“Friendly with a touch of luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

This is our second stay at this hotel - so that answers your first question of "would they go there again?" First it is conveniently located for Hamilton, five minutes walk along a quiet tree lined road and you are in the city. Of course you could go by taxi - they arrive within minutes of bein requested by the hotel and a trip into town would be around $8. The staff are very friendly, every one of them. We have sampled two of the rooms, each beautifully clean and fresh, very comfortable good sized beds and well equipped with kettle microwave, small grill and plates etc. office facilities are also available - wifi in all rooms and wireless printing. Breakfast is served from 7 am to 10 am, all manner of bread, muffins, fruit, toast, cereal, yoghurt, cheese and ham. Coffee is available all day and wine from 5:30 to 6:30. In all it is the next best thing to home.

Room Tip: No 134 has dual aspect views and is close to the pool.

As first time visitors to Bermuda, we couldn't have had a better experience. Royal Palms is a charming, small hotel with fabulous attention to detail. The rooms are perfectly furnished and immaculate. Location makes it so easy to walk to town (an easy 10 to 15 min) and connect with the buses and ferries if you wish. The staff is always available to help with reservations, touring tips, etc. Kate and John are just the most amazing and helpful staff. Ascots is not to be missed; we dined there twice during our brief stay. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else on our next trip to Bermuda.

This has to be one of the finest hotels in the world. From the very day we arrived we were made so welcome by all of the staff. Everyone had a smile on their face at all times of the day and the night. Aleshia was so helpful and just made our day. Every morning we had breakfast which was fab but added to this was Johns fantastic jokes. In the evenings at the bar and restaurant we received absolutely undivided attention from all the staff We came strangers and left as friends and would recommend the royal palms hotel to anyone who wants to have a comfortable stay in the beautiful island of Bermuda.

While I normally only visit Bermuda on business, I stay at Royal Palms because it is a true Bermuda experience. Charming rooms (in any area of the hotel, and I have stayed in all of them), beautiful gardens, lovely sitting areas and a fabulous adjoining restaurant that has both a formal and casual dining room. You can even order from either menu and sit in the cosy bar on comfortable chairs to eat. I may only go for business, but Royal Palms makes it feel like a mini vacation.

My husband and I just returned from a five night stay at the Royal Palms in Bermuda. It is a very lovely small hotel which makes you feel like a cherished member of their family.

The entire staff including the front desk, restaurant managers, housekeepers, and everyone else could not have been more helpful and loving in their treatment of us. They offered invaluable tips of where to go and how to best utilize the transportation system. The complimentary breakfast buffet was always fresh and had a nice assortment of fresh fruits, rolls, waffles, cereals and other breakfast offerings. Just enough for a good start to the day.

They also have a 24 hour coffee machine available for anyone to use, picking the type of coffee or tea they would like.

In the evening they have a complimentary wine tasting on the adorable porch area. This was a great place to enjoy the wine and get to know some of the other people staying there. Very convivial atmosphere. The grounds are gorgeous with many beautiful trees and flowers. There are many places to just sit quietly and just enjoy the views of the landscaping - even a nice swing in front. Their on- site restaurant, Ascot's, is the best restaurant experience we had in Bermuda. The food was WONDERFUL. I had a fantastic Salmon Wellington, preceded by their special Banana Rum Soup - YUMMY. My husband enjoyed his Roasted Veal Chops. It was our 40th anniversary and they served our wonderful dessert with a large cookie inscribed with "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY". The restaurant staff was very friendly and accommodating.

When we wanted to go into the town of Hamilton, it was just a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Very convenient. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Warm, inviting, well located, exceptionally caring and loving staff, and beautiful. Would definitely stay there again when returning to Bermuda. They made us feel very wanted, special, and appreciated...very rare.

Room Tip: We had a little mini-suite. Would choose larger room next time.

