“Beautiful and Peaceful... NO KIDS!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Beautiful, huge beach - very roomy - NO KIDS running & kicking the sand. Very friendly & warm staff all over the resort & beach! We had been in Aruba since 2002 -- stayed at the high rise area for 2 years before we discovered Bucuti - had been staying there since then! They are like a big, happy family to us - treated us like their own family! We definitely go back there next spring!

Room Tip: Tara Suites are beautiful -- first floor open to the beach.

This was our first trip to Aruba (and our honeymoon) and a co-worker recommended this resort. Although she had never stayed here, she knew people who had. Since we we wanted a quiet, relaxing vacation, this adult only resort seemed to be the perfect choice.

Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Carlo and brought into the lobby. I wasn't terribly impressed by the entrance or lobby. I guess for the price we were paying, I expected it to be a little more aesthetically pleasing.

After registering we were brought up to our room in the Bucuti building. Again, not overly impressed with the room, but it was clean and I loved that they had an air purifier and dehumidifier in the room. The one big complaint I had was that we could not control the air conditioner in our room and it was really cold. I wore a sweatshirt whenever we were in the room. We were told when we first arrived that we could call the front desk and they could come up and adjust it. I called once and the phone just kept ringing. Another time we were told it would take an hour and a half to get someone to the room, so we just gave up. I did address this with the management and they apologized and said they were working on fixing the problem so each room could control their own temperature.

One other thing I have to mention is that there is no cold water in the room. When you come in from laying in the hot sun, a cool shower would be refreshing, but instead we showered as quickly as we could because the water was always hot. We were told that the water pipes in Aruba are close to the surface so the "cold" water doesn't exist. I asked a few people I know who go to Aruba frequently and they didn't have the same experience. Maybe some others resorts have ways of cooling the water before it gets to the guest rooms??

The new restaurant and pool area were very nice. The free breakfast was great, except for the flies on the food and the birds outside that hover around waiting for you to get up so they can swoop in on any leftovers. My co-workers bought us a private dinner on the beach as a wedding gift and it was lovely. The food was very good and our waitress Myrna was fantastic.

The beach chairs were really comfortable (think those are new as well) and the beach was very clean. We walked along the beach past a few other resorts and saw beach chairs practically on top of each other, so we were really glad we had chosen Bucuti & Tara.

Everyone working at the resort was very friendly and they were always asking how everything was. They seemed to really want to make sure we were happy with our experience. Based on all the rave reviews, I expected to love it and really want to go back, but I just can't say I would definitely go back there. All in all we had a good experience and if you're looking for a small, quiet resort, the Bucuti & Tara is ideal.

Excellent choice for a relaxing honeymoon,

Thank you for your kind comments on our resort. As to the deficiencies you have brought forward, firstly we would like to apologize while at the same time we would like to inform our readers of steps taken as a remedy.

The air condition units are brand new and the individual controls are installed as we speak – indeed we had to adjust the room temperatures individually as the control units were not readily available on Aruba. They were shipped separately ….

Our waterlines run indeed close to the surface and our median temperature is in the nineties and consequently there is no cold tab water available in most places. Pipes are normally insulated and in a few projects the insulation was omitted and the air-conditioning in the buildings cool off some of the water. Our buildings run insulated pipes – unfortunately it cannot be fixed as the pipes are embedded in concrete walls.

We offer two air- conditioned indoor dining facilities were you can avoid the birds and the occasional flies. Our Tropical weather does not help in avoiding flies and many guests and the local Animal Rights people vehemently opposed the culling of the bird population when it was tried some years ago. It is the perennial “you are damned if you do and you are if you do not”

We are categorized as a four star boutique resort and as such have been praised at this review site and on other review sites for our décor and ambiance – we do realize that this is a matter of taste and preferences. We are sorry we did not please your particular esthetical values…

We certainly hope you enjoyed our Aruba and hope you return to our “One Happy Island” .

Respectfully yours.

Having arrived following a 11 hour flight and transfer we were warmly greeted by friendly staff. Having completed our book- in we were about to go to our room when informed that we would have to move the following morning. We had been "upgraded" as due to over booking our room was not available. We were asked to return at 12 midday for the change. We explained we had a meeting with the rep at that time but would return after our meeting.
At 12.45 the following day we returned to be informed that our room would not be ready until after 3.0pm. My wife was less than amused as we were unable to unpack our belongings as it would mean repacking again for the move.We contacted our rep and were then met by the Operations Manager,Patrick who said he would sort it and in the mean time have a free drink.A short while later he returned to say our room was ready and showed us to it.A bottle of champagne awaited and we were offered a meal in the restaurant. My wife thought this room was better!
I don't think it was because of this problem but from then onwards our treatment could not have been better. From the owner,Boss to the gardeners all were really very pleasant and friendly and we soon forgot the first two days.
Besides the staff the Hotel is in a very good position near the best beach and midway between the town in one direction and the "high rise" area in the other. A number of shops/bars/restaurants were all nearby together with a Casino.
Our flight was delayed home by 6 hours due to a pilot being taken ill and we stayed at the resort and given a room to shower and change.I am sure you would not get this evrywhere.

