“Cozy and charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

The Rosedon Hotel is a charming and comfortably elegant historic house/hotel. It is located on the quieter end of the main road. We found it to be perfectly adequate with some nice touches although it does not reach the level of what can be considered a luxury property. The PROS are it is pretty and cozy. The breakfast is ample and is served when and where you would like it. It is promptly delivered and is very good. Although the hotel is not located on the beach, the hotel pays for taxi service to Elbow Beach at specific times of day. The house itself is pretty and has a variety of sitting areas. Afternoon tea is served daily and is very popular. Most of the staff are very helpful and friendly. Some rooms have outside balcony area. There were fresh flowers around the hotel which was very pleasing. Mine did and I enjoyed my breakfast there on most days. The verandah is also quite lovely. The hotel hosts a mixer party with food and drink included. Walking distance to shopping, many restaurants and the ferry.

The CONS are that it is not beachfront if that is what you are looking for and they do not offer umbrellas or chairs to take with you to the beach. These can be rented on Elbow Beach but are quite expensive. On other beaches (Long Bay or Horseshoe Bay) the rental prices seem to be much less but the hotel transportation will only take you as far as Elbow Beach (12 min ride) and you have to get a moped (no car rentals in Bermuda) or take the bus (which is comfortable). The hotel taxi service to the beach only comes and goes a few times per day and if you like to go to the beach later in the day you are on your own. The biggest inconvenience for us was the very spotty Wi-Fi. The hotel should really consider installing a booster. We simply could not stay connected in our rooms but had better (though not great) connectivity in the sitting room downstairs. Afternoon tea is popular and they take some time to restock items as they go quickly and there is no consistent service (that I could see) clearing seating areas or assisting guests during the tea. I had to get my own milk from the pantry when it was out. If a staff member happens to see you need attention, however, they seemed happy to provide it. I thought the rooms were adequate although they could have been more luxurious (i.e. better linens etc) especially the bathrooms. My room safe was not in good working order.

Service was very personal, super helpful aery nice. The hotel petite and sweet, specially the main house, everything was nicely preserved, and it has a charm to its decoration that is very cosy. and our room was quite spacious. They brought breakfast to your room or where ever you wanted to you (in the hotel) within minutes.

Thank you for this positive review. We are pleased that you found the hotel and it's services to be good. The small size of the Hotel helps us to be able to deliver breakfast in record time.

My daughter and I returned to the Rosedon Hotel and found it as lovely as ever. Many thanks
Rosedon for the welcome-back basket with Prosecco and cookies. From the moment we crossed the threshold we were well taken care of. We enjoyed our included breakfast each morning on the front porch - - - many mornings they customized our order. The pool temperature was just right, hotel has stacks of towels for our use at the pool. The front desk made reservations for us in the evening for dinner, and called our taxi when we did not walk to our destination. The thing that most separates Rosedon Hotel from others is the very friendly staff. My daughter and I wondered if they only hired kind, helpful, thoughtful caring staff or did the hotel indoctrinate everyone. (But then, we found the Bermudians we met when they were traveling to work were the handsomest, best groomed, cheerful greeters around). So, go ahead, ask me : " how was your stay at the Rosedon ? " Superb. I can't wait to plan my return.

I stayed here based on Trip Advisor reviews and therefore had high expectations which were unfortunately not met. Rosedon is located directly opposite the Fairmont Hamilton a 5-10 minute walk to the City of Hamilton. I was disappointed to find that it really a Bed-and-Breakfast, as there is no restaurant or proper bar. In that respect I was surprised as the price was that of a good hotel but as a B&B then it was very, and in my view, too expensive. The gardens are lush, the heated pool is large, service is personal and attentive, full English breakfast is served where you wish, there is a weekly ‘Swizzle Party’ on Tuesday evening, afternoon tea, and they provide transport at fixed times to Elbow beach. Although there are rooms in the main house the majority of the rooms seem to be in a motel style two story stack behind the main house. The room was traditionally furnished but just a little tired with a small old fashioned bathroom. I suggest that Trip Advisor traveler submitted photos give an accurate sense of the room we stayed in. The ‘Provided by Management’ photos certainly weren’t reflective of the room we stayed in. I have previously stayed at the Fairmont Hamilton and plan to do a comparative review.

Thank you for this review. We are truly dispappointed that after reading the rave reviews and trying us that we did not live up to your expectations. You are right, we do not have a restaurant. But after a full hearty breakfast and afternoon tea, most guests welcome the opportunity to try out the many restaurants (at least 20) that are within walking distance to the hotel. Our pricing not only includes our breakfast and afternoon tea, but also our swizzle party with hot and cold 'goodies', transport to Beach and wifi.
We sincerely hope that if your travel brings you back to Bermuda, you will try us again. We will continue to work on improving our offerings and service.

