We love the buffet and the service is always good. Fridays is a good time to go. They always do something special.

A wonderful place when one is missing India cooking if you can't re- create at home. sometimes a little heavy but delicious.. and well worth every bite.

“Great curry!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

This place is a little off-the-beaten-track but well worth a visit. The service was pretty efficient even though it was rather busy when we visited. The queue for the takeaway counter and the number of patrons indicates just how good the food here is too: the mixed kebab stater was an incredibly succulent and fragrant starter and the main-course curries well proportioned and very tasty indeed. Definitely worth a visit for curry-o-philes!

The decor is best described as 'charming old school curry house' and whilst non the worse for that, held us back rating 5 stars.

“Nice Indian restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

I like to try Indian food wherever I go, and Bermuda was not the difference, with a big british population I expected to find a lot of indian restaurants but it was not the case. House of India was not but, the food was good and also the service.

“Still good but a little over rated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

We recently took a nostalgic visit to Bermuda where we lived in the mid 1990s. At that time House of India just did a take away trade but their food was outstanding. Going back to there was top of our list of restaurants to revisit. The place has changed completely since those days and now offers a large dine-in area with a completely separate take away entrance. Local friends still rate it highly.
Sadly, the meal was uneven in quality. Food that once seemed freshly prepared now seemed dry and clumsily spiced. The prawn patio (sic) was dry and unsubtle. The portion was far too big for a starter. The onion Bahji also seemed to have been held for too long. The mains were much better - the chicken chetinod brought back all the right memories and the chicken masala was also good. However a Dahl dish was heavy and had no high notes in a very darkly spiced offering.
Service was excellent throughout and along with the mains just tips our rating into the four star range - but only just.
Ambience is old fashioned Indian and is welcoming.