Room Tip: Did not like the bugalow as it had a bath whiach you had to climb into and LED lights shining toward...

My wife and I came to Aruba for our honeymoon in May of 2013 and picked Bucuti and Tara for our hotel. I can honestly say that we could not have made a better choice. Everyone on the staff from the grounds crew to the owner, and everone in between, was polite and did everything they could to make our stay memorable.

We had a standard room and it was clean and comfortable and fit our needs perfectly. The food was wonderful, however, we used their Dine Around program and so we ate most of our dinners away from the resort. The dine around program allows you to pay for dinner vouchers ahead of time and then select the restaurant from a list of about 30 or so places. This option was nice because we didn't have to worry about carrying a lot of cash or our credit cards around for meals. The concierge staff helped us pick out several fantastic restaurants.

That leads me to one of Bucuti and Tara's best assets, their concierge staff. These folks knew the island backwards and forwards and could easily tailor any outing to your desires. We rented a car the first day on the island and I sent one e-mail to the concierge before we arrived and before the end of the day the reservation was made. They even arranged to have the car delivered and picked up at the resort. I simply cannot say enough about the concierge staff, they are fantastic.

Even with all of the wonderful things you could do through the resort, some of our best memories were simply sitting on the beach or at the beach side bar having a drink and watching the sun set. It is hard to top sitting in a comfy chair, with your toes in the sand, a cold drink, and watching the sun go down. The bartenders/wait staff were attentive and fun and the type of people the resort attracts makes for a wonderful stay.

I highly reccomend that you say at Bucuti and Tara, it's a wonderful resort with a wonderful staff and you will not be disappointed.

Bucuti was a really good experience. We really loved the adult only policy as we wanted to have a tranquil and peaceful vacation away from stress and noise. The hotel was lovely situated on Eagle Beach, away from the high rise area and its pace but still just a short bus ride from the action.
The main asset for this hotel is its location on the stunning white coral sand beach. The kind of sand that feels just cooling between your toes! We started every morning with a long walk on the beach watching pelicans diving for fish.
The service was perfect and everyone did their utmost to make sure we had a good time. The food was good, especially the breakfast. We received especially good service from a young girl, it is a pity I cannot remember her name though. Only thing to pinpoint is the behavior of one of the bar tenders, she acted very arrogant and were not very willing to do so when we tried to use our vouchers we received from the hotel manager as a compensation for a late room. In fact I had to insist on it and threaten with calling on the management to be able to get our drinks, not good!
A tip from us would be to join the island safari excursion, you will be amazed of the difference between the south and north shore. On this trip you will also visit the lighthouse and the famous church on the north side as well as the baby beach on the south side. Best restaurants are found in the high rise area. Luxury shopping in Oranjestad was surprisingly good.

Overall a very good resort that we highly recommend to others, especially lovebirds!

Room Tip: I guess rooms facing the ocean would be the top choice but the ones facing the garden were a very go...

Thank you for your kind words on our overall performance as a resort.

We did look into the issue of the service by one of our bartenders and the person in question has been spoken to and we expect that this will correct the issue. We apologize for this as it should never happen.

We do hope to be able to serve you again in the near future.

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon and had an amazing time. When we checked in at 9 PM we were greeted with a friendly staff, given champagne, and shown to our room. The room was beautiful. King size bed, tv, minifridge, safe, plenty of pillows, etc. The bathroom is a bit small with the shower but it wasn't a big deal.

The next day we walked down to our complimentary breakfast which had just about everything you could want (even a woman that made your eggs anyway you wanted them). The Beach is amazing! The drinks at the bar aren't overpriced and they have 2 happy hours a night that let you get your drinks half off. The bartenders are great, and if you are laying on the beach they will even come out and ask you what you want. They also have very tasty appetizers and sandwiches to snack on if you get hungry. There are plenty of umbrellas and beach chairs on the sand so that all the couples can have a spot to lay.

We dined at the restaurant one night and it was a bit pricey but delicious!

Overall it was an amazing experience and we would love to go back again.

Room Tip: The Rooms overlooking the field are just as good as the ones overlooking the beach.

Perfect Location with The best Beach at The Island. Great Food. Kind staff. We had a Great Honeymoon. Much better than The loud 5-Star Hotels at Palm Beach. Wie changed to The hyatt and there was a crowded and small Beach. At bucuti you have Space AND new sunchairs. We like The bucuti more.
