My husband and I were a little wary at staying at what looked like an already dated timeshare resort on the website, but we were excited anyway and looking forward to celebrating our 1st anniversary. We got there and spent 30 mins checking in because the young lady at the front desk didn't understand English well and couldn't answer any of our questions. That wasn't so bad--but it was the first of many ordeals with a front desk staff that pretends to never understand you at a resort where most if not many of the guests are American.
They stuck us in a dated and mildewy room with mold growing on the lampshades and when we complained, we were told to wait a few days. When we complained directly at the front desk the only lady that could understand us sent people to the room without telling us and while we were talking to her. I understood what she was saying and sent my husband to the room to check. He said by time he got there someone had changed the lampshades and they had the door open and the A/C on full blast to air the room out. Meanwhile, the lady told me the room smelled fine to the staff.
Then that night we stopped to ask the front desk to recommend a restaurant. The guy told us about one 2 miles up the road, but when we stepped out the hotel there were signs for at least 5 restaurants a few feet away.
Later on we asked for washcloths, because the staff didn't give us any for 2 days and again no one understood us. Check out took at least an hour because of the long line and everyone was so irate at how slow the front desk was. I have never seen anything like this...
But all in all we had a fabulous time and found ways around the front desk. We just used the services of the adjoining hotel and hotels next door. That's the key!