We had wanted a smaller hotel for a week's vacation, where we could relax, take some time off and NOT have to deal with crowds, big long hallways, hundreds of people, and crowded dining rooms. Checked out guest houses (which abound in Bermuda and are great) and B&Bs, but Royal Palms, recommended by a friend, turned out to be perfect in nearly every way. It is just outside the main shopping area of Hamilton and not on the beaten path of all the people from cruise ships who disembark regularly, but within easy walking distance of shops and waterfront as well as many good restaurants. The Royal Palms staff were wonderful, welcoming, accommodating, and flexible. They notice the small things, and this kind of sensitivity results in great comfort in the common spaces (a main living area, plus an attached open-air porch and a lovely breakfast room with outdoor garden seating in warm weather) on a very manageable, almost intimate scale. You feel like you're a guest in someone's home, but not the kind of guest who needs constant (potentially irritating) attention. There are many guest rooms, both in the main building and in outbuildings. Our room was booked as a standard room but we were upgraded when we arrived (without asking), since a larger room, with sitting room and kitchenette, was available. It was in an outbuilding across the gardens from the main hotel, on an upper floor, very quiet at all times, and well appointed. (Its only drawback was the shower water pressure -- very weak on our second floor, so showers took much longer!) Our rate included breakfast -- very generous and with lots of variety. And the best part of all in the mornings was John Moss, who managed the breakfast dining. An Irishman with the charm and generosity one always hopes for in travel. He got each morning we were there off to a wonderful start, could not have been more accommodating and delightful, and provided us some great tips on what to see and do on the island. (Can't say enough about this splendid gent.) The hotel is attached to one of Bermuda's finest 5-star restaurants, Ascot, open for dinner, and we began our culinary explorations there the first night. Fabulous, with formal, excellent service, incredible offerings, and good wines. Prices are high there, so we didn't make a habit of it, but did eat there one additional time. (There is one small thing I should add about Royal Palm that really impressed me: We ran out of closet hangers right away but I didn't call for more. We hung a few things on top of each other in the closet. When we returned one evening, housekeeping had been there, and we saw that a dozen more hangers had been left. Now THAT is a sign of great service! A small thing, but memorable. You know that someone was paying close attention to guests' needs. It's really the small things that make a big difference in travel.) The hotel front desk is staffed around the clock, so there was no time when we could not have asked a question. The grounds of this place are gorgeous and well kept, full of tall palms and mature plantings (the trees even have small plaques that identify what they are -- a great touch), color, and variety. We rented a motor bike for the week for getting around, and parking at Royal Palms was a snap. There is a small pool at the hotel but we never used it, preferring the many beaches instead. We can't say enough about this outstanding small hotel, and will plan to return there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in one of the outbuildings, preferably on a high floor. It'll be quieter. Many ha...

After a lovely stay in St George's at Crooked Elbow, my daughter and I arrived at Royal Palms Hotel for a weekend visit.Departing the taxi,my daughter realized she left her passport and money in the nightstand at the guestrental.Alerting the desk staff of our difficulties, problem solved with ease due to their expertise in customer service-The Rowes, our host and hostess from Crooked Elbow immediately sent the misplaced items by taxi as recommended by hotel.Yes,all the money was returned-This in itself, exemplifies why I enjoy visiting Bermuda. Our stay was perfect with a lovely suite situated in a beautifully manicured property. This was a special trip for us as we were celebrating my daughter's, upcoming graduation. She's been teaching full time, while completing her Masters Degree.I highly recommend Royal Palms for other mothers and daughters travelling to Bermuda. The location is safe and secure. We could not have choose a better location to explore Hamilton for shopping and dining.Everything is just a short walk away. The neighborhood surrounding the property, walking along Richmond Road has many beautiful homes or up the hill on Rosemont Ave, no sidewalks but,a short walk to the waterfront. We dined at Ascots and enjoyed the experience with excellent food and service. To sum up our experience, outstanding due to the professional level of hospitality exhibited by ALL staff. My recent hotel stays have never ended in a sincere goodbye hug from the front desk staff. The owners can be very proud of their staff because they are wonderful ambassadors of all Bermuda has to offer in the tourist industry!
