“The grand dame of Bermuda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

I have been going to Bermuda for many many years. And as many travelers my first stepping point was the princess in Hamilton. Now under Fairmont it's under a major renovation. That should finish soon. We arrived without a reservation through some mixed up. However the front office was kind of models have a tiny tiny little room for $750. We were grateful but not too comfortable. We were giving access to the Fairmont medallion room for breakfast and Internet. That made the whole difference specially when we met Andre. His kindness and demeanor and his ability to give us a very late checkout made are almost a worthwhile. I am sure when the renovation is over and the new restaurants are in for sale it will be again the Grand Dame of Bermuda

Room Tip: Wait until all renovations are finished. This South Hampton princes it's a good alternate choic...

We'd been to Bermuda many years ago when it was the 'in' place. We returned for our 40th anniversary for sentimental reasons, and were delighted with the updates, renovations & additions. New infinity pool, lounging area & trendy outdoor restaurant. Excellent Fairmont Gold lounge & service.

This is a real gem in Hamilton but has been getting a bit long in the tooth in some areas in recent years. Its acquisition by the Green brothers who have put $90 million into it is already starting to show. The new marina is taking shape, the delightful (if windy) 1609 restaurant literally overlying the harbour is now open as well as a opo up Samuelson's at HP which offers other alternatives. The work will continue for at least another year but it seems well planned and did not trouble us during our 12 day stay. As always the staff are exceptional and I do recommend the Gold option. The refurbed rooms in the Poinciana wing should be open any day but even the unmodernised rooms are still perfectly satisfactory.

This is our 6 Memorial weekend at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. We were pleasantly surprised with the infinity pool and the new 1609 restaurant on the harbor.
We always take the gold plan and the service is excellent. The Fairmont knows how to treat it's guest. We hope to return next year..

Well, we flew to Bermuda back in April 2008. The weather was about the same temperature as the UK summer time (on a good day).
This Hotel was by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I still rank it as one of my fav's 6 years later!
I remember the rooms being immaculate looking out onto the pool and harbour.
The best bit was walking past a wall in a corridor, sort of like a 'wall of fame' where they had pictures and memoirs of celebrities who had once stayed there. I think I was in awe learning that Michael Jackson once stayed during the early 90's and rented out the whole of the top floor.
The food served in this hotel was amazing and the breakfast buffet was do die for. The location of the hotel is central to Hamilton where you could walk to the shops and restaurants.
I'm sure the standard of this hotel has remained just as excellent as it was back then.
I want to return soon! I miss you Bermuda!

Truly amazing; it was centrally located to Hamilton, island transportation, beaches and dining. We could not ask for more.Front desk staff went out of their way to insure we had our itinerary and transport dialed in for our first trip to Bermuda.

My wife and I spent Memorial Day Weekend 2014 (aka Bermuda Day Weekend) at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. There’s a lot to know about choosing between this hotel and its sister property, but both are lovely and the service at both properties was spectacular, without exception. We had friends staying at Southampton while we stayed at Hamilton, so we got a great oppty to compare/contrast.

Here’s what’s great about *both* properties: SERVICE, and the opportunity to upgrade to the Fairmont Gold level with access to free breakfast and snacks throughout the day. Beds/linens were comfortable at both properties, if a bit soft for our taste. Bathroom toiletries were fantastic – normal selection, but very high quality.

Overall Feel: Hamilton is more business-like (and quiet) and Southampton is more family-oriented/resort-like. Hamilton is walking-distance into town for shops/restaurants, while Southampton is meant to be more self-sufficient.

Pools: Edge to Southampton – more options, and they’re nicer. Hamilton’s infinity pool was closed while we were there – it did look lovely though.

Spa: Edge to Southampton – you get a day pass to their adults-only indoor pool and indoor/outdoor lounge area and it’s gorgeous and quiet.

Beach: Edge to Southampton – it’s a 3 minute (free) shuttle ride down to the beach. If you’re at Hamilton you have to take the free ferry which is fun, but takes 30 minutes and only runs 4x/day.

Décor: The renovations at Hamilton are in the process of giving it an edge in terms of being updated yet still a “classic” look, both in the lobby and the rooms, while Southampton is a bit darker/older. At the moment not all of Hamilton is updated yet though so do ask about that when booking.

Room Tip: We got a Gold room on the 6th (highest) floor. No balconies on that side, but a very nice view.