My wife and I recently spent five days in Bermuda. It was our 17th visit to that tiny cluster of enchanting islands, and the most magical of all because of our choice of Rosedon as the place we would stay. Only superlatives apply to Rosedon, the original building of which, an elegant, stately, columned mansion, sits atop a hill on Pitts Bay Road just outside the city of Hamilton, looking down on the loom of the much larger Fairmount-Princess across the way. But it is what is behind the mansion that is most spectacular; an urban oasis where beautifully furnished rooms surround a kaleidescopic botanical garden of infinite depth and variety, and ablaze with color; trees, shrubs, and flowers which, in turn, surround a pool area that is as tasteful as it is inviting. The service at Rosedon is unequaled in our experience anywhere we've traveled; Europe, the Americas, Asia, North Africa et al. Ask for anything within reason and it is provided with thunderclap speed by the most pleasant and helpful service personnel you will ever have the good fortune to encounter. The hospitality and civility for which Bermudians have long been known has been raised to an art form at Rosedon. It just doesn't get any better. Therefore, if you're searching for the perfect Bermuda experience, you need look no further than Rosedon. The overall rating of excellent is, in our opinion, inadequate. That we plan to return is a given because Rosedon is, quite simply, superb!

Room Tip: All rooms are delightful. We prefer the upper floor of the cluster around the garden because of the...

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Bermuda. We picked The Rosedon because it had a charm that leaped out from the pictures we saw online. We were not disappointed! We've traveled to a number beautiful places, but this was the most relaxing so far. The property is beautifully landscaped, and the gardens and pool beckon all to come and enjoy. The rooms are very comfortable and homey. The wonderful breakfast, delivered to your room, poolside, or on the veranda each day, gets your day off to the perfect start. The Rosedon Family is by far the most courteous and attentive group of people we've encountered in a hotel setting. In fact, it felt more like a home away from home, than like a hotel. The fact that most things in Hamilton close at 5:00 was even fine by us. We looked forward to coming "home" every evening for tea and relaxation on the grounds. We've been excitedly telling all about our wonderful visit and encouraging others to consider The Rosedon as a vacation destination. One thing is sure, we plan to return! There is so much more I could say about our overall Bermuda experience, but I will save some for later. Go and see for yourself and tell us what you think {*_*}

As we say in Louisiana, "Laissez les bon temps rouler!" or Let the good times roll! Or just rest and relax your mind, body, and soul. Whichever you need, find it in Bermuda...and...at The Rosedon!

Thank you for this wonderful review! It was heartwarming to read how you felt like you were with family. Our logo used to be 'home away from home'. So the feel of who we are and what we offer has remained. Our peaceful garden setting that is only a 10 minute walk from the city surely gives you the best of both worlds.

We are so happy you choose to stay with us and look forward to you joining our huge following of repeaters that come back year after year!

My husband and I stayed at the Rosedon on our honeymoon to Bermuda June 3-9 which also coincided with my birthday. We started off our time at the Rosedon on the right foot, as the staff surprised us with champagne and cookies the morning we arrived. Throughout our stay we were blown away by the professionalism and courtesy extended from each member of the staff. Breakfasts were superb and to those who may consider themselves picky eaters-my husband is allergic to eggs and it was no issue whatsoever to get a different breakfast. You are provided each evening with a card indicating the next morning's breakfast as well as a list of alternate items you may request instead. The Royal Room was perfect-we had our king size bed, small sofa, refrigerator, ample closet space, desk, large dresser, and a lovely bathroom.

We loved the rum swizzle party on Tuesday night which had wonderful appetizers as well to our surprise! It was a lovely occasion to get to sit down and talk with other guests who clearly wanted to interact with others around them which is not always the case at a large resort. Even when laying poolside on a warm morning we were greatly pleased that other guests would hold conversations with us instead of keeping to themselves as I have encountered when on vacation in other locales.

We were extremely pleased with our stay and felt that without a doubt we had made a great decision. With shops, restaurants, the ferry terminal, and bus terminal within a 5 minute walking distance this was also a money-saving location to choose. Everything is at your fingertips at the Rosedon. Go on and book your room now; you won't regret being somewhere where the staff remembers your name after only hearing it once and treats you as a member of their family. We greatly look forward to coming back to see everyone and of course, Owen (the hotel cat) who we miss so much now that we're back at home!

Room Tip: Royal Room 83 was lovely, as it was on the second floor and not on the end so you were "insulat...

Thank you for this amazing review! We are excited to learn that your honeymoon with us turned out to be great! The size of Rosedon lends itself to intimacy and the opportunity to meet other guests. That is also the aim of our Swizzle Party which I am happy to read you enjoyed the interaction with other guests.
All of us at Rosedon wish you a lifetime of love and happiness and of course many anniversaries back with us.
