, Marlie greeted us at the front gate and proceeded to give a thorough welcome introduction to the place, the area, and our plans for activities during our stay. I was quite impressed with the house- it is a two-story stone building that has a very charming and welcoming feel, impeccably clean, and with informational packets and books everywhere. We also were treated to a mini tour- Harry took us in his car around the downtown area, recommending restaurants as well as sightseeing opportunities.

The room was beautiful- we stayed in the Frangipani room- and it had a full bathroom, TV, all the amenities one would expect from a larger hotel. However- It felt like home! There is also a wonderful patio to sit out on by a small pool. For rainy days, the family has a large selection of books and DVDs available.

Breakfast was wonderful- Marlie treated us to her baking as well as offering a selection of delicious cereals and pastries, as well as her own home-roasted coffee. Breakfast was only from 8-9, and this provided a great opportunity to meet and chat with other guests and exchange stories.

I would definitely come back to this house- located about a 10 minute walk from central Hamilton. The stay with Marlie + Harry was memorable!
